After five good days of cricket the match has finally ended in a draw. Pakistan lead the series 1-0.

So only six overs are remaining in the day now. Can Pakistan chases the require 72 runs? Highly unlikely. Both the teams have known by that time that the match is heading towards a draw.

Younis departs. He stepped out looking for the big hit.. but does that too early. Craig pushes it wide outside off, get it to turn and bounce. Younis tries to adjust and looks to fend it off, but this gets big on him and flies to first slip off the glove. Will Pakistan now look for a draw?
Younis Khan c Taylor b Craig 44 (84)

The match is still closely equated. Pakistan need a bit more than six per over.

Lets have a look at the top five chases by Pakistan here.

Careful start by Pakistan in the last session of the match. Younis Khan’s wicket will be key and New Zealand go all out to get his wicket. Neesham and Sodhi have started proceedings for the tourists.

Tea day five: Pakistan still need 147 runs in 28 overs. New Zealand hold the edge here. They need six wickets in the last session. It’s not going to be easy with Younus Khan and Shafiq Shafiq keeping everything out. Pakistan were moving along smoothly before they had that mid-innings wobble that had made win a distant objective for now.

Fourth one down. Superb delivery by Trent Boult to get the wicket of Misbah-ul Haq. Reverse swing is doing the magic here.. It comes in with the angle, then straightens to open Misbah up.. Takes the feather to the keeper. Not much Misbah could have done there. This the sixth of his career.
Misbah-ul-Haq c Watling b Boult 0 (5)

OUT, another wicket! Trent Boult gets Shan Masood. Fiery yorker from Boult, that has hit the batsman right in front. He was shuffling across and looking to flick but there was some inswing that is enough to beat the bat. Masood asks for a review. But it looks like a very good shout. Hitting or clipping leg, which would mean he will have to go.
Shan Masood lbw b Boult 40 (95)

The second wicket gone for New Zealand. Azhar Ali got out to a low full toss of Mark Craig. Now Pakistan’s run machine is at the crease. They still need 191 to win. Is this the opening New Zealand are looking for?
Azhar Ali c Neesham b Craig 24 (74)

Its a slow and careful start by Shan Masood and Azhar Ali after lunch. It seems they have decided to play it safely and not to chase the target.

Pakistan are off to a shaky start, losing the wicket of Taufeeq Umar at the start of the innings with just eight runs on the board. New Zealand have an opportunity to capitalise on the early blow if they are to win the match and level the series. Pakistan however, are not new to such situations, and will look to stabilise things from here, with a plenty of batting to come.
And its lunch on the final day of the second Test, with Pakistan reaching a score of 32 for the loss of one wicket after 14 overs, needing another 229 runs with nine wickets and two sessions in hand.
Pakistan lose their first wicket at an early stage of their chase of the 261-run target. Taufeeq Umar is the man dismissed, who nicks it to keeper BJ Watling. Major blow for the home side, as an early dismissal can seriously falter their chances of chasing the modest target.
OUT! Taufeeq Umar c Watling b Southee 4 (6)

Great hitting by Tim Southee. He scored 20 of five balls and gets out. Brendon McCullum also declares the innings. Which is a right decision. Pakistan need 261 in 72 overs. Required rate will be 3.63 but will they go for it?

Out! T Southee c Azhar Ali b Zulfiqar Babar 20 (5)

Yasir Shah to Taylor, OUT! Stumped!. 1st five-for Yasir Shah in Test cricket. Tossed up, pitches on off and zips past the beat the outside edge. Taylor was falling off balance and had stretched too far forward.
Taylor st Sarfraz Ahmed b Yasir Shah 104 (133)

Yasir Shah to Craig, OUT!  he holes at long-on! Craig comes down the pitch and looks to hammer it down the ground but gets it off the toe of the bat. Useful 60-run stand comes to an end .
Out! M Craig c Rahat Ali b Yasir Shah 34 (53)

What an attacking hundred by Ross Taylor! 12th at the Test match level. He now joins John Wright as the second most century maker for New Zealand after Martin Crow. New Zealand lead by 228 runs.

To Upstage a team like Pakistan New Zealand will need to take some gambles. What are those? Read here.

So Misbah has started with Zulfiquar Baba and Rahat Ali. To upstage an inform Pakistan on their own conditions, New Zealand will require couple of things to go in their way — enough runs on the board and enough time to all out the opposition. For this McCullum will need to take some gambles.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the fifth and final day’s play between New Zealand and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Friday. This is Sandipan Banerjee, and I will be bringing you the updates of the match.

According to AFP, Ross Taylor hit a return-to-form half-century to help New Zealand recover after Sarfraz Ahmed hit a fighting hundred for Pakistan. Taylor was 77 not out for his 23rd fifty to help his team recover from a shaky 79-4 to close the fourth day on 167-6, having an overall lead of 177 with four wickets intact.

Mark Craig (nought) was in Taylor’s company as New Zealand will seek a series-levelling win in the three-Test series on an intriguing final day. Pakistan won the first Test by 248 runs in Abu Dhabi last week.

Sarfraz’s 112 led Pakistan’s fightback as they managed 393 in their first innings in reply to New Zealand’s 403, conceding a slender 10-run lead. Pakistani spinners Zulfiqar Babar (3-60) and Yasir Shah (3-65) had jolted New Zealand but Taylor stood firm.

Babar removed Brendon McCullum (45), Kane Williamson (11) and Jimmy Neesham (11) in another display of beguiling left-arm spin on a Dubai stadium pitch which is taking notable turn. Yasir Shah dismissed Tom Latham (nine), Corey Anderson (nought) and BJ Watling (11).
