And Sri Lanka miss another run-out!
Kulasekara to bowl the last over. Just four runs needed. Boom Boom Afridi on strike.
Fawad Alam falls! He hits one high into the air and straight into the hands of Priyanjan. Is there another twist in the match here?

Boundaries are coming in a flurry for Pakistan! Sri Lanka in trouble now. The visitors were reeling at 109 for 5 at one point, but this is a recovery that Pakistani fans will remember for a long time. If both of these batsman cross the line, that is.
Half-century for Fawad Alam! What an innings this has been!
Pakistan need another 44 runs from 30 balls. What a partnership. These two can take Pakistan over the line.

Sri Lanka 139/5 | Overs 29 | Fawad Alam 16 (29) , Sohaib Maqsood 22 (20)
The required run rate have crawled up to 8.36. Sri Lanka will not be minding the singles that these two batsmen are dealing with. Perrera and Malinga are bowling really well. They are not giving any room to score.
Pakistan are in serious trouble now with half the side back in the pavilion. Fawad Alam and Sohaib Maqsood are the only recognised pair for them. They need to come with something miraculous. The required run rate is now 7.90. Pakistan still need 158 runs from 20 overs.
Captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been forced to come out to the crease. This is good stuff from Sri Lanka. Umar Akmal threw his wicket away. Malinga took a good catch at mid on.
Out! Umar Akmal 15 (12), CAUGHT!
Pakistan 67/2 | Overs 14 | Ahmed Shehzad 35 (47), Umar Akmal 8 (7)

Pakistan have made a confident start to their chase with opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad hitting couple of clean boundaries. Pakistan will need to keep up with the scoring rate, as the required run rate at the moment is above six runs an over at the moment.
Pakistan 8/0 | Overs 2 | Mohammad Hafeez 3 (5), Ahmed Shehzad 5 (7)
Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara have started the proceedings for Sri Lanka. Both of them are getting good movements off the pitch. The breeze is helping them as well. Pakistan have made a cautious start.
The second innings is on it’s way. I hope you people have grabbed on to your burgers and soft drinks!
Ashan Priyanjan has played a superb knock for his side. In just 15 balls, he has smashed 39 runs to propel Sri Lanka to a huge total. It will be a tough challenge for the Pakistanis giving their batting form in the recent matches. Stay tuned for Pakistan’s reply in about 20 minutes.
Priyanjan continues to score runs freely as he smashes the left-handed Pakistan pacer for two boundaries in the over after Mathews’s dismissal. Sri Lanka are now past 250-mark, which is good keeping in mind their struggles earlier.
Sri Lanka 247/7 | Overs 43.1 | Ashan Priyanjan 14 (7) OUT! Angelo Mathews b Riaz 89 (85)
Aw snap! No century for Mathews who is cleaned up by Wahab Riaz. The ball was pitched in line of the wickets and the batsmen looked to smash it on the leg side. Shame that he once again misses out on scoring his maiden ODI ton.
Excellent over for Sri Lanka as Ashan Priyanjan is getting in to the groove. The Sri Lankan batsmen smashes three fours off Junaid as Sri Lanka have now added as many as 70 runs from last seven overs.
Impressive by Wahab Riaz as he does not allow the Sri Lankan batsmen to score runs off him in the remainder of the over. Only two runs added with one wicket that fell.

Mathews looks angry now. Fours and sixes all around the ground. He has already scored 78 runs from 77 balls. Even Thisara Perrera joins the party. Oh poor Afridi was whacked for 17 runs in a n over. Dear O dear!
Mathews is trying to take on the bowling attack. He’s playing a captain’s innings out here in Hambantota. Even the rain Gods are making way for these two batsmen. What a show here! We are up for some enthralling finish now to the first innings.
This is tremendous batting from both the batsmen! Hafeez concedes his first boundary of Mathews. This is looking ominous for Pakistan as these two can really take on the attack in the batting powerplay and in the slog overs.
150 up for Sri Lanka in 32 Overs!
Oh no! It is drizzling again but we want the match to continue!
All were looking good for Pakistan until Mathews and Jayawardene came into the crease. They have not only steadied the innings but kept the scoreboard ticking.

This match is getting more and more interesting. Sri Lankans are playing risky shots all around the ground. Irfan continues to impress! Pakistan have been superb on the field from the very start. But somehow Sri Lanka maintaining a run rate of of over 4.6.
Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews will look to steady the ship. These two can cause some serious trouble at a later stage if they settle down. Fro the time being the Pakistani bowlers are not giving away anything. Irfan is causing all sorts of trouble for the Sri Lankans. They will have to do a lot of re-thinking.
Things are not looking good for Sri Lanka. They lost Sangakkara and Tharanga in quick succession. It has been a consistent bowling performance from Pakistan. Hafeez will be serving Misbah as his 5th bowler in the absence of Saeed Ajmal. And with no one’s surprise he picked up the wicket of the dangerous looking Kumar Sangakkara who played a loose shot to get out in the backward point region.
There’s a strong breeze across the ground. The clouds can appear at any moment. But for now it’s sunny. Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez have been introduced into the attack. Mohammad Irfan could not get anything out of the pitch. Misbah-ul-Haq had to try something different. On the other hand, Sangakkara is scoring at a brisk rate. Sri Lanka’s run rate have improved significantly as well. Pakistan is surely missing their spinning maestro Saeed Ajmal.
Sangakkara looking to up the tempo as he is aware that the rain might stop the game again. The powerplay overs are completed due to revised game conditions. Junaid Khan is bowling brilliantly as he is getting some movements both ways.
Fawad Alam – what a try! Unfortunately the ball pops out of the hand!
Mohammad Irfan continues with the proceedings for Pakistan. Tharanga and Sangakkara will look to score some runs now. But the Pakistani bowlers are giving nothing away. Sangakkara is stuck on a soliatary run for over 2 overs now. The Sri Lankan fans are cheering out loud!

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the 1st ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This is Rajarshi Majumdar and I will be bringing you the updates of the match. Pakistan and Sri Lanka begin a three-match one-day series on Saturday hoping to gauge each other’s firepower and bench strength ahead of the World Cup just six months away. The two former world champions have been drawn in different halves for one-day cricket’s showpiece that is to be played in Australia and New Zealand in February and March, AFP reported.
Pakistan, the 1992 champions, will look to bounce back after an embarrassing 2-0 whitewash for Misbah-ul Haq’s tourists in the short Test series that concluded on Monday.
Sri Lanka, who won the World Cup four years later in 1996, hope to build on a successful run by Angelo Mathews’ team in limited-overs cricket this year when they won the one-day Asia Cup and the World Twenty20.
