Live Cricket Scores and Updates| England 16/1, 4 overs| Jason Roy 5(7), Joe Root 11(16)| Joe Root comes to the crease. Surely England would not want a repeat of the first ODI. Brilliant first over from Lakmal, taking the wicket of Hales and conceding just one run. Angelo Mathews to bowl from the other end. What a shot from Root! Ball from Lakmal is wide and short, and England’s No.3 latches onto it to score his first boundary. Rain is getting a little heavier.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| England 1/1, 0.3 overs| Jason Roy 1(2)| We are back underway after a lengthy rain delay. Suranga Lakmal to bowl the first over. OUT! Sri Lanka make their first breakthrough as Hales departs.

Hales c Chandimal b Lakmal 0(1)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 248/9, 50 overs| Suranga Lakmal 3(6) ,Nuwan Pradeep 2(5)| That is it folks Sri Lanka could only manage 248 runs against England. It was Woakes in the 49th over who picked up crucial wickets of Tharanga and Maharoof. Tharanga was instrumental in getting Sri Lanka near the 250 mark or else they would have been stuck at 220-230. Tharanga made a quick-fire 40 off 33 balls. It was Woakes who was the pick of the bowler for England grabbing 3-wickets for just 34 runs.

Upul Tharanga b Woakes 40 (33)

F Maharoof c Bairstow b Woakes 9 (11)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 215/7, 45 overs| Upul Tharanga 20(24)| OUT!! Rashid into his last over has been on the expensive side. OUT!! Dasun Shanaka has been run-out on the final ball of the over. Shanka was looking for a quick single. Tharanga was looking to complete two-runs. It will depend onTharanga will also hope to give the long-handle treatment in the final overs. OUT!! Angelo Mathews departs for 56 from 56 balls. Mathews was instrumental in getting Sri Lanka past 200. It was Tharanga and Mathews who have saved Sri Lanka from a collapse.

Angelo Mathews c Buttler b Jordan 56 (67)

Dasun Shanaka run out 2 (8)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 186/5, 40 overs| Angelo Mathews 46(58), Upul Tharanga 7(7)| 13 overs to go, and the last designated pair are at the crease. Good bowling from Plunkett, as he bowls at the body of Mathews after he steps down the crease. The Sri Lankan skipper though, does well to squeak out a double. Just one over to go before the final powerplay. Rain is around the corner. Really good shot from Tharanga through mid-wicket for a boundary.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 172/5, 37 overs| Angelo Mathews 40(47)| With 15 overs remaining, Sri Lanka will be targeting a score in excess of 280. OUT! Chandimal departs for a well made 62. Seekkuge Prasanna comes into the crease. OUT! Prasanna looks for a big shot, but is caught at the deep. Upul Tharanga comes in.

Chandimal c Jordan b Woakes 62(77)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 165/3, 35 overs| Dinesh Chandimal 61(74), Angelo Mathews 37(43)| Jordan replaces Rashid in the attack, as England are searching for a wicket. England have done well to fight back a bit, with the 31st and 32nd over going for a total of five runs. Good piece of fielding from Rashid at fine leg. Saves two runs. Chandimal reaches his half-century of 65 deliveries. Woakes returns back into the attack. Loosener from Plunkett is easily glided towards fine leg for a boundary by Chandimal. It’s Drinks now.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 143/3, 30 overs| Dinesh Chandimal 47(59), Angelo Mathews 30(28)| Another brilliant shot from Mathews, who steps up the pitch to hit Plunkett’s ball over mid-on for a six. He is looking really positive in here. Willey replaces Plunkett. A rare misfield from Plunkett allows an extra run for Mathews. Rashid continues, but his first ball goes for a boundary through slip, where ball went under the hands of Joe Root. A rare boundary for Chandimal, who plays a good peddle sweep. 50-run partnership comes up as Chandimal guides the ball towards fine leg for a boundary.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 104/3, 25 overs| Dinesh Chandimal 25(43), Angelo Mathews 13(14)| Skipper Mathews comes into the crease. Both the batsmen in the middle are half-fit, so expect singles and doubles to come sparingly. Plunkett continues in the attack. Mathews shows his intent the very first ball of the over, stepping down the pitch and scoring a boundary over mid-off. Second boundary of the innings for Mathews, as he nudges the Rashid’s ball towards the leg side for a boundary. In the meantime, 100 is up for Sri Lanka.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 88/3, 21.2 overs| Dinesh Chandimal 23(35)| The visitors are going just above 4 RPO. Chandimal isn’t looking as fluent, but Mendis looks in touch. Rashid continues as he concedes five runs of his fourth over. Plunkett is pulled back into the attack, with England looking for a wicket. OUT! Mendis tries to play another pull shot, but is caught at the leg side boundary.

Mendis c Hales b Plunkett 53(66)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 82/2, 20 overs| Kusal Mendis 51(63), Dinesh Chandimal 19(30)| Chandimal goes for a heave of Rashid’s ball. Luckily for him, the ball goes over the mid on for a boundary. And it’s DRINKS! Sri Lanka would be happy these two have stuck to the task. Mendis takes on Jordan, heaving his short ball over mid-on for his fifth boundary. SIX! Another short one from Jordan, and Mendis pulls it beautifully for a maximum. Run-Rate has suddenly jumped up above four. Half-century for Mendis. It has come at a good pace.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 58/2, 16 overs| Kusal Mendis 38(51), Dinesh Chandimal 8(18)| Both the batsmen are really struggling to rotate the strike or either get a boundary. Currently, Sri Lanka are going just above 3 runs per over, which is not good enough. Spin into the attack, as Adil Rashid comes to bowl. Good over for Sri Lanka, as eight runs come off it.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 40/2, 12 overs| Kusal Mendis 27(40), Dinesh Chandimal 2(5)| Chandimal comes in at No.4, with his team in a spot of bother. Ten overs have been bowled, and Sri Lanka are 34/2, with both the openers back into the pavilion. Another boundary for Mendis, as he pulls the ball through the mid-wicket. Chris Jordan comes into the attack, replacing Woakes.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 32/2, 8.2 overs| Kusal Mendis 21(23)| Woakes continues on for his third over, as the Sri Lankan batsmen are struggling to get going. Mendis, frustrated by lack of runs, tries to play a big shot. The ball hits the edge of his bat and falls safely. What a shot from Mendis! The ball from Willey is a bit short, and he gets into position to cut it away for his side’s second boundary. DROPPED! Perera hits a shot with great power straight at Woakes, who is unable to hold onto it. Liam Plunkett comes in as the first change. OUT! Perera goes for a big shot, but is caught by Buttler.

Kusal Perera c Buttler b Plunkett 9(25)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 16/1, 5 overs| Kusal Perera 3(14), Kusal Mendis 11(14)| Chris Woakes to bowl from the other end. First boundary of the evening, as Mendis plays a brilliant cut shot. Maiden over from Woakes, which also included a good lbw shout against Perera. Willey continues as a brilliant bit of fielding from Hales, who stops a certain boundary, and then nearly runs out Mendis.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates| Sri Lanka 4/1, 1 over| Kusal Perera 1(3), Kusal Mendis 1(1)| We are underway as David Willey to bowl the first over. OUT! Gunathilaka tries to leave the ball, but ball hits his bat’s inside edge and crashes onto the stump. Kusal Mendis comes in next.

Gunathilaka b Willey 1(2)

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Kusal Perera, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Upul Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal(w), Angelo Mathews(c), Dasun Shanaka, Farveez Maharoof, Seekkuge Prasanna, Nuwan Pradeep, Suranga Lakmal

England (Playing XI): Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler(w), Chris Woakes, David Willey, Liam Plunkett, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid

England have won the toss and have decided to bowl first! Both teams make a change, as Chris Jordan is in place for Moeen Ali for England. For the visitors, Dasun Shanaka replaces Suraj Randiv.

England have been dominant throughout the tour. The team has excelled in every department, be it batting, bowling or fielding to not let Sri Lanka win a single match so far. Jonny Bairstow did exceptionally well in the Tests, while Alex Hales has been brilliant across formats, being the pivotal reason behind England’s success. England’s bowling attack in the ODIs so far has been a team effort which they pulled off perfectly to restrict Sri Lanka within lower scores.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have displayed par performances so far, given the potential the squad has. The two names who did well consistently well are skipper Angelo Mathews and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal. However, the injuries, though minor, of these two will keep the team in tension. The third ODI is a do or die for the Lankans in order to win the series. Their bowling will have to work as a unit and not let England amass a lot of runs.

Squads:

England: , Eoin Morgan (c), Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Steven Finn, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, James Vince
