He then defends. Simmons then gets his ton by working to the leg-side. And Pollard finishes it with a huge six over long-on. Mumbai have won by seven wickets. They have beaten Punjab twice this season.
Hendricks is back and bowls a wide down the leg-side. Simmons then gets a single through fine-leg for a single. And Rohit is gone as he tries to ramp it over third-man but plays it to the fielder in the deep. Pollard is on strike. He gets a single through the leg-side. Simmons is back on strike. He gets a single down the ground.Pollard the defends the fifth ball. The last ball is also a dot.

Shivam comes on with Simmons six uns away from a ton! Rohit takes a single off the first ball. Simmons defends the first ball he faces. He dances down the ground, but it is a full toss and Simmons doesn’t get enough bat onto it. He moves to 95 with a single. Rohit then pulls to long on for a single. Simmons then gets a single down the ground.
Rohit cuts one behind point and it is a four. That was very well played by him as he hit it all along the ground. He then pulls for a single to mid-wicket. Simmons also gets a single through the leg-side. Rohit keeps strike with a single off the last ball. Will Simmons get his ton?
Simmons dances down the ground and carts it over the sightscreen for a six. Sandeep was coming from round the wicket and boom! Simmons then moves into the 90s as he gets a double through mid-wicket. It was tight but made it through. Rohit then pulls one through mid-wicket for a four. The over is done with a brace.
Simmons takes a single first ball off Dhawan. Rohit then defends one but doesn’t get a single. Rohit then hits it down the ground for a single after a few dots. Simmons gets a single off the last ball.
Akshar comes on and Rohit doesn’t get runs early on. Then there is a wide down the leg-side. He then drives to the off-side for a single. Only two runs of this over.
Dhawan comes into the attack with the keeper standing up. He misses the first one and Simmons cuts the next behind for a point. He then gets a single behind point. Rayudu is out! He hits one straight to the cover fielder.

Hendricks is back and Rayudu gets a single first ball. Simmons then plays through point for a single. Rayudu then works it fine for a brace through third-man. Rayudu then plays it to point and there is a misfield as the ball goes to the boundary, Maxwell stops it and then the man from third-man comes around to stop.
Simmons is the man!! He slogs it over wide long on for a six! A quiet over after that but then Simmons cuts the last ball through backward point for a brace.
Akshar comes on and Rayudu plays it to wide long-on. They get a couple. Rayudu then plays it down the ground for a single. Simmons then smashes it down the ground for a four. It was full and he has thrown everything at it. He then cuts it for a single. Rayudu then gets a single down the ground.Simmons defends the last ball.
Shivam comes on and Simmons cuts the first ball through backward point for a four. A good shot to start the over. He then gets a single. Rayudu then goes over mid-off, but it falls short of the fielder. They get a single. Simmons then works it to the leg-side for a single. Rayudu then dabs one to third-man for a single.
Akshar Patel is on and Hussey gets a single off the first ball. Simmons then attempts a drive and gets an edge which runs away for a four through third-man. He then dabs one to the off-side and takes a single. Hussey reverse sweeps one but hits it straight to short third-man. Punjab breathe a sigh of relief as Hussey is gone. He went on the backfoot and missed a ball that turned into him. Akshar celebrates.

Hussey starts the over with a single as Rishi Dhawan comes on. Simmons then flicks it to fine leg and gets two. However, Simmons was limping back as there seems to be some injury or a cramp. He gets some attention from the physio and resumes batting. And then the first ball is flicked over fine-leg for a four. Simmons gets a single and gets his fifty off 27 balls.
Akshar Patel is on and Simmons plays one solidly to cover for no run. He then makes room and cuts it through point for a four. Simmons then makes toom and smashes it straight down the ground for another four. That went as fast as a bullet. Simmons then sweeps it for a single as Sehwag misfields at square-leg.
Hendricks continues and Simmons plays the first one down the ground for no run. Hendricks is warned for running on the danger area. Simmons then makes room and smashes it over long-off and that has gone for a four. Simmons then smashes it over backward point and it goes for a four. It just bounced inside the boundary. Hendricks now comes from round the wicket. And the result doesn’t change! He pulls one over square-leg and that is a four.
Sandeep continues and he bowls it a bit wide outside the off-stump and he is cut through third-man for a four. Simmons then gets a single off the next ball. Hussey then gets a single through the off-side. Simmons then tries to flat bat one, but it has taken the edge and flown over the wicket-keeper. They get two before Hendricks puts in the dive and saves it.
Beuran Hendricks is in and he bowls a dot ball upfront. Later, he strays down the leg-side to Hussey and the wicketkeeper misses it. It is now a wide. Hussey gets off the mark by guiding one through third-man. Simmons gets a single off the last ball.
Sandeep comes to bowl and starts with a dot but then the second ball is smashed through the cover region by Simmons for a four. He then bowls a wide down the leg-side. Simmons then dances down the ground and carts him through mid-on for a four. He then smashes the last ball through long-off for a four. A good start for Mumbai.
Bumrah continues and Dhawan gets a single first ball. Bailey gets a full toss and he smashes it into the stands down the ground. What a shot! But, he is dismissed off the next ball as the slower ball is hit to mid-wicket as he doesn’t get enough bat onto it. Dhawan gets a single to follow as Beuran Hendricks takes strike. And he is bowled first ball as a slower ball foxes him. Shivam gets a single to finish the over. So Punjab have scored 156 for eight.

Santokie to bowl the penultimate over of the innings. He bowls it wide down the leg-side and Bailey tries to pull with all the time in the world and gets an edge. The keeper misses also and they get a couple of byes. Bailey plays a dot and then gets a single down the ground. Dhawan then walks across the stumps and he scoops it fine for a four. Dhawan gets a single down the ground to follow. Bailey smashes the last ball over square leg for a six. A good shot that one!
Bumrah is in and Dhawan gets a single off the first ball through third-man. Bumrah keeps it tight as he varies with the slower ball and the yorker. The batsmen can run a few. But then, Bailey gets an edge which goes very fine through third-man for a four. So, this over has gone for 10.
Praveen is back into the attack. Akshar hits the first bll, which is a full toss straight to cover. But it is a full toss and they are checking if it is too high. However, he is ok. Akshar has to go back. Rishi Dhawan is the new man and he pulls the first ball through mid-wicket for a four. That was very well controlled.

Santokie is back and Akshar plays a dot ball first up.The next ball is straight and Akshar can only defend it back. Akshar then smashes the third ball over mid-wicket for a four. It was in his half and he played it quite well with the ball coming into him. Bailey then waits onto one and cuts it behind point for a four.
Bumrah is into the attack and he gets them to move into Bailey. He misses a couple of deliveries and then defends the third one as it is angled into the stumps and they get a single. Saha then plays down the ground and they go for a quick single. Rayudu runs in from mid-on and throws it onto the stumps. Saha is way short. AKshar comes on and runs a tight single and they get it. He is off the mark.

Bailey faces Ojha and they get a double off the first ball. Ojha then comes back by bowling a couple of dot balls. Bailey is standing wide of the leg stump and is trying to hit it through the off-side. Bailey then plays one to the deep and gets a single.
Shreyas continues and is very accurate. These two batsmen are only knocking it over. Punjab have got their 100 and it is a good one. But, they have lost one wicket too many. Saha and Bailey will now play a few deliveries and then decide to attack.
Ojha is back and Bailey gets a single first ball. Saha sweeps the second one fine for a brace. He then defends one. Only four runs have come off the over. Good comeback by Mumbai.
Vohra gets two off the first ball as there is an overthrow. He then heaves across the line and is bowled. Another big wicket for Mumbai as Shreyas strikes. Bailey is in and he has a scare first up as he gets a single as the top edge flies past the bowler. And Glenndeep Singh Maxwell is gone! He lobs a ball straight back to Shreyas. He is celebrating.

Santokie is back and Marsh smashes it down long-on’s throat and it is out. That is a huge wicket! Maxwell comes in to huge cheers from the home crowd. Maxwell isn’t on strike though as Vohra plays. He gets a single to get Maxwell on strike. He gets off the mark with a brace through long-on.

Shreyas comes on and Vohra hits it straight and it hits the stumps. Marsh was way out. It was referred and it is given not out as it isn’t clear that it hit Shreyas’s hand. Marsh then gets a short ball and he pulls it through mid-wicket for a four. He then flicks it to deep square-leg and they get a couple. Marsh then charges down the ground and smashes it straight for a six.
Ojha gets back into the attack. Vohra gets a single off the second ball and then Marsh flicks to the leg for a single. Then the ball goes down the leg-side and there is an appeal as it past the legs. However, it is given a wide. Vohra then tries to pull and hits it to long on. A single is taken. Marsh then clears the front leg and hits it to cow corner for a four. Then he bowls down the leg-side and Marsh gets some bat onto it as it goes for four.
Shreyas Gopal is in and Vohra works one to mid-wicket and they run a couple. Marsh had to stretch there and he made it in the end. No damage. Gopal then bowls it a bit outside the off-stump and Vohra, guides it through the gap between point and short third-man. That goes for a four. Vohra then works a single to the deep as Marsh comes back on strike. He plays it over the off-side and they get a couple.
Ojha is in and pitches it short first up. Vohra rocks back and pulls it over long-on for a six. He then works it for a single through mid-wicket. Marsh is in and isn’t able to get off the mark as he plays a few through the leg-side. But then the last ball is slog-swept over wide long-on for a huge six. Did anyone say he is rusty? Will that shot put those doubts to rest?
Vohra walks down the track to Praveen and can only defend it. Praveen then hits him on the pads, and there is a shout. However, it is not given. Vohra charges again later in the over and can only defend it. The fifth ball is on the money and Vohra can only play it back. Finally they get a single as Vohra pulls the last ball for a single.
Jasprit Bumrah comes in to replace Santokie. Vohra flays at the second ball and tries to pull it, but he gets it just over mid-off and it clears the man, goes for four. Bumrah then chases Vohra with a short ball and he tries to ramp it over the keeper, but misses. Vohra then chases a wide and full delivery. He gets the edge and it flies fine for a four through third-man.
Praveen is back and he will bowl to Sehwag. And Sehwag is out! He is run out. That was bizarre. He hit it straight and it hit the non-striker, but Sehwag still runs. Praveen picks it up and hits the stumps. A promising knock comes to an end. Shaun Marsh is the new batsman. Praveen then swings one away from Vohra and he fishes at it. He misses it again then. Vohra then moves across his stumps and flicks it to fine-leg to get a single.

Santokie comes on and bowls it wide outside the off-stump. Vohra drives it gracefully for a four through cover. What a shot! Santokie then bowls a slower ball and Sehwag is foxed as it goes through to the keeper. The keeper then comes up to the stumps and Sehwag smashes a full delivery over long-on for a six. Typical Sehwag. He then lofts the last ball over cover and it is a single as the sweeper fields it.
Praveen starts and Sehwag carts the first ball through point for a four. Pollard missed it at point and it raced off the outfield for a four. The next ball is a little full and Sehwag lofts it over wide long-off and that has gone all the way. What a start for Punjab! Praveen then bowls a wide down the leg-side later in the over. Sehwag then also hits one to the off-side, but it is fielded. The off-side ring is packed with fielders.

This match is being held at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali. Finally, Punjab move to their original home ground after playing two at Cuttack. And they come to their home ground after securing qualification through to the playoffs. They have been by far the most exciting team in the IPL 2014. Now, Mumbai Indians, a team that beat Punjab are up against them. Mumbai are facing an exit and a defeat would make it certain. Their qualification hopes hang by a thread and their chances are very bleak, unless there is a miracle and other results also fall in place.

So, there is plenty to look forward to ahead of this game, which is more important to Mumbai than Punjab.
