Complete coverage of Ranji Trophy 2015-16

Live cricket scores Delhi 301 & 22/0 (f/o) | Karnataka 542 | Overs 13 | Batting: Unmukt Chand 3(36), Gautam Gambhir 13(43): It’s Stumps here at Hubli. Delhi who were following on were 22 for no loss at the end of third day’s play. Delhi is still trailing by 219 runs and its batsmen will be hoping to get rid of this deficit tomorrow before they post a score for Karnataka to chase in the final innings. However, it’s an uphill task for Delhi since all Karnataka bowlers are bowling well and were among wickets in the first innings. Delhi batters will have to remain particularly wary of Vinay Kumar and Mithun A. Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow as well for the fourth day’s coverage of Ranji Trophy 2015-16, Round eight match between Karnataka and Delhi. Cheerio!

Live cricket scores Delhi 301 & 20/0 (f/o) | Karnataka 542 | Overs 10 | Batting: Unmukt Chand 2(33), Gautam Gambhir 12(28): Delhi have started batting in their second innings after being asked to follow-on by the opposition captain Vinay Kumar. Unmukt Chand and Gautam Gambhir are taking time to get their eye in. Gambhir has also slammed a four. Vinay Kumar and Sharath HS have started the proceedings for Karnataka. Vinay has bowled well in his four overs but has not succeeded. Still it’s early time and he is in good touch. Maybe luck is not on his side. He bowled pretty well in the second innings of the match too but got just one wicket. Let’s not forget he slammed a quick fifty in Karnataka’s innings.

Innings Break

Live cricket scores Delhi 301 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 104.1 | Batting: Navdeep Amarjeet Saini 13(25):  Navdeep Amarjeet Saini slams a boundary. Pawan Suyal fails to judge the line of a Shreyas Gopal’s delivery and is bowled. Delhi are bowled out for 301 and will have to follow-on since they were not able to cross the minimum 200-run margin to avert the follow-on. Tough job ahead for Delhi since batting won’t be easy in the little overs left to be bowled today and tomorrow. They may strive for a draw when they come to bat again. Still, we may see Delhi playing their natural game as it has happened before too. Delhi’s captain Gautam Gambhir may aim for chasing down the total and then post a decent score on board for Karnataka to chase; although the probability of this happening is low. OUT! Pawan Suyal b Shreyas Gopal 1(18)

Live cricket scores Delhi 297/9 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 103.3 | Batting: Navdeep Amarjeet Saini 9(22), Pawan Suyal 1(17): Nawdeep Amarjeet Saini and Pawan Suyal are striving hard to take Delhi past 300. Navdeep has hit one boundary so far. Delhi needs 46 runs to avert the follow-on. There have been three batsmen in Delhi’s innings who have went past their respective fifties but none of them succeeded in converting their starts into a big hundred. This has been the basic difference between Delhi and Karnataka’s batting. When a team is chasing a hefty first innings total, at least one of their batsmen should play a big knock. But for Delhi, none of their batsmen was able to do so and hence they are stranded on 297 for the loss of nine wickets.

Live cricket scores Delhi 292/9 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 97.5 | Batting: Navdeep Amarjeet Saini 5(5), Pawan Suyal 0(0): Vaibhav Rawal gets out after a well played 54; he hit five boundaries in his knock. Pradeep Sangwan soon follows suit and gets out for 17. Mithun A took both the wickets. Pawan Suyal has arrived at the crease. He will bat along with Navdeep Amarjeet Saini. Let’s see how long Karnataka take to get rid of the final wicket. Delhi are trailing by 250 runs.  OUT! Vaibhav Rawal lbw Mithun A 54(81), OUT! Pradeep Sangwan c Gautam b Mithun A 17(41)

Live cricket scores Delhi 269/7 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 89.3 | Batting:  Vaibhav Rawal 47(66), Pradeep Sangwan 6(10): Karnataka bowler Sharath HS succeeds in breaking Delhi’s seventh wicket partnership between Vaibhav Rawal and Manan Sharma. Their partnership was worth 93 runs and helped Delhi immensely but just when it was appearing lethal, Sharath does the trick for Karnataka. Manan is caught after a quickfire 56 off only 66 balls. He struck 11 boundaries in his knock. Pradeep Sangwan has come to the middle. He needs to give a helping hand to Vaibhav Rawal who is batting on 47 having struck four boundaries. Delhi are trailing by 273 runs. OUT! Manan Sharma c Gautam b Sharath HS 56(66)

Live cricket scores Delhi 246/6 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 84.4 | Batting:  Vaibhav Rawal 30(50), Manan Sharma 56(65): Vaibhav Rawal and Manan Sharma’s seventh wicket partnership has fetched Delhi 80 runs and they are still going strong. Manan has went past his fifty with the help of 11 fours. Just what the doctor ordered for Delhi. However, Delhi are still far behind Karnataka’s first innings total of 542. Their basic aim should be to play each ball to its merit rather than looking at Karnataka’s hefty total on board. Delhi fans will be hoping that this partnership continues to blossom at least till they avert a follow-on by scoring 97 more runs. Karnataka needs to break this partnership now or else it may pose danger later on.

Live cricket scores Delhi 198/6 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 78 | Batting:  Vaibhav Rawal 17(33), Manan Sharma 21(41): Delhi batters— Vaibhav Rawal and Manan Sharma are trying to stabilise the innings after a middle-order batting collapse. Their partnership is now worth 32 runs. Delhi needs 144 runs to avert the follow-on from here onwards. Navdeep Amarjeet Saini is next in the batting order unless Delhi’s skipper Gautam Gambhir thinks otherwise. Barring Gambhir, no other Delhi batsman has shown resistance and that is the reason that they are finding it difficult to even reach 300. But credit should also be given to Karnataka bowlers for bowling in the right areas and bringing variations in their speed at the right times.

Live cricket scores Delhi 169/6 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 70 | Batting:  Vaibhav Rawal 7(17), Manan Sharma 2(9): Arvind Sreenath picks his second wicket, he traps Punit Bisht leg-before. Manan Sharam has come to the middle after Punit’s departure. Delhi are in shambles; wickets are falling like a pack of cards. Delhi are still trailing by 373 runs and they have just four wickets in hand. They started off well and were just two down till the 100-run-mark. Their last four wickets fell for just 30 runs (when scoreboard read 136 till 166). Karnataka bowlers are bowling very well and Delhi batsmen are finding it hard to score runs against them. We are already running in Delhi’s tail. Let’s see for how long it wags. Will the tailenders succed in helping Delhi avoid the follow-on. OUT! Punit Bisht lbw Arvind Sreenath 1(20)

Live cricket scores Delhi 160/5 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 65 | Batting:  Vaibhav Rawal 1(1), Punit Bisht 1(14): Delhi are losing wickets very quickly. Milind is trapped leg-before by Sharath HS for 10 runs. Punit Bisht has arrived at the crease after Milind’s departure. Delhi have now lost half their side and are still trailing by 382 runs. Good thing for Karnataka is that all their bowlers have contributed. Five Delhi wickets that have fallen were taken by five different bowlers— Vinay Kumar, Arvind Sreenath, Sharath HS, Karun Nair and Shreyas Gopal. Good job by Karnataka bowlers after their batsmen made a massive 542. Vaibhav Rawal and Punit Bisht have a hard task ahead; they need to make sure that Delhi do not lose another wicket and also keep the scoreboard ticking. OUT! Milind lbw Sharath HS 10(24)

Live cricket scores Delhi 158/4 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 62.2 | Batting: Milind 10(23), Vaibhav Rawal 0(0): Karnataka’s skipper Vinay Kumar picks his first wicket, he sends Nitish Rana back to the dugout for 32 runs. Just when Rana had started to play more freely, he got out.  Vaibhav Rawal has arrived at the crease after Rana’s departure. Delhi are trailing by 384 runs. OUT! Nitish Rana c CM Gautam b Vinay Kumar 32(71)

Live cricket scores Delhi 157/3 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 61 | Batting: Nitish Rana 32(67), Milind 9(19): Nitish Rana and Milind’s fourth wicket partnership has fetched Karnataka 21 runs as of now. Nitish is looking set now and has started playing his shots, he has struck four boundaries so far. Milind is giving him good support at the other end. Delhi are trailing by 385 runs.

Live cricket scores Delhi 136/3 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 52.1 | Batting: Nitish Rana 20(33), Milind 0(1): Delhi lose their third wicket; Gauatam Gambhir gets out for 75. Gambhir struck 10 boundaries in his knock. Milind has arrived at the crease after Gambhir’s dismissal. Delhi are trailing by 406 runs. Match is still firmly tilted in Karnataka’s favour right now. Arvind Sreenath, Karun Nair and Shreyas Gopal have picked one wicket each. OUT! Gautam Gambhir c Gautam b Karun Nair 75(151)

Live cricket scores Delhi 95/2 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 43.4 | Batting:  Gautam Gambhir 51(119), Nitish Rana 5(14): Gambhir slams two boundaries. Delhi lose their second wicket Dhruv Shorey. Dhruv was trapped leg-before by Shreyas Gopal. Gautam Gambhir has reached his half-century with the help of seven boundaries. Nitish Rana is the new man at the crease. Delhi are now trailing by 447 runs. OUT! Dhruv Shorey lbw Shreyas Gopal 16(65)

Live cricket scores Delhi 72/1 | Karnataka 542 |  Overs 34 | Batting:  Gautam Gambhir 41(99), Dhruv Shorey 8(42): Delhi have resumed their batting from their overnight score of 60 for the loss of one wicket. Both Gautam Gambhir and Dhruv Shorey are batting sensibly and with discipline. 12 runs have come in the first five overs since morning today. Gambhir is approaching his half century, he has struck four shots to the fence till now. Dhruv, on the other hand is batting very patiently with a strike rate of 18. Delhi now trail by 470 runs.

Uthappa smashed 148 in just 141 deliveries, that included 16 fours and six sixes, while Agarwal was more patient during his 209-ball 118 that contained 19 boundaries. The duo shared 236-run second-wicket partnership after the dismissal of Ravikumar Samarth. Pandey and skipper Vinay Kumar’s fifties helped propel the side, who resumed from their overnight score of 358 for 3, past the 500-run mark.

For Delhi, left-arm seamer Pradeep Sangwan bowled 35 overs taking 3 for 102 in the process. The best figures were recorded by seamer Navdeep Saini (3 for 85 in 32 overs). Another left-armer Pawan Suyal (2 for 123 in 31 overs) was a touch expensive than the other two. The maximum overs were sent down by left-arm spinner Manan Sharma, who bowled 41 overs, to take two wickets giving away 147 runs in the process.
