Jadeja skips towards the leg-side and hits it to square-leg. He doesn’t take a run. Jadeja then makes room again and hits it through the off-side for a four. He moves into the 80s. Jadeja then makes room again and he cuts it over the in-field and that has gone for a four. The skipping down the track works for Jadeja as Finn bowls it wide. Jadeja lets it go. And he is bowled! Jadeja stands way outside the leg-stump and he tries to play it through third-man, but it hits the stumps. England have won by 41 runs.

Jadeja makes room again and couldn’t hit it well. He declines the single on offer. Jadeja pulls a short one and declines the single again. He pulls the third ball again and they don’t get a single. He then hits it straight to mid-wicket. Jadeja finally gets runs as he pulls the fifth ball for a four over square-leg. It was slower and Jadeja pulled it quite easily. Jadeja gets a single off the last ball and that is his highest ODI score.
Stokes continues and Jadeja jumps towards the leg-side and smashes it through cover for a four. Stokes then bowls a full toss on his body and Jadeja pulls it fine for a four. The fielder misfields there and it goes past him. Stokes then responds with a single. Jadeja then flicks it through wide long-on and they get a couple of runs. Jadeja then skips to the leg-side and lofts it over cover for a four. What a shot! Jadeja finishes the over with a single.
Jadeja gets his half0century. He lofts one down the ground and that has gone for a six. Jadeja celebrates by wafting his bat around, like he did at Lord’s. Jadeja then smashes another one down the ground and it has gone for another six. What a shot! It was even bigger. Jadeja then pulls it for a couple through wide long-on. He keeps strike with a single off the last ball.
Bhuvneshwar is out! Jadeja calls him for a single and then pushes for a second. But, Bhuvneshwar falls short. Initially, it looked as though he made it, but replays showed he was short. Arunabha Sengupta says, “As we were watching the replay, the man with the camera who accompanies the departing batsman all the way ran out into the ground… he had already made his decision long before the third umpire had.” Shami is gone as he plays a foot toss to cover.

Jadeja gets a single first ball. Bhuvneshwar gets a single then. Jadeja finishes the over with a single. India are meandering towards a defeat in this match. England have done well to keep them quiet.
India have got their 200 with Ashwin getting a single. Jadeja then gets a couple of runs. Jadeja then tries a single, but the fielder is in and they get no run. Jadeja moves to the leg-side again but then Stokes bowls a yorker and they only get a single. Ashwin is gone. he tries to pull one across the line and gets the top-edge. He is caught at cover by Steven Finn.

Anderson bowls a slower ball and Ashwin picks it. He smashes it through cover for a four. Much needed for India. He then flicks uppishly through the leg-side for a single. Jadeja then pulls to fine-leg for a single. Ashwin finishes the over with a single.
Woakes will continue and Ashwin gets a single off the first ball. Jadeja then plays through the leg-side for a single. Ashwin then tries to go over the top as he pulls across the line. But, he gets a top-edge and it goes on the bounce to third-man. Jadeja then gets a single down the ground. India need boundaries if they have to give England a scare. Ashwin gets a single off the last ball.
Jadeja gets a single off the first ball as he charges down to Anderson and Ashwin calls him. Ashwin then guides to third-man and they get a couple. Ashwin has to run quickly. Ashwin then guides one to third-man for a single. Jadeja then plays to fine-leg and they get a couple. Jadeja then makes room but Anderson follows him. Jadeja gets a single. Ashwin then edges one through the off-side and another single is taken.
Woakes is back into the attack. He hits Jadeja on the pads upfront, but it pitched outside leg. Jadeja plays the second ball through the off-side where there is a slight misfield and they get a quick single as a result. Ashwin later gets a single through the leg-side. Jadeja also plays one through the leg-side for another single.
Jadeja faces Anderson now. He plays three dot balls upfront. He gets a run off the fourth ball as he pulls to the deep for a single. Ashwin gets off the mark with a single through the leg-side. Jadeja also gets a single. Only three runs off that over.
Finn continues and DHoni places one through fine-leg for a single. Jadeja then pushes through the leg-side and as the fine-leg fielder comes around to get it, the batsmen push for two. The throw wasn’t all that great, but some amazing running. Jadeja then pulls to fine-leg for a single. And Dhoni is gone! Unexpected dismissal. Finn bowls it short and wide and he hits it to the fielder, who takes a good low catch.

Woakes will start from the other end. Jadeja is hit on the body first up and he looks for the single, but Dhoni declines. Jadeja then pulls the second ball through the circle through fine-leg. The fielder was in the ring and that goes way past him for a four. Jadeja then gets a couple as he chips one through wide long-on. Woakes then bowls it a bit short and Jadeja cuts it through point for a four. It was slow and there was width. Jadeja takes a single off the fifth ball. Dhoni finishes the over with a quick single.
India have taken the batting powerplay an over before it was to become mandatory. Steven Finn is into the attack. Dhon gets a single off the first ball through the leg-side. Finn then bowls a wide to Jadeja. Jadeja plays a dot and then plays one through fine-leg for a single. Dhoni then places through the leg-side for a single. Jadeja pulls one for a single then.
Tredwell will continue and they get a single off the second ball. Dhoni tries to charge down the track but Tredwell pulls it back and they get no run as Dhoni has to play it defensively. After three balls, Dhoni gets a single.
Jadeja charges to Stokes and flat bats him through the mid-on region and they get a four. Good shot by Jadeja. After a couple of dots, Jadeja gets a single to bring Dhoni back on strike. He then plays it uppishly behind point for a single. India’s 150 is up as Jadeja plays one to the deep for a single.
Tredwell continues and Dhoni attacks him off the second ball. He charges down the ground and smashes it over mid-wicket for a huge six. Jadeja and Dhoni then managed a couple of singles in this over.
Rayudu is gone! He is surprised by a short one from Stokes and he tries to pull it, but gets a top edge. That is caught by Alastair Cook. Jadeja is the new man in the middle. He gets off the mark instantly.

Rayudu tries to charge to Tredwell and he gets an inside-edge. But, they get only a single. Dhoni then works it round the corner for a single. Rayudu and Dhoni continue to do that. Rayudu hits it to mid-wicket in the air, but it luckily for him, goes to the fielder on the bounce.
Stokes continues as Rayudu gets a single off the first ball. Dhoni plays a dot ball and then they get another single. Rayudu then charges and Stokes bowls it wide. Rayudu later charges again and smashes it for a four over mid-wicket. Rayudu imposing himself as he gets to 49. Rayudu then tucks one round the corner and he gets a fifty.
Tredwell is back. Dhoni works it to mid-wicket for a single. India get a few singles. And then Rayudu charges down the ground and lofts it straight for a six. Rayudu moves into the 40s with that. What a great shot by Rayudu!
Ben Stokes is into the attack now. Dhoni gets a single off the first ball. Rayudu then charges down the ground and hits it to mid-on, where there is a misfield. Dhoni then walks and goes down the ground, where it has gone for a four over mid-off. Good intent by Dhoni here.
Moeen is hit for a four off the first ball. A little bit of width outside the off-stump and Rayudu places it behind point for a four. Moeen then switches to over the wicket and Rayudu plays a couple of dots. Rayudu then gets a single off the fourth ball. Dhoni then plays out a dot ball.
Finn is into the attack and Dhoni plays a couple of dots. Dhoni isn’t able to score off the first four deliveries. Dhoni tries to get off and running, but this is a maiden over.
Moeen Ali continues to Dhoni and he defends the first one. He tries to charge down the next ball, but plays it straight to mid-wicket. No run there. They finally get a single off the third. Rayudu defends the fourth ball but is hit on the pads. The next ball is swept by him for a single. Only three runs come off the over.
Finn starts from the other end and Rayudu defends the first ball. He also gets behind the second one and defends it. Rayudu gets a single off the third as he plays a short ball down the square-leg. Dhoni then gets off the mark with a single.
Moeen will continue. Rayudu gets a single off the second ball. And Raina is gone. He tries to cut and gets an edge to the wicketkeeper. He has to walk back.

James Tredwell is into the attack and Raina dances down the track and goes inside out through cover for a four. That was very well hit by Raina. The fielder dived at cover, but it was past him by then. Raina then sweeps to square-leg for a single. Rayudu then charges and lofts over mid-wicket for a four. Another great shot by Rayudu. Tredwell has had a tough first over.
Moeen will go on. Rayudu takes a single off the second ball. Raina also gets a single. Rayudu then plays through the leg-side for a single. Raina plays through the off-side and they get a single. They were thinking of a second, but Rayudu sends Raina back. Rayudu then waltz down the ground and that has gone straight for a six.
Raina hits the ball through cover and that has gone for a four. Very well played by Raina! He then takes a single to work the strike over. Rayudu then defends one and thinks of a single, but it is not there. Rayudu then plays one down the ground and they get a couple. He takes a single off the last ball.
Moeen will continue. Rayudu gets a single first up and then Raina too gets it again. Rayudu also works the strike again. Raina keeps the score ticking by opening the face of the bat and playing through third-man for a single.
Finn is into the attack. Raina tries to pierce the off-side field, but hits it straight to the man. No run is taken off that shot. Raina plays one over mid-on and it is just over the man there. Raina lives to fight another day. A testing phase for India here.
Moeen continues to Raina from round the wicket. Raina is watchful and shows his full face of the bat. He ultimately gets a single as he charges down the ground and pushes it to long-off. Moeen dived, but could not stop it. Rayudu then finishes the over with a single through the leg-side.
Chris Woakes drops Ambati Rayudu in the deep. What was Rayudu thinking! He charges down the ground and edges one to the third-man region. Woakes comes around, but drops it. Later in the over, Raina edges one to first slip and Alastair Cook drops it.
OH HE’S GOT HIS MAN! Moeen Ali has worked his magic once more, and that is the end of Shikhar Dhawan. He was looking good too.

Steve Finn comes into the attack now. He was a far cry from his usual self in the last game. Good, tight over. Just two runs off that one.
Moeen Ali is in, the man who tormented India during the Test series. Dhawan is kept quiet in the over initially. He then charges down the ground and gets a single down the ground. Rayudu gets a single off the last ball.
Rayudu charges down and gets a single through third-man. Dhawan then gets a single off the last ball. India get only two runs off this over.
Dhawan faces Woakes. He pitches it short and wide and Dhawan cuts it beautifully through the packed off-side field. That is his strength and he managed to keep it down. Very well done by Dhawan. Woakes manages to bowl a few good deliveries. But Dhawan then plays one down the ground through mid-on and that has gone for a four.
James Anderson will continue. Dhawan takes a single off the first ball. Rayudu then plays out the second one. Rayudu then leaves a few. Anderson is testing him here with a few deliveries around the corridor of uncertainty. Only one run is conceded in this over by Anderson
Dhawan and Rayudu are in the centre and they now have the task of batting it out well. Rayudu would hope to play a good innings and enhance his stature.
Kohli is gone! Anderson does it again for England. Cook takes the catch at slip!

Woakes bowls it on Kohli’s pads and he has no problems in flicking it through the off-side for a four. It flew even as Jos Buttler was diving, but it was far away from him. Kohli then hits one through third-man for a couple.
Kohli gets a boundary. He flicks it through the square-leg region and that has gone for a four. Dhawan then flicks one through the leg-side and that has gone for a four.
Woakes bowls do Dhawan and he is trying to bowl to him a little outside the off-stump. Dhawan drives the fourth ball well, but it goes straight to the mid-off fielder. Woakes then bowls one short and it climbs outside the off-stump, but Dhawan lets it go through to the wicketkeeper. Dhawan plays the last one to mid-off again. It is a maiden over.
Kohli plays to fine leg and sets off for a single. They then try to go for a second but Kohli is sent back and the throw was wide. They then get another single as Dhawan guides it to third-man.
Chris Woakes is into the attack. Both the batsmen get off the mark with singles. Dhawan then edges one through the point region and that has gone for a four.
Ajinkya Rahane is out! The third ball of the innings and he plays away from the body. Eoin Morgan holds a simple chance at point and Rahane walks back. India get off the mark courtesy a wide. Virat Kohli is the new man.

Shami is back and Tredwell puts Stokes on strike with a single. Stokes tries to move across the stumps and hit it through fine-leg but misses. Stokes then moves across his stumps and scoops it over fine-leg for a four. Stokes then gets a single down the ground. Tredwell gets another single to get Stokes back on strike. Stokes hits it through mid-wicket and the ball gets a bad bounce as it evades the mid-wicket fielder. That has gone for a four. He was unlucky there. England score 294 for seven!
Umesh Yadav comes on to bowl. Stokes hits it through the off-side for a couple to begin the over. Stokes then smashes a six over square-leg. Umesh bowls it a bit back and Stokes gets his front-leg out and hits it for a six. Much needed for England. He then loses his line as he concedes a wide. It hasn’t been a very good game for Umesh, though he has got one wicket.
Shami gets back well as he starts off with a couple of yorkers. Woakes misses. The third-ball is also a yorker and it is on the stumps. Woakes misses and that is bowled. Very good bowling by Shami. James Tredwell is the new man and gets off the mark with a single as he digs out another yorker. Tredwell moves across his stumps and hits it for four through the off-side off the last ball. Arunabha Sengupta says, “With the Englishmen sweeping everything in sight, one wonders how Brian Close is feeling about that one stroke of indiscretion at Manchester in 1961.”

Ashwin is in and Stokes charges down the ground and smashes it straight for six. That was hit very well and he used his feet very well. He then uses his feet again to take a single. Woakes then makes room and cuts it for a four.
Root is gone. he moves across his stumps to Shami and tries to scoop him. Instead he plays it straight to Ashwin at short fine-leg. Woakes is the new man in the middle and Shami bowls it a bit short outside the off-stump. Woakes cuts it over point for a four. Shami has to bowl a little fuller.

Jadeja will continue. Stokes gets a single. Root then tries to sweep across the line, but misses. Jadeja continues to give the occasional one a bit of air. Root then gets to his ton with a six over the leg-side and he celebrates his second ODI hundred. Root then goes for the reverse-sweep and that has been played between the keeper and first-slip. That has gone for a four. Root finishes the over with another six.
Arunabha Sengupta says Brian Close is at the ground. He seems to be fit for an octogenarian. Root moves to 97 with a single down the ground. Shami bowls it full and in fact it is a full toss. And Stokes has played it through mid-on for a four. Ashwin dives but in vain.
Jadeja bowls one that is given a bit of air and Root edges it between the keeper and first slip. It has gone for a four and Root has moved to 96. And Buttler is gone! Hilarious! Buttler switched to go for the reverse-sweep and he ran, without realising the ball had fallen in front of Dhoni, who takes the bails off. Ben Stokes is in now.

The partnership is now over 100. Mohammed Shami comes back and the batsmen start off with taking singles. Buttler gets to 49 by digging a yorker out. Root is now in the 90s.
Ashwin’s over had gone for nine runs, which was the last one in the powerplay. Then Jadeja comes on as the field spreads again. England have moved along a lot better now that they have found their scoring touch. Root gets another boundary as he hits over wide long-on and gets a four. England can target a good score here.
Buttler reverse-sweeps and Ashwin goes the other way. That is why they get a couple. Root gets a short one that is pulled by him over mid-wicket for a six. Good shot by Root.
Ashwin is into the attack and Buttler edges one through the vacant slip-region which has gone for a four. Buttler is then foxed by one that turns and bounces. The next one is a bit short and Buttler pulls it for a four. And then another short one! Buttler pulls it with disdain over mid-wicket for a huge six. What a shot! Buttler keeps strike with a single off the last ball.
Jadeja bowls and Buttler reverse-sweeps one over short third-man for a four. He is then foxed with a turner, but it hit him too high on the pads. Buttler then plays out four dot balls before the last ball is hit down the ground for a single.
Umesh Yadav will continue. Interestingly, his jersey reads “Yadaav.” Buttler gets on strike and he smashes one over the infield and it is gone over mid-off for a four. Buttler then gets one over thirdman. The fielder was inside and it has sailed over his head and into the boundary. That is a six! The first for the innings. Buttler then gets a single. Root works it around to get Buttler back. The last ball is slow and a bit outside the off-stump. England get one bye as Dhoni fumbles.
Mohammed Shami is in with the powerplay in sight. Root is hit on the pads, but it is too high. They get a single. Buttler then places through the off-side and they get a single. Root also dabs through the off-side and gets a single. In fact, they get another one as there are overthrows. The over is done in good style for England as Root places through the leg-side and they get three before it is fielded inside the boundary.
Raina continues. The batsmen have pushed for a few tows in this over and they have taken the score over 140.
Jadeja will continue. Buttler tries to go over cover, but only gets a single. Root is then foxed by the turn in the middle as it leaves him. Root then pushes down the ground for a single.
Raina will continue. Joe Root moves to 49 with a single. Buttler is then kept on strike before he gets a single. Root then knocks it around for a single for his fifty.
Jadeja continues. Root plays it to long-off for a single. Jadeja then foxes Buttler off a delivery that is given a bit of air and it shapes away from him. Buttler then reverse-sweeps and that has gone for a four. Buttler then drives down the ground for a single. Root also gets a single to finish the over.
Root gets a boundary off Suresh Raina and then takes a single. Jos Buttler is the new man in the middle. He gets off the mark off the second ball. Root then plays one down the ground for another single.
Ashwin gets Morgan. It has been a brilliant spell by the off-spinner. He keeps Morgan on strike through this over. He then charges and misses. Dhoni takes the bails off. Big blow for England here.

Jadeja will continue and the deadlock is broken as the batsmen work the strike over. They get four runs in this over.
Ashwin will continue to Morgan, who tries to reverse sweep and is hit on the glove. However, no damage done there. Ashwin does very well to keep Morgan on strike and that is a maiden over. Very well bowled as Morgan was kept guessing on what to do. Arunabha Sengupta says, “With today’s innings, Cook has gone 39 innings without a hundred. Last 39 innings 1192 runs at 32.21 with strike rate 72.46.”
Jadeja is brought into the attack as chants of “Oh Ravi Jadeja” start. The batsmen knock it around for singles. Morgan almost plays it to the leg-slip. That was how he was dismissed in the last game. He gets away this time.
Ashwin continues and Morgan gets a single. Ashwin tries to bowl to Root to get him to play to fine-leg, but it has gone down the leg-side. Root then gets a couple as he does play to fine-leg and they get two as the fielder fumbled. Our man at the ground, Arunabha Sengupta says, “The moment England’s 100 came up with Eoin Morgan’s reverse sweep for four, Katy Perry’s Roar was played over the stadium sound system.”
Root plays the second ball through the leg-side for a single. Morgan gets back on strike and gets a single through the off-side. Root then works through the leg-side for another single. Morgan then reverse-sweeps and has been played very well above the fielder and that has gone for a four. England’s hundred is up.
Ashwin continues from round the wicket to the batsmen. Root is almost stumped but he is in. He then works the strike to give it to Morgan. He tries the reverse sweep but it is straight to the fielder.
Raina continues. England knock it around for singles. Morgan has to get his eye in and then charge. Root will have to play a sensible role too.
Root gets a single off the first ball as Ashwin continues. Morgan then gets a single off his second ball to get off the mark. Root then plays out the rest of the over. England need to rebuild here.
Raina continues to Root and bowls a few overpitched, but Rot cannot make use of it. He then punches it down the ground and they get a 50-run stand here. Decent partnership, but a lot more to do here if England are to put up a good score. Cook also pushes for a single down the ground. Cook is gone! Cook tries to sweep across the line and he is out. It goes high and is taken by Dhoni.
Ashwin will continue and Cook gets a top-edge while trying a sweep but it falls safely and they get a run. Cook is going back to these spinners. he has to be more decisive in his footwork to counter the spinners well.
Spin in force. Suresh Raina comes on. He gets a leg-before appeal. But Cook is given not out. Cook was almost rooted to the crease and that could have gone on, but he is saved.
First sign of spin. Ravichandran Ashwin is in and the batsmen get a couple of singles upfront. Cook has now moved into the 40s and is looking comfortable. He is on a mission remember. He has to prove to his critics that he belongs to the one-day setup.
Yadav has been brought back into the attack. Cook takes a single and then Root too works one to the leg-side and they get a single. Cook then gets another single later in the over. Only three runs have come off it.
Another beautiful straight drive. Bhuvneshwar pitches it up and Root punches it down the ground and that has raced away for a four. This is why Root is rated as one of the best young batsmen in the world today. Bhuvneshwar pulls a few back and Root cannot get them away. Then he overpitches again and Root punches it, this time through mid-on for a four.
Mohammed Shami will continue. He gets the ball around the corridor of uncertainty. The third-ball is a little fuller and Cook punches it down the ground and it has gone for a four. What a great shot by him! All class and timing!
Bhuvneshwar will get the ball again. Cook gets an overpitched delivery and it is driven quite beautifully through the off-side for a four. Cook then plays the last ball through the off-side for a single.
Shami continues and Cook plays out a couple of dot balls. He then gets a single. Not much happening in that over.
Cook plays a couple of dots from Bhuvneshwar. He then gets a single off the third-ball and that is England’s fifty. Some cheer across the ground. Cook will want to build on this start and make a good contribution. Bhuvneshwar bowls it a bit short and Root punches it off the backfoot and that has gone for a four through the off-side. England are a lot more positive in this game.
Mohammed Shami will continue. The first one is bowled on a good length and Cook pushes it back. Cook later manages to get a single as Root comes on to face the last ball. Root pulls the last one through square-leg for a four. What a good shot there by Root!
Root takes an over to get off the mark. Mohammed Shami bowls a few quite well and has handled it reasonably well. Later, Bhuvneshwar bowls one short and Root pulls it through mid-wicket for a four. That was very well played by Root.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls to Alastair Cook and there are a few dot balls played by the England captain. He then gets a boundary. And Moeen is gone. He plays an expansive shot outside the off-stump and he gets an edge which goes high and is caught at third-man.

Yadav continues. The first ball is played defensively by Moeen through the off-side. No run is taken. Moeen gets a boundary later as he drives one through the off-side. Beautifully played by Moeen. There always is that touch of class when he bats in the middle. He gets another boundary through the off-side. He is off and running. Our man at the ground, Arunabha Sengupta says Moeen was cheered when he came out to bat.
Moeen Ali faces his first ball. He pushes it through the off-side and runs a quick single to get off the mark. Cook then faces a few dots from Bhuvneshwar. He is getting the ball to move across the batsman and Cook has let it go through to the wicketkeeper.
Yadav pitches it up and Hales drives it down the ground quite well and they get a couple as Mohammed Shami chases it. The next ball is also full and Hales drives it straight to mid-off. No run is taken. And Umesh gets a wicket. Hales tries to pull it and he gets a top-edge. He has been taken at mid-wicket by Ajinkya Rahane. Moeen Ali is the new man in the middle. His previous innings has given England a lot of confidence.

Bhuvneshwar bowls to Hales. He lets the first ball go through to the wicketkeeper. He then plays one to point for no run. Hales then guides the third ball to fine-leg and they get a single. Cook then works one through square-leg and they get a couple. Confident start for the captain. He has a lot to prove. Off the final ball, he walks across his stumps and gets a couple through mid-on.
Umesh Yadav is now bowling and he is hitting rh areas outside the off-stump. He also bowls a good yorker, that is kept out well by Cook. He then bowls one wide, that is left by Cook. And then Cook edges one between second and fourth slip and that has gone for a four. Tough luck for Umesh, but India needed someone there to take that chance.
Cook is off and running. Bhuvneshwar swings one away from him and Cook placed it behind point for a four. Umesh dived in the deep, but missed. Cook then cuts another one and that is a four.

In the third ODI, India sealed the series by registering a thumping nine-wicket win at Edgbaston with Ajinkya Rahane smashing a century and Shikhar Dhawan remaining unbeaten on 97. Their captain Alastair Cook is looking out of sorts as far as his batting is concerned and he has not been able to spark any inspiration in the team. The team was dealt a blow when Ian Bell was ruled out of the match due to fractured toe.
