On the first day the defending champions kept Maharashtra down to 212 in the first innings and with the bat went with the score of 50 for one at stumps. They are now trailing by 162 runs with nine wickets in hand and have the opportunity to take an insurmountable first innings lead. Karnataka’s bowling was a team effort with all who took the ball picking wickets. Sreenath Aravind led the charts with a 3-for. At stumps they had lost the sole wicket of Ravikumar Samarth while Mayank Agarwal was at the crease with the in-form Robin Uthappa. Karnataka will be hoping for these two to make a big partnership and get Karnataka close to the lead. Maharashtra’s chances in this match already look faint even for a draw.
