The rain has stopped and play resumes. Senanayake comes forward and hits one over mid-off for a four. Seven runs come from the over.
Morne to bowl his 10th and final over. Sachitra Senanayake hits the first delivery towards third-man and takes a single to get off the mark. Then the rain comes down heavily and play has been stopped for now.
McLaren to bowl. His first delivery is full and wide outside off-stump and called a wide. McLaren bowls a good length delivery that moves away after pitching. Mathews does not move his feet and edges the ball behind to de Kock. He has to depart for 34 off 38 deliveries. Nuwan Kulasekara tries to hoick a length delivery and top-edges the ball high in the air. AB de Villiers takes a simple catch at short extra-cover. Tahir to bowl his 10th and final over. He gives away five runs in the over. He finishes with figures of 10-1-41-2.
McLaren continues. he bowls a short delivery and Priyanjan pulls the ball towards wide long-on for two runs. McLaren then bowls a wide length delivery and Priyanjan goes for the cut. He gets a thick inside-edge and the ball goes in-between the wicketkeeper and wide first slip.
Tahir comes in. He bowls a googly and Jayawardene plays the wrong line and misses with his drive. Jayawardene gets bowled for 48 off 70 deliveries. The whole stadium is stunned, but not Tahir. Ashan Priyanjan is the next batsman in. His first delivery is guided towards third-man for three runs.

Duminy is back into the attack. The first delivery is swept by Jayawardene towards deep backward square-leg for two runs. Jayawardene then reverse-sweeps one from leg-stump in front of point for a four. Brilliant shot from Jayawardene. Mathews gets a single off the last delivery towards cover.
Philander bowls a short and wide delivery and Mathews swings his bat and gets a four towards deep backward-point. That also gets Sri Lanka their 200. The 50-run stand between Jayawardene and Mathews also comes in this over. It has come off 57 deliveries. Philander bowls a bouncer and the ball goes over Jayawardene. It is called a wide.
Tahir comes back into the attack. The first four deliveries of the over result in four singles. Jayawardene is involved in a mix-up on the fourth delivery, but manages to get back into his crease. Jayawardene takes a single on the fifth delivery. The sixth delivery is a dot ball.
McLaren continues. He digs one in short and that rises way above Jayawardene. It is called a wide for height. McLaren ends up bowling a very good over as only four runs come from it.

Morne to bowl. Mathews gets a single towards square-leg. Morne Morkel shows some very poor judgement at the bowler’s end and lets a run out chance go begging. Jayawardene could have been out, but he gets three runs towards deep mid-wicket.
Duminy comes in for Tahir. Jayawardene pushes one towards mid-wicket for a single. Dilshan then turns one towards square-leg for a single. Jayawardene then sweeps one behind square on the leg side and gets another single. Duminy bowls one down the leg side from round the wicket. Dilshan inside-edges a sweep and the ball strikes the stumps. Dilshan is bowled and has to depart for 86. Very unlucky the way he was dismissed. Dilshan cannot believe it at first. Tahir bowls a full delivery and Dilshan hits the ball towards long-off for a single. Jayawardene then cuts a wide delivery and gets a single behind point. Tahir then bowls a leg-spinner bouncing on off-stump. Jayawardene sweeps towards deep mid-wicket for two runs.
Morne comes back into the attack. he bowls a back of a length delivery and Jayawardene pushes towards mid-wicket and gets a single.
Tahir to bowl. He bowls a full and straight delivery and Jayawardene goes for the sweep. The ball hits the pads and the South African players appeal. The umpire raises his finger, but Jayawardene asks for the DRS review immediately. It takes a while for the third umpire to make up his mind, but in the end he overturns the decision. Replays showed an inside edge before the ball struck the pads.
Duminy continues. Dilshan and Jayawardene get singles off the first two deliveries in the over. Dilshan then knocks one towards mid-on and gets another single.
Tahir comes in. Finally the two spinners are bowling in tandem. It is very good over as it is a maiden to Jayawardene.
Duminy comes back into the attack. The batsmen exchange four singles in the over.
Tahir bowls a short delivery and Thirimanne pulls towards deep backward square-leg. He does not get enough height and distance on the shot and Amla takes the catch in the deep. Tahir replaces fellow spinner Duminy. So, the duo have still not bowled in tandem till now. Four runs come from the over. Dilshan and Thirimanne have added 50 runs for the third wicket now.
Philander comes back into the attack. The batsmen exchange two singles in the over. Though Sri Lanka have been going slowly for a while, they are in a very good position for the match.
Duminy continues. Thirimanne hits one back past the bowler and gets a single. Duminy then drifts one on the pads and Dilshan knock it towards mid-wicket and gets a single. Thirimanne then cuts a wide delivery towards deep point and gets a single.
Morkel comes from round the wicket. he bowls a short delivery and Thirimanne plays a hook and gets a four towards fine-leg. Finally a boundary after 3.4 overs. That also gets Sri Lanka past 100 runs in the innings.
Duminy tosses one and Dilshan comes down the track and hits one towards wide long-on for two runs. Dilshan gets another two runs towards the same region.
Morkel replaces McLaren. He gives away three runs in the over.
Duminy comes back into the attack. Thirimanne gets two runs towards deep mid-wicket. Thirimanne hits another delivery towards the same region and gets one run. Drinks have been taken for the first time in the match.

There is news that Dale Steyn will have to go for an X-Ray on his hand for precautionary measures. Imran Tahir has been brought into the attack. Thirimanne pulls a length delivery and gets two runs towards deep backward square-leg.

Philander bowls a full delivery and Sangakkara hits the ball towards mid-on for a four. Dilshan then flicks a straight delivery towards deep square-leg for two runs.
Steyn bowls a good length delivery outside off-stump. Dilshan plays a drive towards long-off and gets a four. The next delivery is struck back, but Steyn is not able to take the catch. Hello and warm welcome to our live updates of the second One-Day International (ODI) between Sri Lanka and South Africa at Pallekele. I am Shrikant Shankar, and I will be taking you to through the updates for the entire match.
After winning the first One-Day International (ODI), South Africa will be feeling very good about clinching their maiden bilateral ODI series in Sri Lanka. Hashim Amla‘s terrific ton and AB de Villiers fluent half-century ensured that the Proteas were in control for much of the match. Kumar Sangakkara battled hard, but his effort was not enough to pull off a victory.
Sri Lanka have yet to lose a tournament in 2014, but they are in serious danger of that in this match. They will be eager to give another good account of themselves by defeating the visitors. Lasith Malinga and TM Dilshan are the highet wicket taker and run scorer respectively at Pallekele, and will be pleased to return to the ground. South Africa may be ahead, but it would be foolish to write the hosts off.
