A fine century from mahesh Rawat and Central Zone are all but through to the final of the Duleep Trophy.

The match is slowly going beyond North Zone’s reach. Mahesh Rawat has scored a crucial innings and Karn Sharma has contributed well too. Lead now is 230 runs.

Wicket No 6 for North Zone. Central are still 181 runs ahead

On more wicket down. North bag the big wicket of Naman Ojha. They are 169 runs ahead.

Central Zone lead by 129 runs with six wickets still in hand. North will be desperate to bundle them out soon as a draw here means Central progress to final on the basis of first innings lead.

Is there a surprise in store. North Zone have already lost three wickets for 16 runs and are actually 95 for three by virtue of their 79-run lead.

Central Zone look to complete formalities against North Zone on the final day of the Duleep Trophy semi-final at Mohali. The two semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy couldn’t have been more contrasting. On one hand, South Zone just ripped apart East Zone bundling them out for two-digit drugs in both innings. At Mohali though, Central Zone batsmen capitalised on a flat deck and hammered a mammoth 538 thanks to double ton from Naman Ojha, a century from Jalaj Saxena. North’s response was led by Gautam Gambhir who hit 167 but didn’t find much support from fellow batsmen.

Barring Mandeep Singh and Nitin Saini, none of the other batsmen got past half-century and the North Zone tail lacked the resistance to take them beyond 538. With just a day’s play remaining, Central already have a step in to the final to take on South unless the last day here turns out to be a dramatic one.

Stay tuned for live updates of the match. The fourth day’s play is set to commence at 9:30am IST.
