Play has been abandoned for the day due to persistent rain. So Day Two of the match did not see a single ball being bowled.

There won’t be any play for some time at Leicester as there is rain. Reports do suggest that there may not be any play before lunch time. So, the wait prolongs.

The news coming in now is that there is a delay in the commencement of play today. That is because there is some rain in the air at Leicester and we have to wait for some time. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane would hope it clears soon as they would want to get their fifties. It looks like they would then retire to allow the others to come out to bat.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the three-day tour game between India and Leicestershire at Grace Road in Leicester on Friday. India would be resuming their first innings at 333 for four with Rohit Sharma (43 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane (47 not out) batting at the crease.

On the first day, Indian batsmen got much needed batting practice against a below-par Leicestershire attack.  As many as three batsmen went on to complete their half-centuries with comeback man Gautam Gambhir’s 54 being one of the notable contributions. Shikhar Dhawan (60 retired), Cheteshwar Pujara (57 retired) were also among the runs as opener Murali Vijay (20) and batting mainstay Virat Kohli (29) were the ones to miss out on a scoring opportunity.

Rohit Sharma (43) entertained the India supporters with some classy strokes including the first six of the match while Ajinkya Rahane also did his cause no harm by notching up well-compiled unbeaten 47 as the duo added 74 runs in 20 overs, PTI reported.
