The batsmen scamper for a single of the first ball and Ashwin smashes Malinga for the second ball. Stuart Binny is run out in the third delivery while trying to steal a bye. It was a direct hit by Sangakkara. Malinga then went on to remove the crucial wicket of Ashwin and cleaned up Amit Mishra’s stumps in the final delivery for his third and fourth wicket. Sri Lanka win by 5 runs.

Ashwin scored 11 of the first four. A comical paddle sweep is followed by thunderous six straight down the ground off Nuwan Kulasekera. There was also a catch spooned at point and a couple taken off the last ball. India need 12 of the last over to win.
With Dhoni nowhere in the picture, the onus is on Stuart Binny to see India through. Binny smashes Malinga’s first delivery to extra cover but the lankan pacer comes back well and gives away only three off the next five. India need 26 of the last two overs.
The dependable Rangana Herath strikes for Sri Lanka. A long hop by Ravindra Jadeja is caught in the deep by Senanayake but the bigger question here is; Where is MS Dhoni?

Yuvraj Singh caresses the ball to the cover point fence but bowler Kulasekara wins the battle, outfoxing Yuvraj, who was trying to steer it to the third man fence but finds wicketkeeper Sangakkara’s safe hands. India need 40 of the last four.
Ajantha Mendis comes back to bowl after being taken to the cleaners of his first two overs. India need 47 of 30 balls.
Eight runs come of Senanayake’s last over. Yuvraj is growing in confidence with every ball.
Lasith Malinga is brought back into the attack and is predictably smashed for a boundary of the first ball but the Sri Lankan pacer has the last laugh with Virat dragging the ball back into his stumps of the next one. Jadeja’s nicks one for four behind the stumps while MS Dhoni is still sitting in the dugout.

Kohli hits Mendis for a flat six over extra cover and Yuvraj comes down the wicket and gets the same result off the last delivery. India are fighting back.
Rangana Herath is brought into the attack and is treated with total disdain by Yuvraj, who smashes the bolwer for a huge six over long off
Ajinkya Rahane nearly runs himself out off the first ball but a leading edge is acrobatically caught by the bowler Senanayake of the next one. Virat Kohli comes in at number six today.

Ajantha Mendis comes on to the attack and Raina hits him for a four before holding out to long on for a simple catch to Rangana Herath.

With the required run rate mounting, Raina is looking to score quick runs and hits a lovely shot over extra cover for a boundary off Senanayake.
Powerplay is done and dew is taking its toll on the fielders. Raina is on the charge and just clears Malinga at deep mid wicket for a boundary.
Sachitra Senanayake could have got a wicket of his first ball is dropped by Chandimal. Yuvraj tries to hit it over extra cover and finds Chandimal, who can’t be blamed for grounding a rather difficult chance.
Rohit Sharma’s bad run continues. Lasith Malinga is brought into the attack and wild heave, trying to clear the mid-wicket fence is pouched admirably by a running Kusal Perera. Raina on the other hand is growing in confidence at the crease.
Raina was struggling against Mathews but gets things moving with a lofted short for four over mid off and a big six over mid wicket.
Just one run came of the Angelo Mathews over. Mathews makes a mockery of Raina in the third over.
Dhawan tries to loft Nuwan Kulasekera but ends up being a tame loft to Thisara Perera at mid-off of the first delivery of the over. The ball is swinging under the Dhaka floodlights and its going to be an uphill battle for India.

Bhuvaneshwar bowls the final over and the power-hitter Kulasekera gets a four off an edge and places the ball for a six over third man in the next ball. Perera sweeps the last ball to the fence to take 17 off the last over.
Varun Aaron is sparing no energy to bend his back. The Jharkhand pacer is dealing with bouncers and yorkers but gives away a free hit in the process of a front foot no ball, which spanked over the long off boundary for a six
Its a wide delivery but MS Dhoni whips the bails off before Chandimal could blink. Brilliant work from the Indian captain and now Ashwin gets his second wicket.

Mishra continues to impress. The leg-spinner is reading the batsmen so well and The Sri Lankan batsmen were unable to get away but Perera brakes those shackles in the last ball for a huge six over long off.
Angelo Mathews gets yet another top edge but is brilliant catch by Amit Mishra at short fine-leg.

The batsmen are looking to get a move on. Chandimal succeeds and Mathews does not. Chandimal’s six over deep wicket is followed by a lifeline for Mathews.

Amit Mishra now gets his turn. It looks more a school drill. Jayawardene top edges Mishra for a six but scoops it straight to the bowler off the very next delivery. The veteran Sri Lankan was looking good.

Ravindra Jadeja gets his turn to bowl and the Sri Lankan batsmen are on the charge. The classy Jayawardene smashes him for a six on the leg side.
Varun Aaron is trying a lot of variations and is paying off against the struggling Dilshan. Jayawardene, meanwhile gets away with a mistimed pull shot that falls in no-man’s land.
Jayawardene gets lucky with an edge in the pursuit of quick runs and gets away with a boundary. Sri Lanka are looking to capitalise on the last few deliveries of the power play overs.
Mohammad Shami pulls off an absolute blinder off Kusal Perera at mid-off. The delivery was hit with immense power and Shami dived full stretch to his right to pouch that one! Varun Aaron was the wicket-taker.

Perera is looking to go after the bowlers. A smash over extra-cover of Bhuvaneshwar is followed up by a good comeback by the bowler.
Mohammed Shami is spanked through the overs by the aggressive Perera. The the Jayasuriya-clone is looking to bludgeon the Indian bowlers in the powerplay overs.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar starts things off for India in this warm up-encounter. The medium pacer devices the southpaw with his third delivery but the ball was going high above the stumps.

Their confidence at its lowest ebb after continuous failures, a beleaguered India would look to pick up the pieces and make a fresh start when they take on an upbeat Sri Lanka in their first warm-up game of the ICC World Twenty20 on Monday.
While the tournament proper will begin for India on March 21 against arch-rivals Pakistan, the two warm-up ties will provide captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni with a chance to sort out his playing combination before the real action begins, PTI reported.
