Tim Southee is hit for a SIX by James Franklin first ball! It was a full toss, and deserved the treatment. He bowls two more full tosses in the over, and the Tridents win it with 2 balls to spare. To be fair to Southee, it was a wet outfield and the ball slipped from the hand. Both teams will head home now. Knights can be proud of their effort in India, to make it through the qualifiers and then humiliate Cape Cobras in the tournament proper. Tridents lost a few games they could have won, but they too haven’t performed badly except in the match against Hobart Hurricanes.

Boult returns to the attack, and is hit for a four! He comes back well, and bowls tight deliveries in the next three balls. However, Chigumbura manages to find a boundary off the fifth ball. 12 needed from the last over!

3 overs remaining! Tim Southee enters the attack, and he keeps it tight. Just 7 from the over. This match is turning out to be a cliffhanger. 22 required from the last two.

Wow! What a catch by Northern Knights! That was a treat to watch. Devcich stops the ball from going over the fence, but can’t make the catch so he throws it back into the hands of Daryl Mitchell who is standing just behind. The dangerous Jonathan Carter is gone! Elton Chigumbura comes in for the Tridents.
OUT! J Carter c Mitchell b Ish Sodhi 30(28)

Trent Boult returns and returns well. He bowls a great line and doesn’t allow the Barbados batsman to get away. However, he goofs up in the fifth ball and bowls a no-ball. Franklin is caught in the deep, but it doesn’t matter. 7 off the over.

Finally the Barbados batsman have decided to break lose. Both Carter and Franklin hit sixes to make it a great over for the West Indian side. Horrible over from Mitchell Santner. 17 from it. 41 more required from 30.

Styris returns to bowl his last over. He has been extremely tidy in this match and not allowed the Tridents batsman to get away. The dot balls are building up the pressure on Barbados! Required run rate creeping towards 10 an over.

Scott Kugglejein enters the attack and he is welcomed with two consecutive boundaries by Jonathan Carter. 10 runs from that over, and Barbados need 61 more to win from 42 balls.

Styris returns and manages to keep the batsman quite. Carter goes for a big shot off the last ball, and is DROPPED! That was a good effort from Mitchell Santner but doesn’t reflect on the scoreboard.

Ish Sodhi returns to the attack. Both batsman are looking for the boundary, but the great fielding by the Knights side, isn’t letting them find any. They are dealing in ones and twos at the moment. 76 needed from the last 54 balls.

Scott Styris comes back into the attack, and the Tridents’ batsman find his slower deliveries really tough to get away. Still, they rotate strike and get 5 from that over. There’s a certain lack of energy in the match currently.

Gone! Raymon Reifer tries to hit Ish Sodhi for a six but bites the dust instead. Daryl Mitchell takes the catch. He had taken the catch to dismiss Munaweera too. Jason Holder too follows Reifer and mishits one high into the air, and into the hands of Tim Southee. Two new batsman at the crease now.
OUT! R Reifer c Mitchell b Ish Sodhi 15(21)/ OUT! J Holder c Southee b Ish Sodhi 11(11)

Scott Styris who is probably playing his last match at this level, enters the attack. Barbados batsman show him respect, and don’t dispatch him for too many. Just 4 from that over.

Ish Sodhi enters the attack and is welcomed with a FOUR. He comes back well, and doesn’t allow the batsman to get away after that. 6 from the over.

Spinner Mitchell Santner enters the attack and makes a breakthrough first ball! Munaweera is heading back to the pavilion. Daryl Mitchell takes a scorcher of a catch. Big man Jason Holder who didn’t have a great day with the ball, comes in at No 3 and hits two consecutive stylish boundaries!
OUT! Dilshan Munaweera c Mitchell b Mitchell Santner 20(14)

Boult returns to the attack, and is hit for two consecutive boundaries! He doesn’t like it, and bowls a No ball giving Munaweera a free hit. He hits into the air, and Tim Southee takes a beautiful one-handed diving catch but it’s in vain. 13 from that over.

Southee returns to the attack, and the Tridents batsman aren’t able to find a boundary. Just 3 runs from that over. Some pressure being built on Tridents’ batsman, but they’ll be silly to let it get the better of them.

Trent Boult comes into the attack, and his bowling lacks discipline. 2 wides off that over. Knights are defending a low total, and need to pick up early wickets.

Tim Southee opens the bowling. And Barbados make a terrific start to their chase. They aren’t afraid of swinging their bat, and make full use of the field restrictions. Two boundaries and 10 runs from the first over.

Oh dear! Tim Southee who played a nice cameo, is dismissed! He tries to hit one over the fence, but finds a fielder. How many times have we seen this type of dismissal in T20s? Kuggleleign comes in and starts with a boundary first ball but falls in the very next one. Knights finish at 135/8 at the end of 19 overs. But, Barbados will need 138 after D/L adjustment. Great performance by Barbados, but they’ll need to bat well to secure victory.
OUT! Tim Southee c Mayers b Emrit 19(10) / Scott Kuggeleijn c J Holder b Emrit 4(2)

Rampaul enters the attack. Watling makes room and hits one outside the fence for a SIX. He tries to do it again, but fails to connect as nicely this time. Rayad Emrit takes a good catch to dismiss the danger man. Tim Southee continues the scoring momentum and hits two consecutive boundaries.
OUT! BJ Watling c Emrit b Rampaul 29(19)

Captain Rayad Emrit enters the attack for Barbados. Knights’ deal with him well, and get 10 off the over. Watling has been looking in great touch, and he’ll need to hit many big shots to help the Knights get to a big total.

Ravi Rampaul enters the attack, and Daryl Mitchell hits him for a FOUR second ball. It was an edge that cleared the fence. Rampaul comes back well with a lethal yorker, but Mitchell survives. BJ Watling then makes room and dispatches a SIX. He follows it with a single, and Mitchell tries to hit a big shot too but hits it straight into the hands of fellow Kiwi James Franklin.
OUT! Daryl Mitchell Mitchell c Franklin b Rampaul 9 (8)

Dilshan Munaweera returns and doesn’t do the damage this time. Watling picks him correctly fourth ball, and sends the ball outside the fence for a FOUR. Northern Knights haven’t shown the best of intent in this match.

Akeal Hossein comes back into the attack, and Knights manage to score seven from the over. The two wickets in the last over has helped Barbados Tridents gain the advantage in this match. Both Watling and Mitchell should look to score steadily and not lose their wicket in the next couple of overs.

Munaweera comes back into the attack, and bowls a full toss which Devcich goes hard at but misses. Devcich is frustrated by that, and tries to take a quick single shortly after and a great direct hit sees him falling just short of the half-century mark. Veteran Scott Styris who is probably playing his last game at this level, comes and goes for a duck. Not a good farewell for him.
OUT! Anton Devcich run out (Emrit) 47 (47) / OUT! Scott Styris c Mayers b Dilshan Munaweera 0 (2)

Play has resumed at Chinnaswamy. Akeal Hosein is dispatched for a boundary. 8 runs off the over. Devicich aprroaching his half-century.

Rain has interrupted play at Bengaluru. Devcich who struggled with the bat initially has played a scrappy knock to get to 40. It can be said that the Barbados Tridents hold the advantage. However, it remains to be seen how their bowlers perform during the death overs, when Knights (who have wickets in hand) will go hammer and tonks at them.

Dilshan Munaweera enters the attack and starts with a wicket. Captain Flynn walks back! Great first over by the Sri Lankan. Just 3 from it.
OUT! Daniel Flynn c J Carter b Dilshan Munaweera 21 (18)

Devcich hits the fifth ball of the tenth over hard, and it’s edged towards the boundary. Devcich swings another one away past the wicket-keeper for four. Not graceful batting, but the runs are piling up for the Knights.

Ashley Nurse comes in to bowl. He concedes six runs. Both batsman should look to accelerate now. The Kiwi side need to better in running between the wickets. Despite the boundaries, the dot balls are hurting the Knights.

Flynn hits a beautiful upper cut, which is saved wonderfully at the boundary line. This parternership is approaching the 50-run mark. Kyle Mayers finishes his quota of 4 overs. He took the wicket of Williamson, and didn’t concede too many.

Jason Holder comes into bowl the seventh over, and the Northern Knights’ batsman feast on it. Both Flynn and Devcich hit a boundary each, to score 13 runs off the over. Run rate still below 6 rpo for them.

Kyle Mayers bowls the last over of the power play. Once again, there is a miscommunication between Flynn and Devcich. Flynn runs to take a single, but Devcich refuses. 4 from the over. Good start by Barbados.

Devcich mistimes and hits one high into the air, and it falls into no-man’s land. Flynn and Devcich then almost lose a wicket due to a misunderstanding during running between the wickets. The goof-up seems to have charged up big man Devcich. He hits two consecutive fours in the last two balls of this over.

Rampaul continues. Knights haven’t been able to make full use of the power play overs. Bearded Devcich has struggled to get going and conceded way too many dot balls. The pitch is not so good for batting, as the last match between Lahore and Perth showed. Just 3 from this over.

Flynn finally manages to clear the boundary and hits a wonderful SIX off the last ball. The over was turning out to be a tidy one, until that shot. Will the momentum shif for the Knights here?

Ravi Rampaul who was hammered by KXIP’s Akshar Patel not a long time ago, comes in to bowl the second over. And he takes the wicket of Kane Williamson! The Kiwi batsman doesn’t connect well, and hits one high into the air straight into the hands of fellow Kiwi James Franklin. Captain Flynn walks out to bat for the Knights.
OUT! Kane Williamson c Franklin b Rampaul 1(6)

Kyle Mayers opens the balling for Barbados. Devcich and Williamson fail to dispatch a boundary off him. Just 1 from the over. The New Zealand T20 champions will look to replicate their performance from the qualifiers in this match. They slacked off after clinching four consecutive victories.

Barbados Tridents and Northern Knights will play the last league match of this year’s Champion’s League T20 (CLT20). Both don’t have any chance to make it to the semi-finals but they would like to finish the tournament on a high note. Read the Preview of the match here.

Except their last match against the Hurricanes, Barbados Tridents played well in the other two matches, but failed to win any. They lost in the last over against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and again finished on the losing side in the super over against the Cape Cobras. So they had a decent tournament but were unfortunate not to win anything.

Northern Knights, on the other hand stared really well since the qualifying stage. But in the main stages they failed to maintain their performance. The New Zealand champions beat a strong Mumbai Indians outfit in the qualifiers and Cape Cobras in the main stages of CLT20.

Both teams would like to try out new players in this dead rubber. And for these player it would be a golden opportunity to impress the selectors by doing well in this game. So in this context, this dead rubber would be an exciting game to watch out for.
