Hobart Hurricanes win the toss and elect to bowl first.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of Match 16 of the Champions League T20 2014 (CLT20) between Barbados Tridents and Hobart Hurricanes at Mohali. I am Varun Arora and I will be bringing the live updates of the match. As the tournament reaches towards the business end, the atmosphere starts heating up. Only one team from each group has qualified for the semi-final so far. The two teams involved in today’s battle both have a chance of making it to the last four spot. Read the preview of the match here

Hobart, after starting their campaign with a loss against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), have done well to fight back and win two consecutive matches. But there’s still some work left to do. If the Hurricanes defeat Tridents today, they are safely through to the semi-finals from Group B along KXIP. If they lose then would be probably competing with Tridents and Cape Cobras on net run-rate provided both these teams notch up eight points by the end of the group stage.

The Tridents though will have to blame themselves for finding themselves at this stage. They gifted a tie to Cobras in their previous match and then messed up the Super Over chase. With no points in the first two matches they will have to beat Hobart today and Northern Knights later by a big margin to stand a chance of qualifying.

Hobart, at present hold an advantage as they have a healthy net run-rate which could see them through in case two more teams make it to eight points.

Squads:

Hobart Hurricanes: Ben Dunk, Tim Paine, Aiden Blizzard, Shoaib Malik, Travis Birt, Jonathan Wells, Joe Mennie, Ben Hilfenhaus, Xavier Doherty, Ben Laughlin, Doug Bollinger, Evan Gulbis, Dominic Michael, Sam Rainbird, Cameron Boyce.

Barbados Tridents: Dilshan Munaweera, Shane Dowrich, Raymon Reifer, Jonathan Carter, James Franklin, Jeevan Mendis, Jason Holder, Ashley Nurse, Akeal Hosein, Rayad Emrit, Ravi Rampaul, Neil McKenzie, Kyle Mayers, William Perkins, Elton Chigumbura.
