Greetings! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the first One-Day International (ODI) between Zimbabwe and New Zealand at Harare. Today will be first of three ODIs and an early win will do either team a great deal of good in hopes to win the series. This is Rishad D’Souza and I will bring you live updates of the match as they happen. At first glance, it appears like the Black Caps are clear favourites, but it must be remembered that they are playing a second string side without the services of Brendon McCullum, Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Zimbabwe will bank on that and home advantage to try and defeat the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 finalists. Catch live cricket scores and updates of Zimbabwe vs New Zealand, 1st ODI at Harare here

MATCH REPORT: Craig Ervine ton powers Zimbabwe to triumph against New Zealand in 1st ODI at Harare

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 304/3 | 49 overs | Target 304: BATTING: Craig Ervine 130(108), Sean Williams 7(9): What a fine finish by Zimbabwe! In the past they have thrown away many a good opportunity after setting themselves a platform, but today it was quite the contrary. Masakadza set the base for Zimbabwe and Craig Ervine drove the advantage home for a joyous victory in front of a delighted home crowd.

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 288/3 | 48 overs | Target 304: BATTING: Craig Ervine 117(104), Sean Williams 6(7): What a thrilling contest! Jimmy Neesham to bowl the second last over!

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 194/2 | 35 overs | Target 304: BATTING: Craig Ervine 58(63): Finally New Zealand have made a breakthrough that can get they back in the game and yet again it is Nathan McCullum who does the trick. McCullum’s have the knack of winning games for New Zealand. That being said, New Zealand are still under pressure. If Ervine bats long enough, it could be curtains for Aotearoa. OUT! Hamilton Masakadza 84(99) c Ronchi b N McCullum

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 177/1 | 32 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 75(86), Craig Ervine 51(58): The 100-run partnership is up for Hamilton Masakadza and Craig Ervine. Zimbabwe’s game to lose from here, New Zealand need something special. Even Matt Henry has seemed ineffective today, McClenaghan has not turned up either. New Zealand’s spinner have been ordinary as well. But credit to the Zimbabwean for some really smart cricket.

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 128/1 | 25 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 53(67), Craig Ervine 30(35): The Zimbabweans are very much in control at the moment, they’re going at a appreciable rate and have nine wickets in hand. New Zealand need wickets but how do they obtain those? Kane Williamson has tried all his options but not much has come of it.

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 99/1 | 20 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 45(57), Craig Ervine 10(15): After that wicket of Chamu Chibhabha, things have stabilised for Zimbabwe quite quickly as Hamilton Masakadza and Craig Ervine are continuing the good work, but they must try to retain wickets, given Zimbabwe’s tendency to collapse. Mitchell McClenaghan came back for a second spell but didn’t show much improvement.

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 74/1 | 15 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 31(41), Craig Ervine 0(1): Nathan McCullum has made the important breakthrough for his side and he has clean bowled him. Gave the delivery some flight even though he’d been taken for a few runs, this time Chibhabha failed to connect and paid the price. Welcome wicket for Aotearoa. OUT! Chamu Chibhabha 42(48) b Nathan McCullum

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 43/0 | 10 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 20(28), Chamu Chibhabha 22(32): Things have slowed down a wee bit for Zimbabwe in the segment of last five overs, but that shouldn’t be much of a bother since they’ve survived 10 overs without losing a wicket, which is crucial. Jimmy Neesham has bowled fairly well as first change for Mitchell McClenaghan, but Aotearoa need a wicket.

Live Cricket Score Zimbabwe 31/0 | 5 overs | Target 304: BATTING Hamilton Masakadza 11(14), Chamu Chibhabha 19(22): Zimbabwean openers have started very positively. Masakadza and Chibhabha are looking curiously comfortable against Matt Henry and Mitchell McClenaghan at the moment. McClenaghan hasn’t bowled very well.

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 303/4 | 50 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 112(121), Jimmy Neesham 14 (9): Ross Taylor brings up his century and has been in fine nick in limited overs of late. Jimmy Neesham is just giving the strike to his senior batsman at the other end. In the end New Zealand have gotten themselves to an excellent score.

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 255/4 | 46 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 81(100): Grant Elliott has gotten run out at an inopportune time. He was looking really threatening but lost his wicket in an unfortunate manner. Ross Taylor is still there and he can do the finishing job for New Zealand single-handedly. OUT! Grant Elliott 43(32) run out

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 226/3 | 43 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 70(100), Grant Elliott 25(20): Kane Williamson lost his wicket to Panyangara by chopping on. He’ll be gutted because he was going really well and he could have made a huge impact in the final overs, but Elliott has taken over and he seems to be doing well. Rossco is pushing the accelerator. OUT! Kane Williamson 97(102) b Panyangara

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 175/2 | 36 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 45(79), Kane Williamson 97(101): Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor are absolutely comfortable at the crease now. Williamson is looking the better of the two batsmen at the crease but Taylor is getting increasingly confident with his strokes too. Graeme Cremer has bowled quite well and beat the edge on a couple of occasions but hasn’t done it consistently

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 117/2 | 27 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 29(55), Kane Williamson 55(71): Kane Williamson has realised that New Zealand needed him to step up as captain and he has played beautifully. He started off cautiously but has opened up to play a few glorious shots more recently. Ross Taylor at the other end is yet to get in the groove, but while these two are at the crease it’s a lot of trouble for Zimbabwe.

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 78/2 | 20 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 13(35), Kane Williamson 32(49): Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor have put on a solid partnership after the early wickets of the two openers. The Zimbabwean slower bowlers haven’t put the pressure like the seamers did earlier in the day. Ross Taylor hasn’t looked very assuring yet, but Kane Williamson has started playing some amazing shots.

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 39/2 | 9 overs: BATTING Ross Taylor 0(1), Kane Williamson 8(17): Zimbabwe have struck again and both openers are back in the hut! New Zealand’s reliable duo of Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor are at the crease now and they need to step up and build a strong partnership. Latham looked good while he was there but was going for one shot too many against the new ball, Chibhabha was delighted with the wicket. OUT! Tom Latham 14(19) b Chamu Chibhabha

Live Cricket Score New Zealand (Aotearoa) 20/1 | 4 overs: BATTING Tom Latham 8(6), Kane Williamson 0(1): And Zimbabwe have reaped the early reward for bowling that nagging line outside off at a good length by getting opener Martin Guptill to edge to first slip for just 11 runs. Guptill prodded in front and the ball left the right hander after seaming, which produced the edge where Masakadza took a good catch. Panyangara was the bowler. OUT! Martin Guptill 11(17) c Masakadza b Panyangara

New Zealand have walked out in their special Aotearoa jerseys to commemorate the Maori language week.

TOSS UPDATE: Zimbabwe have won the toss and elected to bowl first

For New Zealand, this tour will be about grooming youngsters to prepare for a bright future when New Zealand’s highly successful senior pros finally call it a day. Jimmy Neesham is back in the side, as is Adam Milne and they will both look to prove themselves. Skipper Kane Williamson will have the services of experienced campaigners such as Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor to fall back on if in need.

Zimbabwe had a far from impressive series against a second string Indian side most recently, where they were whitewashed in the ODIs. They’ll want to bounce back from that and prove a point to the world. Elton Chigumbura will lead the side including names like Craig Ervine, Prosper Utseya and Sean Williams who have done fairly well in the past.

Squads:

Zimbabwe: Elton Chigumbura (c), Regis Chakabva, Chamu Chibhabha, Graeme Cremer, Craig Ervine, Luke Jongwe, Neville Madziva, Hamilton Masakadza, Chris Mpofu, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Vusi Sibanda, Sikandar Raza, Prosper Utseya, Sean Williams

New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Doug Bracewell, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Mitchell McClenaghan, Nathan McCullum, Adam Milne, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi (wk), Ish Sodhi, Ross Taylor, Ben Wheeler, George Worker, Mitchell Santner
