Australia are absolutely surging here. Warner is doing really well to score a lot of runs here. Things are not looking too great for Pakistan at the moment. Unless they can take a wicket or two right now, things could be really difficult for them.

After Babar and Hafeez, now it’s Yasir’s turn to come on to bowl. And David Warner gets to his sixth consecutive Test fifty! Rahat comes on again. And now Warner steps out off Yasir to smack him over long off for six.
Fifty runs put on by this pair. Rogers has been the perfect foil for Warner, he has absorbed deliveries while Warner has cut loose. Rogers has faced almost twice the number of balls Warner has, but the latter has double the runs.

Imran Khan not really getting the ball to move too much. Hafeez is getting the ball to turn a bit. Zulfiqar Babar comes on now. OH and he’s put down! Rogers gets beaten by the flight, finds the edge, but Younis lets it through his hands. And Warner goes for the reverse sweep and gets four to add to Zulfiqar’s pain.

The Australian openers have been watchful, with Rogers happily absorbing deliveries while Warner has opened up when the opportunity presented itself. Imran Khan doesn’t quite seem to have the same effect as his namesake.

Rahat Ali and Mohammad Hafeez open the bowling. Warner and Rogers have a tough task on their hands at the moment. If they get Australia off to a good start, it will be a big help, but a few early wickets can cause some serious damage.

Nathan Lyon continues after Tea. AND HE STRIKES! Rahat Ali departs, caught by Chris Rogers, and Pakistan have lost their ninth wicket. And with Zulfiqar Babar retired hurt, Pakistan have been bowled out for 454.
OUT! R Ali 0(2) c Rogers b Lyon

Mitchell Johnson seems to be troubling the batsmen and has laready resulted in an injury to Z Babar off a ball that hit his right hand middle finger. However, Ahmed is gone after scoring a brilliant knock of 109 off 104 balls.
S Ahmed 109 (104) st Haddin b Lyon

The seventh wicket goes down for Pakistan and its Yasir Shah who has to depart for just two runs. Making his debut, goes for a big one off O’Keefe over mid-on, completely mis-times it and hand a simple ctach to Chris Rogers.
Y Shah 2 (15) c Rogers b O’Keefe

It’s the hundred for Sarfraz Ahmed as he scores it off a brilliant and improvised boundary off Mitchell Marsh. A good moment in an important situation and would now be interesting to see if he could take Pakistan to a commanding total.

Shafiq falls short of a ton and is dismissed for 89 as he goes for a pull off O’Keefe, takes the edge and goes high up in the air to be collected safely by Mitchell Marsh.
A Shafiq 89 (151), c Marsh b O’Keefe

Pakistan are playing sensibly and comfortably at the present moment. Both the batsmen playing a good knock as they have scored fifty and are aiming a big total by the tea break. Shafiq is nearing a ton while Sarfraz is going after the bowlers as both bring up the 400 and 100-run partnership as well.

Pakistan in total command here as both Shafiq and Ahmed steer the innings forward. Shafiq, playing sensibly as he reaches his fifty whereas Ahmed is playing good and is well on his course to a possible fifty. However, it’s Mitchell Johnson causing trouble for the batsmen again with his in swinging deliveries.

So at Lunch on Day Two, Sarfaraz has invoked the spirit of Shahid Afridi in the middle. He is on 24 off 13 balls at the moment! Meanwhile, Asad Shafiq has got to his 10th Test fifty. He has looked solid, and would be very satisfied by this innings.

HUGE WICKET! Misbah, who was taking on the frontline spinners effortlessly, has holed out off Steve Smith of all people! Misbah tries to slog this one over midwicket, doesn’t get hold of it at all, and offers Mitch Johnson a simple chance. In walks Sarfaraz Khan, who gets off the mark with four down the ground. He has come out and hit his first five balls for 4, 2, 2, 4, 2!
OUT! Misbah 69(182) c Johnson b Smith

Misbah continues to leave the short balls and continues to get smacked on his arm and shoulder. It brings back memories of the Indian captain’s knock at Southampton earlier this year when MS Dhoni kept accepting the body blows in an effort to survive the probing spells. The difference here is that Misbah is looking to consolidate rather than survive. He is attacking the spinners and just absorbing the pacers here.

Siddle and Lyon bowling in tandem at the moment. Neither man is posing any pertinent questions, though Pakistan aren’t quite running away with the runs either. Steve O’Keefe comes on now. He is yet to pick up his maiden Test wicket. Shafiq has looked positive today, while Misbah has sandwiched his big hits with his usual stonewalling.

Lyon continues now. And Misbah hoists him over midwicket for six! Superb shot. Misbah gets to his fifty as well, but at the other end Johnson continues to churn out maidens.

Mitchell Johnson starts proceedings on Day Two. The left-arm speedster has taken three wickets already on what has been a slightly dead track. If anyone has looked like extracting life from this pitch though, it has been Mitch. He starts off with a maiden over to Misbah.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Day Two of the first Test between Pakistan and Australia at Dubai. I am Shiamak Unwalla, and I will be bringing you live updates of today’s play. You can read the highlights of Day One here.

Yesterday, Pakistan fought back brilliantly in the final session to reach 219 for four at Stumps against Australia. Younis Khan and Azhar Ali ensured that Pakistan enjoyed no success for the better part of the post-lunch session, as they clamped down and surged forward. After Tea, it was Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq who led the show. Younis went on to score a tremendous hundred, thereby reaching the distinction of having scored a hundred against all Test-playing nations.

Peter Siddle and Mitchell Johnson started proceedings after lunch, but the pitch had by now slowed down sufficiently well for the batsmen to get their eyes in. Both Younis and Azhar went on to get their half-centuries, and looked set for a lot more before Azhar threw away his hard-earned start by driving a slower ball from Johnson to Alex Doolan at short cover. Misbah-ul-Haq came in at No 5, and started on a positive note, hoisting Nathan Lyon for four down the ground early on in his innings.

Earlier, Pakistan went to lunch at a sub-par 50 for two. Already under pressure after losing the One-Day International (ODI) series, Pakistan were hoping for a positive start. However, that was not to be as the Australian pacers rocked the boat early on.

Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad came out to open the innings for Pakistan. Hafeez took strike against Mitchell Johnson, and the left-arm speedster was soon celebrating. Johnson steamed in, and sent down a thunderbolt that swung late and beat Hafeez all ends up. He was declared out LBW, but decided to call for a review — a decision that seemed absolutely absurd. The replays confirmed that he was plumb in front, and that the review was wasted. However, after that it was the Younis-Azhar-Misbah show till the end of the day.
