A brilliant over by B Kumar wins the game for DD. Have I said it too early? Duminy smashes a six but can’t repeat it. It is SRH who engineer a triumph here. Well done to them!
Karthik plays a shot through fine leg for a boundary. A very cheeky shot. Steyn tries an yorker and Karthik isn’t able to come out with another cheeky shot. Steyn is never the best bowler against left-handers. Oh! yes it is proved right as he gives room for Duminy and he thumps it for a boundary. 20 runs needed of last over.
Duminy slogs it over mid-wicket for a six. It wasn’t even middle of the bat. The pressure gets to Sharma as he bowks a no ball. They need 31 from 2 overs.
Pietersen is trying to cut loose here. He makes room to smasha kundary over backward region for a boundary. But Karthik gets out and KP too loses his wicket in an attempt to play a shot. They are losing their way here big time.
OUT! Pietersen 16(17), Karthik 15(14)
Pietersen struggling for timing. He isn’t even picking the ball here. Just trying to slog his way out of trouble. Watch the ball and hit it should be his mantra here. He has heard it!!! He plays across the line for one superlative six. Not the best stroke he has ever played but will take it.
Will we see some Pietersen’s magic? He needs to bring his A game soon as the game is slipping away from DD. DD need those powerful shots down the ground from the giant
DD need this partnership to carry. Both batsmen are struggling to pick the variations of leg-spinners. Pietersen especially looks out of sorts. 72 runs required off six overs won’t be easy.
Vijay after reaching his fity gets out. He was going great guns with his stand and deliver shots. Karthik starts his innings by playing a cheeky shot.
OUT! Vijay 52(40)
Kevin Pietersen has come to bat with de Kock getting out. He certainly didn’t pick that top-spinner! The last time he played was January 3rd of 2014. He needs time to get his bearings going.
OUT! de Kock 48(30)
Maybe you need Wasim Akram to swing and seam the ball from around the wicket to take a wicket here. He can rock onto the back foot or just plant his front foot and clamber bowlers for shots. A fine talent indeed.
What sort of shot was that from Vijay??? Just dexterous wrists as he plays it across the line to swat Kumar for a boundary. He replicates it again. Delhi are on their way to a fine victory. The pitch continues to be as flat as a pancake.
Amit Mishra into the attack. He needs to get his drift going. The occasional googly may come into play as well. It has to be remembered that modern day batsmen rarely pick the googly. Both batsmen are playing him with utmost and it is clearly evident that they aren’t picking the spinner from the hand whatsoever.
You need some magic from someone for Hyderabad to win this game. Maybe Dake Steyn will send batsmen packing to the pavilion. De Kock is playing a magical innings here. He is so strong square of the wicket on either side.
Vijay plays it around the corner for a boundary. This is bad bowling from Darren Sammy as he is drifting on batsman’s pads. He needs to keep it on an off-stump line. This is danger time for Hyderabad as the track is still a featherbed and Delhi can win this game.
Just at the right time both batsmen are upping the ante. They need more boundaries though as they are chasing a monstrous target.
De Kock and Vijay still playing a steady hand. Dale Steyn into the attack. He is bowling cross seam and looking to take it away from the left-handed de Kock. De Kock though gets one over short fine leg for a six. A superb shot that from him.
Rao into the attack. Vijay then finally plays an inside out shot to smash a boundary. He needs to do more of that and he is an excellent player of spin.
Both batsmen have to up the ante here as soon as they possibly can.
Murali Vijay and de Kock open the batting for Delhi Daredevils. Vijay has been short of form. He needs to play with a calm, cool and collected head on his shoulders. This track is true and batsmen should be able to play on the up and that in turn will help de Kock as he plays on the up.
Unadkat bowling the final over of the innings. Warner comes down the wicket to try to smash another boundary. However Unadkat has bowled a fine over. His over though gets spoilt by a six off the last ball. They end up with 188 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.
Warner continues to showcase lot of skill. He picks a a delivery from Shami to hit it around corner for a six over fine-leg. DD also are not helping themsevles by making mis-fields. Nothing is going right for them in the end overs.
Finch finding gaps with needlepoint precision. Warner too making his mark. One wonders what Parnell willl be making of this. In fact 21 runs came in the last over.
Warner is finally finding his touch. Nadeem the left-arm spinner bowls outside the line of leg-stump only for the left-handed batsman to play a slog sweep and essay a six. This is danger time for DD.
Warner is still struggling to get it away. He finally gets somewhere in the middle of the bat and hits Parnell down the ground for a boundary. What has happened to Tiwari? He drops another catch and that too again off Parnell. He is having a shocker in the field.
Finch plays across the line to smash another six. Finch now has essayed a half-century as well now. 19 runs in the over. SRH are upping the ante for sure.
The left arm seamer Wayne Parnell into the bowling attack. DD’s tactic of using left-arm pacers is helping them out here. It is difficult for a right-handed batsman to make room and thump a left-armer bowling from over the wicket. DD also have set straight fields here and Warner is getting frustrated for sure. He finally smashes a boundary.
Shukla the medium pacer too bowling with the wicketkeeper up to the batsmen. On a flat deck there is no other option for military medium pacers. One has to say that Warner needs to play with a straight bat on this slow track.
Shami is back into the attack. He bowls a fine bouncer only for Warner to come down the wicket and try an agricultural slog. Finch now plays one around the corner for a single. SRH perhaps needs one big over to take the game away from the opposition ranks.
Both Finch and Warner have to stitch a fine partnership here for Hyderabad. Jaydev Unadkat bowling with the wicketkeeper up to the batsmen. In some ways it is helping SRH team as batsmen aren’t able to make room and thump it to the boundary. Unadkat slips and he is down on the ground.
Finch shows extraordinary power-hitting by thwacking Duminy for a six. He makes room and one hand comes off his bat.
Both batsmen are playing a steady hand here. We are looking at a big score here.
Finch dances down the wicket to loft Duminy for a six down the ground.
Nadeem has taken the first wicket. It wasn’t a great delivery but he snares the wicket of Dhawan. Warner gets a reprive as his catch is dropped by the wicketkeeper Karthik.
OUT! Dhawan 33(22)
Both batsmen continue to play square of the wicket with utmost easew. Jaydev Unadkat is into the attack. He is trying slower ones here.
Manoj Tiwari has dropped a sitter off Dhawan. Dhawan though played a fine upper cut for boundary.
Finch looks in good touch. He is playing well square of the wicket.
SRH continue to play in a steady fashion.
Shami into the attack now. He has straightaway hit the right length. However, there isn’t much in the track for the seamer. Dhawan is still struggling to get a decent stride in.
SRH start steadily. Both openers, Dhawan and Finch looking to gauge the nature of the pitch in the first over of the match.
Toss: Sunrisers Hyderabad win toss and elect to bat. Good news for Delhi Daredevils is Kevin Pietersen is back in the setup. He will captain the team.
Hello and a warm welcome to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 Match 12 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Daredevils (DD). I am Bharath Ramraj and I will be bringing the live updates of the match. With a loss in their respective previous encounters, this is the time both the teams will be looking to get back to winning ways. There’s a much awaited big news for this match, Kevin Pietersen is likely to play for Delhi and if he does, it will be a big boost for the Delhi side. They already have an in-form overseas batsman in JP Duminy but the Indian lot of the playing XI hasn’t clicked much in this IPL which is hurting the team’s chances.
As for Sunrisers Hyderabad, they have one of the best bowling attacks in this tournament, but haven’t managed to make much of an impact having lost both of their previous matches against Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. Shikhar Dhawan hasn’t been in the best of form and neither have the explosive Aaron Finch and David Warner set the IPL 2014 edition ablaze. These are the batsmen who make the shortest format of the cricket interesting.
