(A jubilant Pakistan will look to thrive against a shaken Australia. Catch live cricket scores and live update of the second Test here)

Azhar Ali gets to his 100! What a knock from the youngster! And, bad light has called off play for today. Australia will need to comeback extremely strongly tomorrow in order to have some chance.

Pakistan will now look to conclude their day without losing another wicket. It has been a great day for them. Australia will be glad that it is over, and look to come back afresh the next day. Azhar Ali is on 91, and he may complete his century today itself.

Wow! That’s a hundred for Younis Khan! And it has taken him just 128 balls. He has been an absolute nightmare for the Australian bowlers in this series. Pakistan are in a very comfortable position here, and it is unlikely that they will give away the series from here.

This partnership has quickened and now reached past 150 runs. What a stand this has turned out to be! Younis Khan is nearing his century. A great day at the office once again for him.

Pakistani batsman are losing a little bit of concentration and Australia did get a few chances. However, luck is not on their side, as none of these chances transformed into a wicket.

Michael Clarke seems to be running out of ideas. So much so that he has introduced himself into the attack. The strategy of playing attritional cricket has worked nicely for them. The Australians look tired, and Clarke is using his part timers to give the bowlers some rest.

This partnership has turned out to be a pain for the Australians. Wonderful, wonderful display of determination and concentration. Nothing has gone right for the Australian side. They’ve dropped catches, looked dispirited and haven’t been able to break partnerships.

Younis Khan is about to reach his half-century once again! What a form he is enjoying at the moment. Will he score his third consecutive 100 today? He certainly looks in touch to do the same.

Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh are bowling in tandem for Australia, as Younis and Ali are patiently piling on the runs. This partnership is now worth 32 runs, and has been a useful one.

Both batsman are steadying the ship for Pakistan after Hafeez’s dismissal. Younis has been moving at a brisk pace. Mitchell Marsh comes into bowl his first over of the day, and concedes just one run.  Pakistan’s run rate has dipped below 3 at the moment.

Got him! Mitchell Johnson breaks the deadlock. Pakistan were moving way too slowly. Hafeez has to go, he will miss his half-century. Huge wicket for Australia, that has shifted the momentum back in their favor. Younis Khan who scored consecutive 100s in the first match comes in. And he starts off with a four.
OUT! Hafeez c Haddin b Johnson 45(89)

Pakistan have been just as slow after lunch, as they were before it. Azhar Ali looked in some pain, and called the physio at the ground to give him some treatment. Hafeez is slowly approaching his half century.

That’s Lunch! Pakistan will pat themselves on the back after a determined and resilient performance in the first session. Australia can still hold the trump card in the game if they pick up some wickets in the second session.

The two batsman haven’t looked under pressure, despite Shehzad’s dismissal. Pakistan just happy to tire out the Australian bowlers, and not looking to score very quickly. Not a bad display of attritional cricket from them.

Ahmed Shehzad has been dismissed leg before by Nathan Lyon.  That is a crucial breakthrough for the Australians. Shehzad was looking in great touch, and playing with purpose. However, he has given away his wicket once again.
OUT! A Shehzad lbw Lyon 35(64)
Shehzad hits back-to-back gorgeous boundaries to Strac and gets into the 30s. He has done the bulk of the scoring while Hafeez gets his first boundary in the 17th over. Pakistan bring up their 50 with that shot.

Ahmed Shehzad finally gets one away outside the boundary. First of the morning, and it has come in the 11th over. Australian bowlers are toiling away but are not finding any help from the Abu Dhabi pitch. It’ll be too early to call it, but is the match set for a draw?

Both batsman are staying patient, and just looking to hit ball with a straight bat. Ahmed Shehzad gets hit at the wrong part, and winces. He recovers quickly though, and smiles to Johnson.

Pakistan have made a slow and cautious start to their innings. Michael Clarke experimenting with his bowling changes. Mitchell Starc bowled the second over, while Peter Siddle bowled the fourth over. No boundary yet from the first four overs.

Hello, and welcome to Cricketcountry’s coverage of Day One of the second Test between Pakistan and Australia at Abu Dhabi. I am Sameer Jha, and I will be bringing you the live updates of the match. Pakistan lead the two-Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test at Dubai.

The visitors were handed a comprehensive 221-run defeat against an inexperienced Pakistan bowling attack. The second Test promises to be an exciting affair as Michael Clarke’s men will look to bounce back after the defeat and put up a more determined performance especially against spin.

Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar were the key bowlers for Pakistan in the first Test – picking up 14 of the 20 Australian wickets that fell. Shah, who made his debut in the match, bowled with confidence and skill, and picked up key wickets in both innings. Steven Smith, who is considered a good player of spin, was dismissed by Shah both times. It is important for Pakistan that Shah doesn’t drop his intensity, and maintains his wicket-taking form in the second Test too.

In the batting department, Younis Khan scored consecutive centuries and became the Pakistani with most Test hundreds. His experience and calmness helped guide Pakistan to an imposing first innings total of 454 after being seven for two at one point. Azhar Ali, Misbah ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq chipped in with impressive half-centuries in the first innings, while Sarfraz Ahmed reached his century in quick time as well. Ahmed Shehzad, who failed in the first innings, bounced back in the second innings and his century ensured that Pakistan faced no hiccups in posting Australia a mammoth fourth innings target. Barring Mohammad Hafeez, all of their batsman fired, and for once their batting looks in great touch ahead of the second Test.

For Australia, there are plenty of reasons to worry, but there are some reasons why they can feel hopeful too. The partnership between Mitchell Johnson and Steven Smith on Day 5 of the  first Test was proof that if they bat with concentration and focus, they can certainly post a big total. The way in which Smith batted against spin, there’s no reason to rule out him not coming in at No. 3. David Warner, is in great touch for them, and him coming good at the top of the order will be crucial for the visitors.

On the negative side, their bowling has been below par. Johnson’s three for 29 in the first innings was the only bowling performance of note, and they will need to do much better as a unit in order to succeed in the second Test. The spinners who were supposed to dominated picked only six wickets in the Test conceding 439 runs.
