Live Cricket Score: Australia 129/8 | Overs 56 | BATSMEN: Peter Nevill 28(65), Nathan Lyon 2(12) | Australia are in the doldrums at the moment. Bear in mind, Mitch Starc might not be able to bat, and even if he does he will certainly not be able to run quick singles. A wicket now and Australia could be bowled out. Lyon will need to dig in.

Live Cricket Score: Australia 116/8 | Overs 50 | BATSMEN: Peter Nevill 17(52)| WICKET! Mitchell Santner gets his first wicket his first wicket in Tests as he cleans up Josh Hazlewood for 4. Santner bowls a full delivery bang on off stump and it just crashes into the stumps. Hazlewood stands there for a moment absolutely shocked. AND THAT’S TEA! OUT! Live Cricket Score: Australia 84/5 | Overs 37 | BATSMEN: Steven Smith 39(86), Peter Nevill 4(5) | Shaun Marsh has once again wasted an opportunity to make good on his talent. Live cricket score: Australia 69/4 | Overs 30 | BATSMEN: Steven Smith 31(67), Mitchell Marsh 3(7) | New Zealand have had a fantastic start to Day 2. Shaun drives a delivery from Southee towards mid-wicket where McCullum stopped it single-handedly and he hit the stumps direcetly without any hestitation. Although he had all the time to get up and throw it gently. Meanwhile, Smith on the striker’s end shakes his head in disppointment. Brilliant scenes for the Black Caps at Adelaide at the moment. Shaun was dismissed in the 29th over, leaving the hosts at 67 for 4. OUT! Shaun Marsh 2(12) run out Brendon McCullum

Live cricket score: Australia 63/3 | Overs 25 | BATSMEN: Steven Smith 29(54), Shaun Marsh 0(2) | Australia finished Day 1 at 54 for 2 with skipper Smith and Voges on crease. The New Zealand bowlers began the next day well, putting pressure on the batsmen right from the ball NO.1. And that did the job. The pink ball continues to swing and Southee got a late swing, a fuller delivery that tempted the batsman to take on it but Voges just managed an edge that flew straight into the hands of Martin Guptill at the third slip. OUT! Adam Voges c Martin Guptill b Tim Southee 13(42)

Australia are definitely in the more commanding position at stumps but an early wicket or two as is quite a strong possibility if the conditions remain similar, will put New Zealand in the driver’s seat. Steven Smith went to stumps unbeaten at 24 and was looking rather comfortable. The two wickets to fall where openers David Warner and Joe Burns to Trent Boult and Doug Bracewell respectively.

For the New Zealanders, Tom Latham was by far the most convincing batsman scoring a lovely round fifty. Debutant Mitchell Santner also batted quite well for his 31. In the bowling department for the home side Mitchell Starc shared the honours with Josh Hazlewood taking 3-fors each. Peter Siddle and Nathan Lyon took two wickets each. The unfortunate news for Australia which will be relieving for New Zealand is that Starc was diagnosed to have a stress fracture in his foot and will play no further part in this match.
