West Indies reach the semi-final of the ICC World T20 2014 tournament. They will now take on Sri Lanka on Thursday. Read Nishad Pai Vaidya’s match report here.

It’s all over! Umar Gul is caught in the deep as West Indies register an 84-run win — their biggest ever by runs in the Twenty20 Internationals. With this win, the West Indies set up a semi-final clash with Sri Lanka on Thursday.
OUT! U Gul c Simmons b Santokie 4(7)

It is ending quickly for Pakistan here. Saeed Ajmal walks across the stumps to hit towards fine-leg, but misses to connect completely. Russell hits the middle stump and Pakistan are now nine down.
OUT! S Ajmal b Russell 1(3)

Another one bites the dust as Sohail Tanvir is out after a nice little cameo. Sammy takes a clean tumbling catch at deep midwicket off Narine. Umar Gul is the new man in. But further trouble for Pakistan as Afridi is stumped for 18 off 12 balls. West Indies all set to qualify for the semi-final with Sri Lanka.
OUT! S Tanvir c Sammy b Narine 14(12), S Afridi st Ramdin b Narine

Shahid Afridi hits the longest six of the tournament — 95 meters — off Dwayne Smith. Pakistan need 93 runs to win from the last 30 balls.

A close call for Afridi as a mishit falls short of the fielder at long-on. Pakistan add six runs to their total in Narine’s over. The required run rate is over 18 now.

Pakistan cross the 50-run mark in the 13th over of the innings. Shahid Afridi gets a gift from Samuels — a short ball that was dispatched into the stands for a six. Pakistan need 110 to win from seven overs.

It’s getting tougher for Pakistan now as Maqsood has fallen to Narine. The Pakistan batsmen had no idea about the ball’s turn, as he had danced down the track to hit it a long way. Sohail Tanvir starts off with a superb hit for six.
OUT! S Maqsood st Ramdin b Narine 18(22)

Mohammad Hafeez’s painful stay at the crease is over, as he mistimes a shot off Russell to be caught by Chris Gayle at extra cover. Maqsood is hit on the right on a nasty bouncer by Russell as West Indies are stamping their authority here. Pakistan need 125 to win from nine overs.
OUT! M Hafeez c Gayle b Russell 19(32)

Sunil Narine comes onto bowl and is right on the money. He troubles Maqsood who keeps going for his shots but fails to connect, and even mistimes. Pakistan yet to cross 50-run mark after 10 overs. Pakistan need 132 runs to win from the remaining 60 balls.

Andre Russel comes onto bowl as West Indies continue to save Sunil Narine’s four overs. Only four runs scored in that over. Pakistan now need 135 runs to win from 11 overs. The required run rate is well past 12 now.

Sohaib Maqsood is looking to counter it with some quick runs. Pakistan not only need a big partnership but they also need quick runs. Five runs added from Badree’s final over. Excellent spell by the spinner who ends with 4-0-10-3.

Sohaib Maqsood gets hold of one as he dispatches the ball into the stands for a massive six off Marlon Samuels. Pakistan need 144 more runs to win from 78 balls.

Pakistan in shambles here. Shoaib Malik comes down the track to hit Badree but is stumped. Pakistan need another 154 runs to win from 14 overs at a required run rate of 11.
OUT! S Malik st Ramdin b Badree 2(6)

Marlon Samuels comes into the attack as the West Indies are looking to attack with spin. The slow bowlers have had a big say in this match and West Indies are yet to bring in Sunil Narine. Only two runs scored in that over.

Samuel Badree strikes again! Umar Akmal is stumped off the final ball of the over and Pakistan are in tatters now. They have lost three wickets and are yet to get the team total in double figures. Pakistan need another 158 runs from 16 overs with a required run rate touching 10.
OUT! U Akmal st Ramdin b Badree 1(4)

Krishmar Santokie sends down another fine over as Pakistan batsmen are finding it tough to get going now. Umar Akmal and Hafeez scramble to add six runs in the over.

Another wicket! Kamran Akmal is caught by Dwayne Bravo at mid-off, as Samuel Badree makes a mark in the first over itself.
OUT! K Akmal c Bravo b Badree 0(3)

BIG WICKET!!! Ahmed Shehzad is trapped leg before off the first ball. Krishmar Santokie sends down an inswinger that hits on the batsman’s shoes. Brilliant start for the West Indies, they certainly have the momentum on their side now.
OUT! A Shehzad lbw b Santokie 0(1)

The West Indies were 95 for five after 16 overs. They are 166 for six after 20. In four overs, precisely in 24 balls, they have added 71 runs. In the last five overs they have added 82 runs. What a performance by Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo. Read Nishad Pai Vaidya’s innings report here.

Dwayne Bravo is run out but Sammy makes up for it. The Windies captain smashes a boundary and a six to help his side add another 14 runs to their total. Excellent effort from the defending champs in the last three overs.
OUT! D Bravo run out 46(26)

Dwayne Bravo is on fire! This time it is the ace spinner Ajmal who is on the receiving end. Bravo hits two sixes on the second and the third ball. Sammy joins in too, hits a mammoth six on the fifth and ends the over off the final balls. Ajmal is severely punished as 24 runs are scored off his final over.

Finally! Dwayne Bravo gets going as he smashes two massive sixes off Umar Gul on the first two balls. Bravo continues to attack as the fourth ball is hit for a boundary over point fielder. Excellent over for the Windies as 21 runs come off it.

The West Indies go past the 100-run mark in the 17th over of the innings. It’s been a struggle for the defending champions. A boundary off the first and the last ball off Ajmal helps Windies add 12 runs.

A boundary after a very, very long time. Bravo makes room to smash Zulfiqar over the covers on the first ball. Sammy too gets into the groove with a four over the midwicket area. 11 runs scored in that over.

Six overs left in the innings and Ajmal, who has three more overs to go, comes into the attack. Indeed, smart thinking from Pakistan. The West Indies desperately need some momentum. Three runs scored in that over.

Zulfiqar gets a wicket as Denesh Ramdin, in a bid to score quickly, goes for a big hit but is caught in deep midwicket. Umar Akmal takes a fine catch to send Ramdin back in the hut. Darren Sammy walks in.
OUT! D Ramdin c Umar Akmal b Zulfiqar 5(10)

Shahid Afridi finishes off his spell. His figures after the end of the quota are 4-0-23-1. Pakistan miss a run out chance as Umar Gul aims directly at the non-strikers end. Afridi wasn’t covering and the ball goes past the wickets.

Zulfiqar returns as West Indies batsmen scramble to add another five runs to their total. Denesh Ramdin and Dwayne Bravo have a huge task in their hands.

Double breakthroughs for Pakistan! Afridi appeals for a leg-before against Simmons, and the batsmen meanwhile go for a run. A direct hit means Simmons is back in the hut. Afridi continues as he appeals for a leg-before against Samuels, and the batsman slams a six on the next ball. Afridi has the final laugh as he cleans up the middle order mainstay.
OUT! L Simmons run-out 31(29), M Samuels b Afridi 20(18)

Pakistan’s ace spinner Saeed Ajmal and creates all sorts of troubles for the two Caribbean batsmen. Simmons tries reverse sweep couple of times and also a cut shot, but could manage only three runs.

Shahid Afridi continues and Simmons hits a scoop shot that goes over the fielder at short fine leg. Seven runs added by the two batsmen.
Pakistan have done well by not allowing the West Indians to get away. Umar Gul comes into the attack now and keeps it tight, but only till the fourth ball. Simmons connects the fifth as the ball sails over the ropes for a six. Eight runs scored in that over. West Indies cross the 50-run mark.

Shahid Afridi comes into the attack and sends down an impressive over. The West Indies batsmen struggle to score freely as only four runs are scored off it. The West Indies have not been able to attain any momentum so far, and they would aim to shrug off the slow start.

Sohail Tanvir continues as he produces an edge off Marlon Samuels’s bat, which falls short of the second slip. The batsman takes his revenge as he smashes one boundary through covers on the fourth ball. Seven runs scored in that over.

Simmons is looking in an aggressive mood as he smashes one boundary and a six off Zulfiqar Babar in the fifth over of the innings. The West Indies need a couple of more good overs like this.
Another wicket as Sohail Tanvir gets Dwayne Smith caught behind by Kamran Akmal. Only one run scored in that over. It’s been a good and positive start by Pakistan.
OUT! D Smith c Kamran b S Tanvir 8(13)

BIG WICKET!!! Chris Gayle is stumped as Pakistan are jubilant. Hafeez pitches the ball outside the off stump and it beats the left-hander, who had leaned forward to play it. Gayle is stumped as Kamran Akmal does a fine job. How big a blow this will be for the Windies? Meanwhile, Lendl Simmons starts with a boundary and Smith too gets one. 11 runs scored.
OUT! C Gayle st Kamran b Hafeez 5(4)

Sohail Tanvir comes on from the other end and the second ball of the over is hit for a boundary towards deep fine leg by Chris Gayle. The fielder was inside the circle. Dwayne Smith is beaten thrice outside the off-stump. Six runs scored in the second over.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez starts the proceedings in this virtual quarter-final. Dwayne Smith thrashes the third ball of the over over long-on for a four.
