There it is! India A complete a comprehensive win by 87 runs as the Sri Lankans begin this Indian tour on a losing note. Lot of hard for them ahead, it seems.
Just one more wicket in hand for Sri Lanka. It’s been a terrific performance by the India A side. Parvez Rasool gets rid of Ashan Priyanjan, caught by Karn Sharma.
OUT! A Priyanjan c Karn b Rasool 23 (31)
Thisara Perera is back in the hut without making any significant score. He has been dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, caught by Rohit Sharma for 13.
OUT! T Perera c Rohit b Kuldeep 13 (16)
Niroshan Dickwella is gone! Sri Lanka are struggling as the wicketkeeper-batsman has been dismissed for 29 by Dhawal Kulkarni.
OUT! Dickwella b Kulkarni 29 (27)

Sri lanka need 172 in 78 balls. After spinners strangled the middle-order, the pacers are back in action with Dhawal Kulkarni and Stuart Binny in to the attack. The Lankans seem content to be lasting till the 50th over than go for this big chase.
Dickwella and Ashan Priyanjan have used the sweep shots to good effect. They have picked a few boundaries off Kuldeep and Karn. But the required rate is creeping beyond their reach.
One more wicket for the leggie. He has been impeccable today. For the second time in the day he has dismissed a batsman with his wrong one. Jayawardene made room for a big shot and the ball went through to disturb the stumps.
OUT! M Jayawardene b Karn 33(31b)
Went for a slog-sweep off bowling. Didn’t connect well and Karun Nair at deep square-leg took a well judged catch. Karn Sharma has picked his third wicket of the match.
OUT! A Mathews c Karun b Karn 3(14b)
Tharanga hopped down the track and looked to clear midwicket, but the ball flew straight to Unmukt. Big breakthrough for India A. Tharanga was striking the ball well. He stroked 18 boundaries.
OUT! U Tharanga 76(75)
Upul Tharanga gets to his half-century in the 20th over in 57 balls. He has hit eight boundaries, four of which came in one over of Dhawal Kulkarni. Parveez Rasool has dismissed Sangakkara. Sangakkara was playing fluently but this time around he tried to go for a delicate glide down the slips, a shot associated with Jayawardene. Unmukt Chand takes a sharp catch at slips. Jayawardene is the new man in.
OUT! K Sangakkara 34(35)

It is drinks now.

Sangakkara has started loosening his arms and hitting the spinners for runs. A pull shot against Karn Sharma for four showed his confidence. These two have built a steady partnership in the mammoth chase.

Spin from both ends now. With Karn Sharma bowling a disciplined line, Parvez Rasool has been brought on from the other end. Concedes four runs in his first over. India A’s fielding has been brilliant so far.

Karn Sharma removed Dilshan on his first ball. Pitched on length and Dilshan tried to pull it and missed the line. A vociferous appeal and the umpire raised his finger. Dilshan looked edgy and his short stay at the crease has ended.

OUT! T Dilshan 14(24)

Tharanga had hammered four consecutive boundaries in the third over of the chase. Binny from the other end, tested Dilshan with a few short balls. A good start from Lanka after the early loss. Binny and Dhawal have bowled at a probing length. Dilshan and Tharanga have struggled to get going after a brisk start to the partnership

Tillakaratne Dilshan off the mark with a drive past mid-off for four. Earlier, Tharanga opened his account with a glide down the leg-side for a single.

Kusal Perera starts the innings with a few crisp cover drives punched off the backfoot. He manages to breach the covers once. But on the final ball, Dhawal Kulkarni pitches it up and he goes for a drive and is caught behind.

OUT! K Perera c Samson b Dhawal 4(6)

The last over starts. Pandey and Stuart Binny get a couple of singles to start with. Pandey then hits a four. That takes the score past 380. This should be a formidable score. India A must have felt they would have got 400 but some late wickets have pegged them back here. And Binny is gone off the last ball. So India A go back on 381 for six. Tiwary and Rohit’s tons have taken them to this huge score. Will Sri Lanka get this? Do join us in some time to know.

OUT! S Binny 1(3)

Dhammika Prasad has dismissed Manoj Tiwary, who has been caught by Ashan Priyanjan for 36. Kedar Jadhav is the new man in the middle. And he has been dismissed for a duck. He has been caught by Gamage. Prasad pulling thinks back here. In fact, Sri Lanka have done well in the last couple of overs to limit the damage. Pandey is still out there. Sanju Samson is the new man and he gets a single off the first ball he faces. Samson is also dismissed as Priyanjan takes the catch. Good over by Prasad. Three wickets and only two runs.

OUT! M Tiwary 36(26) K Jadhav 0(2) S Samson 1(2)

A quiet over to start with. Only two runs come off the first four balls. Somewhat a relief for Sri Lanka here. So, ultimately, only four runs have come off this over. This has quietened proceedings here.

Manish pandey and Manoj Tiwary make merry as India A are now past 360. If they have to get to 400, it will take another effort in the last three overs here. In the last seven overs, they have maintained the tempo and ensured that there are no comebacks for the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Pandey has hit a boundary in this over as India A get closer to 350. He is now in the 120s. Tiwary gets a single to help India A cross 350 and then Pandey smashes a four.

Six runs have come off this over. Tiwary and Pandey will now look to charge in the last five overs. The base is set and they would want to throw their bats at everything here. The score is already a formidable one.

Tiwary gets into the act and is hitting the ball well already. He hit a six to get things going for him. A few boundaries have come off in the last few overs. They are already 335 in 44 overs. Another 65 runs required in six overs if they are to get 400. This has been a very dominating innings by the India A side.

Rohit Sharma has been dismissed. Lahiru Gamage has got him run-out and that has ended a very good innings from Rohit. He makes his way back to the pavilion as Manoj Tiwary walks to the centre with Pandey in a dominant position in the middle.

OUT! Rohit 142(111)

Some serious hitting in store at the Brabourne Stadium. Pandey is now on 99 and Rohit is now motoring towards a 150-plus score. Pandey has got his ton. What an innings it has been! This is a serious exhibition of batting from this unit here. How much will India A get in the last 10 overs?

Rohit and Pandey have taken the game by the scruff of the neck at the Brabourne Stadium. Pandey has now moved into the 90s and Rohit has also unleashed an array of strokes after getting his century. This means that India A are looking to put up a huge score here. They are touching 300 already. Is 400 on the cards with more than 10 overs to go?

Rohit Sharma has got his century. What an innings it has been for him. This brings back the confidence after a long injury lay-off as he eyes that berth back in the Indian one-day side. And on the other hand, even Pandey has made a mark in this game as he has got his half-century. India A looking good for a huge score here. Only 34 overs gone and they are already 244.

Pandey and Rohit are in the phase where they seem to be consolidating. With the 30th over mark approaching, they have the chance to set the platform and then they would be preparing for the charge. There are some serious hitters to come later in the order and India A would do well to put up a good score.

Rohit Sharma is moving along solidly and now Manish Pandey has moved into the 40s. Remember, he was picked for the India T20 side before that game had to be cancelled due to the pull-out from the West Indies. Here, we have him pushing a strong case for himself.

Rohit Sharma has got his fifty and is leading a good charge here for India A. Manish Pandey has also come in and done well.

India A are off to a very good start against Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma is doing well and got his 50, and Unmukt Chand scored a half-century before being dismissed.

With their key players missing, the new faces in the Sri Lankan side look to make an impact in the few opportunities they could get, while fringe players from India aim for impressing selectors ahead of the limited-overs season and ICC World Cup 2015.

The senior players of the Sri Lankan side have all hinted about their dissatisfaction over the hastily arranged five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against India. With little option left, the Lankans will have to tweak their mindset and look forward to the series from the perspective of the ICC World Cup 2015 preparation. They have some new faces for the old pros especially in the bowling department. On the other hand a few players in the India A side have a lot at stake in this tour match and the limited overs domestic matches (Deodhar and Vijay Hazare Trophy) ahead.
