New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum becomes the first player in history to play 100 continuous Tests since debut, without missing a single game. This two-Test series will also be the final international series he will be a part of as will retire from all forms at the end of this series. His teammates will want to give him the perfect send off and the only way to do that will be to win this match and the series as well. Australia, having lost the One-Day International (ODI) series, will want to avenge their loss by putting up a good show and winning the series. Live Cricket Score Australia 147/3  | Overs 40  | New Zealand 183 | BATTING: Usman Khawaja 57(96), Adam Voges 7(23): An extra over was given towards the end of the day and Bracewell managed to make a breakthrough, smacking off Voges’ stumps. What followed next must have left the hosts heart-broken! On-field umpire, Richard Illingworth, raises his hand, signalling no-ball. The replays however show Bracwell had his heel just on the line, dramatic end to Day-1 of the first Test. Three runs of the final over. Will this poor decision by the umpire go on to affect the Kiwis’ result? The umpire will only hope it doesn’t!

Live Cricket Score Australia 136/3  | Overs 36  | New Zealand 183 | BATTING: Usman Khawaja 51(89), Adam Voges 3(5): Mark Craig made a crucial breakthrough when he came in to bowl his 7th over. Smith was looking good until the delivery from Craig which Smith returned to him sweeping to his right. Craig was in turn very alert going down to his left side and finishing a superb low catch. Smith was not convinced, saying the ball had bounced before going into the hands of the bowler. The on-field umpire checks with the 3rd umpire who fnally declares him out. Meanwhile, Khawaja brings up his 4th Test FIFTY. Craig breaks the 126-run stand between the duo. The 35th over turned out to be a good one for the Kiwis, just 2 runs and a wicket. OUT! Live Cricket Score Australia 97/2  | Overs 23  | New Zealand 183 | BATTING: Usman Khawaja 34 (57), Steven Smith 53 (73): And with a brilliant boundary comes in skipper’s half-century on Mark Craig spell. Khawaja is equally playing well picking up the pace now to catch up with Smith. Craig has far played played his best spells with just four runs from that 23rd over. This is his first over yet and merely four runs from it. And that ends the 23rd over.

Live Cricket Score Australia 76/ 2 | Overs 19 | New Zealand 183 | BATTING: Usman Khawaja 30 (48), Steven Smith 41 (55): Khawaja and Smith looking for early finish of the innings with a boundary in every over. Smith has almost approached his half-century after two early wickets in the start of Australia innings. Doug Bracewell and Corey Anderson found no luck with wickets. Tim Southee did get the best start for New Zealand but seem to have no way to take it forward. Khawaja is taking his time to settle with bat, while Smith is taking lead being the skipper. And Khawaja completes 30 runs with a wonderful boundary in that 19th over.

Live Cricket Score Australia 27 /2 | Overs 11 | New Zealand 183 | BATTING: Usman Khawaja 8 (27), Steven Smith 14 (28): Australia start their innings on Day 1 after tea and are already two down with David Warner and Joe Burns were caught on early by Watling with both wickets picked by Tim Southee. New Zealand need to control the innings here on after a very low total posed by them. This will Brendon McCullum’s last jig with Test matches. Live Cricket Score New Zealand 183 | Overs 48| BATTING: Mark Craig 41 (57): All over for New Zealand and they have been bowled out for 183 in their first innings, which is not a good score by any stretch of imagination. New Zealand could manage only these many runs despite an entertaining 46-run stand for the 10th wicket between Craig and Boult. Boult was the last man dismissed for 24. OUT! Watling and Anderson have played sensibly and their 33-ru stand has kept New Zealand going. they will hope to bat through the second session as well. New Zealand will go into the series full of confidence. They recently secured a 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka and then followed it up with some clinical performances in limited-overs fixtures against Pakistan recently. Australia too have been in excellent from in Tests lately. They thrashed West Indies 2-0 in the recent home series and also beat New Zealand by the same margin when the Kiwis went Down Under. It was a competitive series, which also included the first ever day-night Test at Adelaide.

Henry Nicholls is all set to make his Test debut for New Zealand, after impressing in his short limited-overs career so far. For Australia, Jackson Bird was included in the squad in place of the injured James Pattinson. Medium pacer Chadd Sayers too gets his maiden international call.
