Greetings everyone! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket coverage of the second Test match between Pakistan and England. On Day One at Old Trafford, Manchester. England were off the mark with their proceedings. Captain Alastair Cook and Joe Root registered centuries to put England in the driver’s seat. It was a spectacular comeback after the Lord’s Test defeat at the hands of the visitors. With Root and Chris Woakes remaining unbeaten at 141 and 2 respectively at end of the Day 1, England will look to further increase their grip in the game on Day 2. For Pakistan, the World’s No.1 bowler Yasir Shah conceded 111 runs, and Mohammad Aamer was their performer of the day. The bowlers did struggle, but with still time to go in the Test, it might not take time, for the tides to change in Pakistan’s favor. Stay tuned! LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs England, 2nd Test at Old Trafford

England had what was probably the best day for them in the series far. Alex Hales was out cheap, but the 185-run stand between Cook and Root for 2nd wicket, gave them the window to come back into the series after the loss in the last Test. Cook showed why he is arguably the best Test batsman as of now. He struck 15 fours with his knock of 105. Root on the other hand did not let it slip away even after he reached his hundred. He has already hit 18 fours so far.

All the batsman were bowled apart from James Vince who has clearly been unable to make a mark so far. With a lot of batting still to come, England will be hoping they can reach the 500-run mark. Pakistan on the other hand, bowled bad lines. Their fielding was rather slippery. Wahab Riaz struggled with overstepping no-balls and Yasir Shah, ended up wicketless after the first Day’s play. Aamer and Rahat Ali were the only two, who managed to pick wickets grabbing two apiece.
