It’s all over! Peter Siddle’s resistance is over as Zulfiqar Babar gets him caught by Azhar Ali to help Pakistan complete an emphatic win.
OUT! P Siddle c Azhar Ali b Z Babar 15 (66)

Does not matter, it is OUT! Pakistan win!

Hang on, there is a catch at silly point, but AUSTRALIA have now asked for the review! What drama!

Pakistan lose their second review! That would have clipped the stumps, good decision by Erasmus.

Got ‘im! Awesome work from Sarfraz! Johnson’s back leg was just, just, jusssssssssssssst on the crease, but the little ‘keeper was smart enough to notice that. He hits the stumps with a smart flick of his hand, and Johnson has to go after a long, long while.
OUT! M Johnson st Sarfraz Ahmed b Yasir Shah 61 (127)!

An LBW decision against Johnson has just been reviewed, and has been turned down. It was too high.

Oooooooooh! Yasir is making the ball talk! An edge off Siddle fell just short of first slip, and he was beaten poking at the next one. It seems he is groping a bit for the one that leaves him.
Johnson and Siddle continue to frustrate the Pakistanis. There is still a minimum of 27 overs to be bowled today, though Pakistan’s excellent over rate means that they will probably get to bowl more. Time to summon Yasir, perhaps, though the ball is new…
Tremendous fightback from Australia. Rogers and Smith had led the battle before the former fell, and two more quick wickets in the first session pushed them on the back-foot.
Smith and Johnson then fought back and batted almost through the second session. Though Smith fell after a 175-ball vigil, Mo continues to battle on.
Misbah summons Hafeez, probably because of his success with the new ball, especially against the left-handers, in the shorter formats. Johnson responds by lofting him over mid-off for four. He is certainly not in the mood of giving up.
Fifty to Johnson as he smashes Babar’s overpitched delivery past long-on! It is an innings almost as crucial to Smith’s. He needs to bat for over a session, though, to make this count.
A lot is happening. Johnson slams Babar over wide long-on into the stands and then pulls Babar to mid-wicket boundary. Meanwhile, Siddle avoids the pair, and Misbah claims the new ball. It will be Babar, and rightly so.
Pakistan’s spinners continue to pile up the pressure. Poor Siddle remains on a pair — he needs that run badly. Two overs to go for the new ball. Will Misbah go for it?
SMITH FALLS! Smith’s vigilance comes to an end as Shafiq takes an exceptional reflex catch! The umpires consulted before summoning help of the telly. Replays confirmed that the ball was hit on the bounce! Yasir Shah, you beauty!
OUT! Steve Smith c Asad Shafiq b Yasir Shah 55 (175)!
Misbah summons Imran, but Johnson pulls him hard for four. Seven runs from that over. Five overs left for the new ball. Will Pakistan get a breakthrough before that? With they take the new ball? We will find out.
Yasir and Babar are relentless, as are Smith and Johnson. The odd ball is bothering them, but they are generally in control. Time for a change in strategy? Maybe bring a seamer on, given the fact that they were getting reverse-swing? Having said that, why not give Younis a bowl?
Babar is bowling over the wicket, maybe in pursuit of the one that kicks from the rough. Smith seems supremely unconcerned as Babar switches back, but Smith’s approach does not change. Remember, Pakistan can claim the new ball in seven overs.
Yasir and Babar are doing everything barring getting that crucial wicket. The ball is kicking, turning, bouncing, skidding, finding edges, but Smith seems resolute, and Johnson isn’t doing too poorly either.

Drama here at Dubai! Johnson tried to clear square-leg, but it was only a top-edge. Yasir tried to rush backwards, but the ball soared inches above him!
Meanwhile, Smith smashes Yasir for four to bring up an outstanding fifty.

That was a sitter and Ahmed Shehzad has grassed it. Johnson was set up for that slog sweep and he finally relented and went for it against the turn off Babar’s bowling. The ball flew straight towards Shehzad but he dropped it.

Hafeez is not clearly testing the batsman. Barring one instance of a close leg-before call, the batsmen have looked patient and content defending. The long wait continues. Another 10 overs without a wicket, the pressure could get on to Pakistan.

Mohammad Hafeez has been pressed in to the attack in place of Babar. But he mostly keeps it wide of the batsman than to turn it from close to the stumps. Australia have already dragged this match 35 overs on the fifth day.

Zulfiqar and Rahat are bowling from either ends. The left-arm pacer Rahat is reversing the ball well. Johnson on one occasion flicked the yorker for four.

Rahat Ali begins proceedings post lunch. Quiet over. Not much trouble for the batsman. Just one from the over.

A successful session for Pakistan. After some resistance in the first hour of play, Pakistan have softened them up with three middle-order wickets. Steven Smith is the lone ranger out there with the tail-enders. Read the Lunch Report here

It’s not the spinning bowls that’s troubling but the straighter ones. A harmless delivery and Haddin misses it completely. Mitchell Johnson is the new man in.
OUT! B Haddin b Babar 0(10)

Gone, Pakistan strike with bowling change. Zulfiqar comes back in to the attack. Pitches this in line and Marsh tries to lunge forward. Opens the full face of the bat and the ball lands straight into the hands of Azhar Ali.
OUT! M Marsh c Azhar b Zulfiqar 3(8)

Big wicket for Pakistan. Imran khan steams in and lands this one at a yorker length. Rogers was coming down the track and the ball sneaks through the gate to disturb the stumps. Rogers wanted to work that away on the leg-side. Mitchell Marsh is the new batsman in.
OUT! c Rogers b Imran Khan 43(131)

After Zulfiqar-Yasir combo, now Rahat Ali and Mohammad Hafeez are bowling in tandem. Rahat is getting the ball to reverse and had Rogers in a bit of trouble. But the Aussie duo are going strong. Rogers is into his 40s. Imran Khan to replace Hafeez now. Misbah looking proactive in his bowling changes.

Australian resistance continues. Rogers has played positively and has looked more confident with his footwork against the spinners. A partnership here will keep Pakistan on the edge.

Rogers has shown good technique against spin. Hasn’t looked unsettled except for the one delivery from Yasir Shah which literally turned square. A long fight ahead for the Aussies to save the day.

Zulfiqar Babar starts off the proceedings on Day Five. Bowls to Chris Rogers who manages to play out two deliveries before picking a single. Smith then works away one on the leg to pick couple of runs.

Pakistan are closing on a major victory in the final day of the first Test after they reduced Australia to a score of 59 for the loss of four wickets, after setting them a 437-run target. Chris Rogers and Steve Smith will walk out to bat in the morning on scores of 23 and three respectively. I am Abhijit Banare and I will bring to you the live updates of the match.

Pakistan took a huge step towards victory in the first Test by taking four key Australian wickets after hundreds from Younis Khan and Ahmed Shehzad put them in the driving seat in Dubai on Satuday.

After setting an imposing 438-run target, Pakistan rattled the Australians through a brace of wickets apiece from spinners Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah to leave Australia tottering on 59 for four at stumps on the fourth day, needing six wickets for a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series. Chris Rogers (23) and Steven Smith (three) were at the crease as Australia need another 379 for an unlikely win.

Australia’s best chase to win a Test was way back in 1948 when they made 404 for three against England at Headingley while their best chase against Pakistan was 369 for six at Hobart in 1999.

Australia had raced to 44 for no loss before Babar struck twice in the 14th over, inducing David Warner, who had scored his third successive test century in the first innings, to come out of the crease for a smart stumping when he was on 29 with his first ball and then trapped Alex Doolan leg before with his last.
