Mohit will bowl the last over of the match. Mohit’s ground-fielding is not talked about much and he shows what he can do with a diving attempt to run the batsman out at the strikers end. Piyush tries a wild swing and only finds du Plessis at long on. Yusuf tries a heave on to the leg side and is caught plumb in front and Mohit is on a hat-trick.Narine blocks the ball down to third man and Chennai win the match by 34 runs.

Hifenhaus is back and a length ball is effortless trashed for a six over deep mid-wicket. Yusuf then clobbers a one handed smash in the same area for another six. After two good deliveries by Ben, Yusuf middles the ball for an enormous six. Yusuf hits the ball down the ground and 19 comes of the over.
With the spinners taking Chennai to the brink of victory, pacers are back into the attack and Mohit is being re-introduced by Dhoni. The Haryana lad bowls a delicious slow delivery that beats Russell and bowls another slow one that outsmarts Yusuf Pathan. The fifth ball is a yorker and Yusuf digs out a single. Mohit then cleans up Russell after the West Indian with…you guessed it right, slow one.
OUT!A Russell bMohit 1(5)
Pathan endured a torrid time in the 13th over against Ashwin bur smashed a six and a four of the last two. The target now looks insurmountable. Jadeja bowls the the 14th over and the singles are taken of the first three balls. Uthappa tries a reverse sweep of the fourth delivery and ends up top edging a catch to MS Dhoni. Jadeja picks up his fourth wicket. Andre Russell is the new man at the crease and can only fend the remaining deliveries.
OUT!Uthappa cDhonibJadeja 47(38)
Jadeja is on for another over and Kolkata continue to struggle against the spinners. Pathan in particular is going for big heaves and is wasting deliveries.
The excellent Ashwin comes in again and yet again, its around the wicket. Going through the overs quickly and three runs comes of the overs.
Ashwin bowls another excellent over, with only five coming of the over. Jadeja comes back and there goes another one!Poor decision from the umpuire with the ball pitching outside off and the ball might be missing the off stump as well.
OUT!S Yadav lbwbJadeja 8(13)
Ishwar Pandey comes back into the attack and Suryakumar’s wild heave finds his pads and goes to the third man fence and Manhas cuts the ball of expertly. Oh Robin is in some form. A beautiful cut shot leaves the fielders no chance and and keeps the strike. Another expensive over from Ishwar.
Suresh Raina is brought into the attack and Uthappa plays an exquisite reverse sweep for a boundary. Uthappa then trickles the ball down to third and Jadeja makes an excellent stop.
Ravindra Jadeja in the act!Jadeja’s first ball is scooped to Brendon McCullum at short cover for a easy catch an Shakib tires to smash the first ball out of the park and Mohit takes a fantastic catch running in from deep mid-wicket. SuryaKumar fends of the other deliveries after Jadeja’s line stifles him.

There is spin from Chennai’s end and its Ashwin who is introduced into the attack. Ashwin beats Kallis straight with a classical off-spinner. Ashwin bowls a wide delivery and Kallis takes him on a sweeps behind square which ends up being an easy catch for Mithun Manhas. Uthappa lofts the ball and almost falls to Mohit ‘ssuperb effort in the deep.
Kallis cManhasbAshwin 4(6)
Mohit Sharma is introduced into the attack and Uthappa dances down the wicket to smack the ball to the boundary. The next ball is clobbered beyond long on for a huge six and takes a single of the next ball. Kallis comes down the track and smashes the ball for another four. 15 comes of the over.
Hifenhaus comes in for his second over and the bowler is limping a bit. Foolish cricket from Gambhir! The ball takes an inside edge and Dhoni expertly collects the ball. In the meanwhile Gambhir had raced half-way down the wicket and Hilfenhaus collects the ball and takes off the bails. The legendary Kallis comes to the crease
G Gambhir run out 6(6)
Ishwar Pandey is into the attack and offers acres of bounce and width to Gambhir and the Kolkata skipper cuts him to the fence. Robin Uthappa then gets on to the act by playing a beautiful cover drive for a boundary. The next ball sees some expert wrist work from the Karnataka batsman which beats the mid-on fielder. Three boundaries of the over.
Hilfenhaus starts proceedings for Chennai and Uthappa and the recently turned dad Gambhir are at the crease. Its a superb over by the Australian.
Andre Russel to bowl the last over and the first ball is a single to deep square-leg for a single. For all the Dhoni!Dhoni! chants in the crowd, the local boy obliges by smashing a scorching six over long-off. A slower delivery of the next ball only yeilds a leg-bye for the Chennai skipper. The fourth delivery is short and Jadeja hooks the ball for a single. Another slow ball from Russel and Raina tears it past the umpire’s head for a boundary. The last ball is a single and Chennai reach a competitive score of 148.
Narine is brought in for his final over and yet again Narine flights the ball beautifully and the batsmen labour to get him away. The batsmen chose not to attack Narine and Jadeja is given leg-before after five singles of the over. And the third umpire rules it as no ball. The next ball is a leg bye and batsmen cross and Jadeja keeps the strike.
Andre Russell comes into the attack for the first time in the game and the local boy brings the crowd on its feet by simply caressing the ball down the ground for a boundary. Baz tries to smack a slow ball to the off side boundary and is caught in the deep by Yusuf Pathan.Ravindra Jadeja is the new man in and he creams the first ball for a huge six over long on.
B McCullum cYusufbRussell 56(40)
With Baz looking dangerous, main strike bowler Narine is brought on and as usual, he is stingy with runs. Five singles come of the first five balls and Dhoni takes another single to keep the strike. Excellent over under the circumstances.
After two expensive overs, Vinay is back into the attack for another crack. The first four balls have been relatively tidy with five singles coming of it. The fifth one is a peach of a slow delivery that almost clips McCullum’s off-stump bails. Another pull from Baz finds long on and he keeps the strike.
South African legend Jacques Kallis ins into the attack and McCullum pull yet another short ball for a huge six over deep square leg and reaches his half-century. Dhoni then tucks the ball behind square for a single.
With three big back-to-back overs, Gambhir brings back Shakib. Raina uses his feet again and sweetly times the ball to the boundary beyond mid-off. The next delivery is a full toss by Shakib after spotting Raina coming down the wicket. The ball foes to long on’s throat and is safely pouched by SuryaKumar Yadav. Dhoni arrives and the roof almost crashes down with the deafening noise.
S Raina cYadavbShakib 31(25)
Chawla comes in for his third over and McCullum crosses to the other end. Then Raina chips..i repeat chips the ball for a gigantic six over the long on boundary. Raina showed his class using his feet there. The fifth ball is short and slightly wide and Raina, this time pulls the ball to the boundary. 13 comes of the over.
Vinay comes on to bowl his second over and McCullum immediately goes for the pull short that gave him a six of the last over. The third delivery is another short delivery and despite Gambhir having two men in the deep, then ball bisects the fielders and falls just short of the boundary. Has Vinay lost the plot? A poor delivery on the pads is comfortably tucked to fine leg for another boundary.
Vinay Kumar bowls the seventh over and McCullum hits a huge six of the Karnataka pacer’s last ball and its eight of that over. The next over sees Piyush back into the attack and a loose short delivery is tucked away at will by McCullum for a boundary.
Its UP vs UP and Raina wins the battle agaist Piyush Chawla first up by delicately placing the ball to the third man fence. Another boundary comes of the over after the deep point fielder Yusuf Pathan touches the boundary ropes.
Narine continues and McCullum tucks the ball away behind the point for a couple and the New Zealand captain pulls the ball with his strong forearms to the deep mid-wicket boundary. The next delivery is an absolute gem from Narine, with the ball turning in and completely bamboozling the batsman.
Drama! A beautifully flighted ball by Shakib completely outsmarts smith and Uthappa takes off the bails and its a stumping. Umpire Nigel Llong calls off the delivery as Shakib’s towel falls off in his run up and Smith stays. The third delivery is smoked down the ground by the burly West Indian batsman for a six. Shakib gets his man of the next delivery though with Smith’s sweep missing the bat and is adjudged leg before.
D Smith 16(11)
Only a West Indian can outsmart another one. A quicker one from the purple cap holder Sunil Narine is reverse swept behind point for a boundary. Narine comes back well to tie down Smith. A single come off the fourth ball and McCullum can’t do much of the last two deliveries.
The 17-over-a-side takes off in Ranchi, which could easily be mistaken for Chennai with all the yellow flag waving. Shakib opens the bowling for KKR and after two darters in the first three deliveries, the third ball is swept overs square leg for a boundary. The crowd erupts in joy. Shakib drifts another one one on the pads and McCullum tucks it away to the fine-leg boundary.

Play will start at 21.40 IST and the match will be 17 overs a side.
