NZ win by 55 runs | Retain Chappell-Hadlee Trophy | Live Cricket Score, New Zealand vs Australia 2015-16, 3rd ODI at Hamilton

The series is level at 1-1 and this match will be the decider.

Hello and welcome to Cricket Country’s coverage of the third One-Day International (ODI) between New Zealand and Australia at Hamilton. I am Suraj Choudhari along with Sakshi Gupta, and we will bring you the live updates of the series decider. This match will mark the final time Brendon McCullum plays for New Zealand in ODIs. New Zealand will want to give their skipper a good send off and there is no better way of doing it than winning the match and retaining the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. New Zealand won the first game at Auckland by a mammoth 159-run margin. They should have won the second match too, but a gritty seventh wicket partnership between Mitchell Marsh and John Hastings ensured that the hosts do not seal the series with a game to spare. LIVE SCORECARD: New Zealand vs Australia 2015-16, 3rd ODI at Hamilton

Player of the Match: Ish Sodhi [ 3 for 31, Smith & Maxwell’s wicket]

MATCH REPORT: New Zealand bowlers help thrash Australia by 55 runs in 3rd ODI at Hamilton; Take series 2-1

Live Cricket Scores and Updates New Zealand win by 55 runs | Retain Chappell-Hadlee Trophy | Usman Khawaja 44(36) David Warner 16(14) Steven Smith 21(35) George Bailey 33(60) Glenn Maxwell 0(2) Mitchell Marsh 41(42) Matthew Wade 17(26) John Hastings 6(19) Adam Zampa 2(11) Josh Hazlewood 5*(5) Scott Boland 2(12) | Matt Henry 10-1-60-3 Adam Milne 8.4-0-42-1 Corey Anderson 6-1-16-2 Doug Bracewell 6-0-15-1 Ish Sodhi 8-0-31-2 Grant Elliott 5-0-25-0

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 191 in 43.4 overs | Lose by 55 runs | Whaddacatch by Baz, dives forward at slips and slides his finger underneath, just one wicket left now! Hazlewood and Boland are dealing in singles, if they pull this off it will be nothing short of a miracle. Hazlewood slashes hard, gets an outside-edge for four off Milne, they’re not giving up on the chase, for sure! Boland gets a single off Anderson. Milne attempts a vvvvvvvvvvverrrrrry slow ball, Boland misses, the ball brushes off-stump. And Boland attempts a run, and a direct hit from Henry Nicholls runs out Boland, it’s all over! OUT! Adam Zampa c Brendon McCullum b Corey Anderson 2(11)! Scott Boland run out (Henry Nicholls) 2(12)!

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 184/8 in 40 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Adam Zampa 1(5), Josh Hazlewood 0(0): On comes Ish Sodhi, and Wade pulls him for four. Seven runs off that over. Adam Milne compensates for that maiden, conceding a solitary run to Hastings off the last ball of the over. Anderson comes back, and strikes first ball: Hastings was doing a nice job, holding one end up and giving the strike back to Wade, but he cannot resist the hook! He top-edges — and Grant Elliott takes it! Zampa is the new batsman. Milne continues. Wade is still not going for the big shots, he trusts Zampa. Zampa gives the strike back. Asking rate creeps above six, and Wade perishes, trying to pull Milne! Guptill takes a diving catch at mid-wicket! OUT! John Hastings c Grant Elliott b Corey Anderson 6(19)! Matthew Wade c Martin Guptill b Adam Milne 17(26)!

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 171/6 in 36 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Matthew Wade 9(19), John Hastings 3(8): Marsh and Wade continue to deal in singles before Henry strikes! Freakish dismissal! Henry unleashes a yorker, Mitch Marsh tries to keep it out, that takes his bat, then boot, and lobs back to Henry! That is drinks. Henry bowls out with 10-1-60-3. Elliott bowls an excellent over, just a single off it, but Australia can afford to play out a couple of maidens. They need to keep wickets in hand. Milne replaces Henry. OUT! Mitchell Marsh c & b Matt Henry 41(42)!

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 160/5 in 32 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Mitchell Marsh 39(36), Matthew Wade 3(9): Matt Henry strikes for New Zealand. He dismissed Bailey in the 30th over, leaving Australia at 153 for 5. He became the fourth-fastest to reach 50 ODI wickets after Mendis, Agarkar & McClenaghan in terms of number of wickets. However, Marsh is still strong in the middle smashing the hosts’ bowlers. Until you get him, the hosts are not winning this contest. Bailey while trying to go big got an inside edge and that smacked his stumps. 20 runs off the last 4 overs. OUT! George Bailey b Matt Henry 33(60)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 140/4 in 28 overs | Target 247 | Batting: George Bailey 31(53), Mitchell Marsh 24(28): These two have settled now, which clearly is no good news for the hosts. Elliot happened to be expensive in his second over, giving away 11 runs. Marsh targeted him for two consecutive boundaries in the 26th over, the first one was smashed to the cover boundary and that was followed by an excellent timing which beat Nicholas at deep. That over allowed the duo to get back their touch. This time it was Bailey who went for a big one. Anderson was next in, Bailey ended a decent over from the bowler with a FOUR towards the fine leg boundary. After a total of 22 runs from 25th, 26th and 27th over, Henry came back strong giving just 2 runs at the end of over No. 28.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 116/4 in 24 overs | Target 247 | Batting: George Bailey 23(41), Mitchell Marsh 11(6) : Bracewell, Sodhi continue to trouble the Australians. Their last two boundaries came after a gap of 11 deliveries. 23 runs off the last 4 overs, Australia are slowing recovering after dismissals of Smith and Maxwell in quick succession. Now Grant Elliott brought into action, he is capable of making breakthroughs. Just three runs off his first over. These dots balls will do too, the pressure will increase on the Australians.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 95/4 in 20 overs | Target 247 | Batting: George Bailey 13(32), Mitchell Marsh 0(1) : Ish Sodhi has made the game wide open here! 2 wickets in 3 balls, massive, massive wickets of Smith and Glenn Maxwell. The figures now for Sodhi are 4 overs, 8 runs and two wickets. What a day is turning out to be for this spinner. If Australia goes on to lose this game, these dismissals are undoubtedly the turning points. Smith reviewed for the LBW, but the hot spot showed it was plumb. Maxwell got tempted from the leg brak, while he tried to go bit, he just got a thick edge flying into the ahnds of McCullum in the first slip. The Black Caps are doing it for this man! OUT! Steven Smith LBW Ish Sodhi 21(35), OUT! Glenn Maxwell c Brendon McCullum b Ish Sodhi 0(2)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 93/2 in 18 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Steven Smith 21(33), George Bailey 11(25): Australia managed only 14 runs off the last 4 overs. While Sodhi has given only 4 runs in his last 2 overs, 9 runs off his last two overs. However, Smith and Bailey somehow have been managing to take those singles and occasional boundaries. And that would do for them because the target is not huge.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 79/2 in 14 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Steven Smith 17(22), George Bailey 2(12): Brendon McCullum makes a bowling change watching the duo–Khawaja and Smith–taking over Milne and Henry. He brings in Bracewell in the 12th over, who struck on his very second ball. Good ball from Bracewell, Khawaja doesn’t move from the crease, finds a thick edge which is caught behind the wickets by Ronchi by diving to his left. McCullum is all smiles, he knows his captaincy has worked. Just 12 runs from the last 4 overs and a wicket. Bracewell gives just one run in his 2nd over, 14 overs gone now. Good spell from New Zealand. OUT! Usman Khawaja c Luke Ronchi b Doug Bracewell 44(36)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 67/1 in 10 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Usman Khawaja 38(31), Steven Smith 13(15): Matt Henry bowls a superb maiden over, immediately passing the pressure to their opponents. While Milne continued that, giving two runs off the four balls in the 8th over, Khawaja ensures Australia are ahead with a SIX and FOUR to end that over. He made full use of the pace of MIlne’s bouncer and clearly the long-off boundary. Next delivery, he elegantly pushes it as mid-off fielder just watches it pass the ropes of the boundary. A total of 26 runs off the last four overs. The boundaries towards the end made up for that maiden over.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 41/1 in 6 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Usman Khawaja 24(21), Steven Smith 1(1): Matt Henry strikes! David Warner mistimes, probably played it too early, punches to cover where Grant Elliot completes an easy catch. That wicket brought in Australia’s new T20I and already Test and limited-overs skipper, Steven Smith in the middle. Cricket Australia just announced, he will lead in the World T20 2016, sacking their regular T20I skipper, Aaron Finch. Earlier, after a good fist over, Milne was smashed by the openers for 1 runs in the 4th over. He makes a good comeback, gives just two singles after four dots to end the sixth over. New Zealand need more of these. OUT! David Warner c Grant Elliot b Matt Henry 16(14)

INNINGS REPORT: Grant Elliot’s fifty ensures New Zealand post 246 against Australia in 3rd ODI at Hamilton

Live Cricket Scores and Updates Australia 19/0 in 3 overs | Target 247 | Batting: Usman Khawaja 13(11), David warner 6(7): Khawaja playing his 5th ODI faced all the six balls of the first over. Matt Henry opened the bowling for New Zealand, after three dot balls, Khawaja opened his account of boundaries. Excellent footwork and timing as he used the gap between two fielders at point for a FOUR! Followed by two more dots. Adam Milne from the other end, good start for him as well, gives away just two runs. Henry back for his second over, this time Warner targets him. A short ball, Warner pulls it towards the ropes of square. Same over, Khawaja smashes his second boundary, Henry immediately under pressure. 13 runs off the third over, just what Australia wanted in the start. New Zealand can’t afford more of such expensive overs.

Meanwhile, Grant Elliot brings up his half-century. How much more can the Kiwis add to their total as we near to the innings end mark?

OUT! Corey Anderson c Usman Khawaja b Josh Hazlewood 27 (45)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates New Zealand 205/4 in 37 overs | Batting: Grant Elliott 33(47), Corey Anderson 18(30): New Zealand need boundaries here if they want to post a huge total on board in this series decider. 11 runs off the last 3 overs, Australians have managed to maintained the right line and length and this disciplined bowling has not let these big hitters on crease play their original game.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates New Zealand 194/4 in 34 overs | Batting: Grant Elliott 28(40), Corey Anderson 14(19): Anderson survives! Boland comes in for his 5th over, Anderson gets the ball a slight edge from the bottom of his bat, although he hit it hard, it flies to Khawaja at short cover who clearly makes a mess of it. Anderson has a broken bat at the end of 33rd over. In the previous delivery, when Boland went outside off, a fuller delivery, Anderson smashed it into the stands of over long off. That boundary came after a gap of 28 deliveries. The next over went for another four runs. Last 5 overs, the Black Caps have managed only 23 runs, which is no good news for them.

Josh Hazlewood made the improtant breakthrough, removing Nicholas, left New Zealand at 171 for 4. Nicholas shared a partnership of 40 runs with Elliot for 4th wicket. Hazlewood went a little outside off, while Nicholas tried to play a drive, he got a top edge that went straight into the hands of Steven Smith at the first slip. Bad shot, had to pay for it. OUT! Henry Nicholas c Steven Smith b Josh Hazlewood 18(29)

Live Cricket Scores and Updates  New Zealand 161/3 in 27 overs | Batting: Henry Nicholls 13(25), Grant Elliott 14(21): Zampa almost had a second wicket to his name in this match. He went for a short ball to which Nicholls just pulled, did not connect well and flew to Mitchell Marsh, just over his head who dropped it at square leg. New Zealand’s run rate has miserably fallen following the quick dismissals of Williamson and Guptill a couple of overs earlier. Meanwhile, Zampa who is playing only his second ODI for Australia has done an excellent job so far, 7 overs, a wicket and has maintained an economy below five.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates  New Zealand 98/1 in 12 overs | Batting: Martin Guptill 38(36), Kane Williamson 9(9): Brendon McCullum’s scintillating innings comes to an end as Mitchell Marsh gets rid of him. New Zealand will surely want him to bat for another few overs and bid adieu to ODI cricket in style. Australian bowlers clueless at the moment as they are finding it difficult to contain the flow of runs.

Live Cricket Scores and Updates  New Zealand 42/0 in 6 overs | Batting: Brendon McCullum 26(17), Martin Guptill 16(19): New Zealand look good and have got off to a decent start in first six overs. This piles more misery on the Australia selectors ahead of the ICC World T20 2016, as they already have many injuries to deal with. For New Zealand, all-rounder Mitchell Santner may not take part in this game and leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has been called as cover for Santner. Australia despite their middle-order collapse in the previous match managed to chase down 282 despite being 197 for 6 at one stage. Openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja got them off to an excellent start, but the likes of Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell and George Bailey failed to have an impact, as a result of which, the lower-order was put under immense pressure. They will surely need to work on that. READ: New Zealand vs Australia 2015-16, 3rd ODI: Joel Paris replaces Kane Richardson for series decider
