That’s it! South Zone have won the match by 116 runs. The last two batsman did not create too much trouble for the South Zone bowlers. R Vinay Kumar was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets for just 8 runs.
OUT! A Gupta c Aparajith b Vinay Kumar 66 (49)/ OUT! Pankaj Singh b Ashish Reddy 1 (4)

He’s gone! Central Zone lose their 8th wicket. Anureet Singh has been dismissed by Darshan Misal. Central Zone look in deep trouble, and South Zone seem to be taking full revenge of the defeat they were handed in the Duleep Trophy final.
OUT! Anureet Singh c Samson b Misal 0 (7)

Central Zone losing wickets in a heap. They have lost the plot completely here. Piyush Chawla played his customary cameo, but was out stumped off Misal, and Kuldeep Yadav got a feather of an edge off Manish Pandey.
OUT! P Chawla 31(27) st Uthappa b Misal, K Yadav 1(3) c Uthappa b Manish Pandey

OH HE’S GONE! Bais is dismissed. He has been run out. Oh dear, and now Mukul Dagar has been dismissed as well, again run out. Central are really pegged back here.
OUT! A Bais 19(44) run out, M Dagar 47(64) run out

After a real shaky start to their innings, Central Zone have held on to their slip of wickets as Dagar and Bais make sure that they don’t let their team suffer further setbacks in the match. They also bring up the fifty for the team.

Central Zone are in complete tatters at the moment! They have lost three wickets withouth any significant score on the board. Ashok Menaria has been trapped in front of the wickets by R Vinay Kumar, who bags his second wicket.
OUT! A Menaria lbw b Vinay Kumar 0 (4)
It’s been a poor start by the Central Zone so far in the match. After losing Jalaj Saxena early, they have now lost the key wicket of Jitesh Sharma. R Vinay Kumar strikes!
OUT! J Sharma c Pandey b Vinay Kumar 2 (7)
Poor cricket from Central Zone as their opener Jalaj Saxena is out for being a little relaxed out there in the middle. He was casually strolling in the middle and is run out.
OUT! Jalaj S Saxena run out 1 (3)

Pankaj Singh claimed as many as three wickets in the final over to complete his five-wicket haul. But South Zone have done exceptionally well to post a challenging total of 293 runs. Stay tuned for the chase.
Baba Aparajith has completed his century as South Zone are heading towards a strong first innings total against Central Zone.

HE’S GOT HIM! After a superb innings Karun Nair has been dismissed for 74. Pankaj Singh gets another, and Sanju Samson makes his way out at No. 6, he will be looking to score some quick runs at the death.
OUT! K Nair 74(62) c Pandey b Pankaj

Superb batting by this pair. They have more than made up for the early wickets of their senior pros. Karun and Baba showing that South have terrific depth in their batting. The second powerplay is on now, this is the ideal platform from which to cut loose.

After a few quick wickets, Baba Aparajith and Karun Nair have done brilliantly to pull things back. Both men have been positive and aggressive. Baba gets his well-earned half-century too.

Manish Pandey is the new man in for South. He was in rollicking form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, can he continue his form here today? OH Manish Pandey survives! Jalaj Saxena drops an easy catch at covers, it was a short ball from Ishwar that found the outside edge of Manish’s bat. And now Anureet cleans him up! Hugh wicket!
OUT! M Pandey 7(17) b Anureet

AND ANOTHER ONE DOWN! Both openers are back in the hut now. Ishwar Pandey has been swinging the ball appreciably all morning, he finally induces the false shot from Mayank. He was batting well, but he’s thrown away his start.
OUT! M Agarwal 35(56) c J Sharma b I Pandey

FIRST WICKET DOWN! And it’s a big one, the experienced Robin Uthappa is back in the hut. He wasn’t looking too fluent, had a waft at a ball that was swinging away and Pankaj Singh has his first wicket.
OUT! R Uthappa 9(20) c J Sharma b Pankaj

Out walk the two Karnataka openers Robin Uthappa and Mayank Agarwal. They will be keen to lay into the Central Zone batting on a ground that is likely to have a lot to offer. Central have one of the best bowling attacks of all the zones, while South are perhaps the best batting side.
