First ball from Bhuvneshwar got a single. Faulkner then finishes off the match with two boundaries. The second ball was driven through covers four and the next one was hit between point and cover for four to finish things off.

Dale Steyn bowls his last over. The first ball whipped by Bhatia past the midwicket for four. He tries to go for another big one on the third ball and hits straight to Aaron Finch at long-on and the fielder takes a neat low catch. Binny moves back and cuts Steyn on the fourth ball for a boundary. Single on the last ball. Eight needed in the last over.
OUT! Bhatia 4(3)

Rahane conceded his wicket and Rajasthan might just plot their downfall here. After struggling for a while Hodge tries to slog sweep Amit Mishra and holes it straight to Darren Sammy at deep midwicket. Binny then swept Mishra fine and picked a boundary. What seemed like a comfortable chase towards the end, is now wide open. Binny steals a couple on the last ball. 17 needed in 12 balls.
OUT! B Hodge 1(8)

Just two from that Karn Sharma over. Brad Hodge is the new batsman in. 24 needed in 18 balls.

Finally a wicket for Sunrisers, but it might have come a bit late. Rahane comes down the track and lofts Mishra but didn’t get enough bat on it and Aaron Finch takes a regulation catch. He has done his job but would have been better to see them till the end. A window of opportunity for Hyderabad now.
OUT! Rahane 59(53)

Steyn comes back and the first ball found the outside edge of Rahane and flew for a boundary. The next ball, Rahane drove with authority past mid-off for four. Five from rest of the four deliveries. 13 runs from the over. Rajasthan need 32 from 30 balls.

They were once again trying to milk Ishant for singles. Binny gets a couple on the fifth ball and the right-hander picks a boundary on the last ball.

After settling in, both these batsmen are milking for singles. Six runs from the over by Karn Sharma. 53 runs needed in 42 balls.

New helmet for Rahane after the third ball. Rajasthan look well in control now unless Hyderabad strike.

First ball from Mishra was swept by Rahane for four. Rahane has done his job to perfection. He has anchored the innings and with Binny playing the aggressor. Mishra is getting some turn but no damage done.

There comes the first big shot of the innings. Sammy pitches a touch short and Binny pulls it. Gets the elevation, was in the air for a long time lands on the boundary ropes. Pulls the last ball again and gets a four. Need 73 runs in 60 balls.

Amit Mishra begins the bowling after the strategic time out. Some aggressive intent from the batsman but Mishra is too god for him.

Darren Sammy in to the attack. Three singles on the first three balls and a couple on the fourth. Wide on the last ball and a single later. Rahane has to steer this chase. Need 91 runs in 12 overs.

Brilliant delivery from Ishant. Pitches at a good length and beats Watson. Takes a thick edge on its way to the keeper. The players were celebrating but Billy Bowden’s fingers weren’t up. Ishant appeals persistently and he finally signals it out. Rahane on the last ball gets a boundary to release some pressure. Stuart Binny is the new batsman in.
OUT! Watson 3(7)

Excellent over from Bhuvneshwar, great wrist position and beats Watson. Only two from it.

Ishant Sharma comes in to bowl. As expected, the skipper preserving the two overs. Rahane went after Ishant and cleared mid-on to secure a boundary.

Gone. Samson concedes his wicket. Bhuvneshwar was bowling at a good line and Samson went after a delivery pitched short of good length. Got the toe end of the bat and was caught comfortably by Dhawan at mid-off. Skipper Shane Watson has come in to bat and almost chopped on to his stumps. Typical ball from Bhuvi that cuts back in to the right-hander. Rahane on the last ball was almost dismissed by a peach of a delivery that found his outside edge but neither the keeper nor the first slip could hold on to it.
OUT! Samson 3(9)

Steyn beats Samson on the first ball with a beautiful delivery moving away from the right-hander. Picks a single on the next ball. Some good fielding from Sunrisers has helped them build the pressure. Three from that over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starts from the other end. The second ball was a loosener on the leg and Rahane won’t miss it. Flicks it past midwicket for a four. The second ball swung away from him wide outside off. Beats him on the fifth ball with the delivery seaming away. A couple on the last ball for Rahane.

Kings Steyn strikes. Abhishek Nayar started the innings with a neatly timed cover drive for four. But the third ball was pitched in line and came back in. Nayar standing well outside leg stump, took a stride and was hit on the pads. A late appeal from the bowler and the umpire raised his finger.
OUT! A Nayar 4(3)

Richardson has been among thick of things today. The right-arm pacer gets Karn Sharma caught by Brad Hodge as Rajasthan get the sixth wicket. Rajasthan have been impressive in the first half of the game.
OUT! K Sharma c Hodge b Richardson 4(5)

James Faulkner is hit for a boundary by Vennugopal Rao on the first ball of the over. 10 runs scored off that over.

Another wicket! Darren Sammy hits one high in the air off Kane Richardson, and Rajasthan wicketkeeper Sanju Samson takes a clean catch to send back the dangerous batsman. Venugopal Rao walks into to bat.
OUT! D Sammy c Samson b Richardson 6(11)

Lokesh Rahul departs after hitting as six as another Sunrisers batsman bites the dust. Kulkarni strikes as Rajasthan continue to make inroads.  Only nine runs scored off in that over.
OUT! KL Rahul c Rahane b Kulkarni 20(18)

Lokesh Rahul gets a boundary as Sunrisers batsmen manage only eight runs in that over. They haven’t yet crossed the 100-run mark. Sunrisers have struggled so far in their innings as apart from the partnership between David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan.

Only five runs are scored off Pravin Tambe as he finishes off his spell of four overs, giving away 23 runs. Five runs were scored off in the final over of the off-spinner.

Rajat Bhatia strikes on the second ball again, this time it is David Warner who is out after 32 off 35 balls. Rajasthan have been impressive as they have not allowed the Sunrisers to get away here in this match.
OUT! D Warner c Richardson b Bhatia 32 (35)

Pravin Tambe continues as Warner gets a lifeline in the third ball of the match. Sunrisers have lost a bit of momentum after the fall of Dhawan. Sunrisers in desperate need of couple of good overs.

There’s the breakthrough as Shikhar Dhawan departs after a solid 75-run stand with Warner. Dhawan is caught at deep midwicket as Bhatia strikes for the first time in the match.
OUT! S Dhawan c Richardson b Bhatia 38(34)

Kulkarni comes on to bowl his third over of the match. Sunrisers batsmen scramble to add another six runs to their total.

Rajas than Royals give the ball to Stuart Binny after the break. Dhawan gets a boundary on the penultimate ball. Sunrisers would now look to score a lot quickly as they would be aiming a score above 150 on this high-scoring pitch.

Tambe is hit for a six on the third ball of the over as Sunrisers look to pick up after the sluggish middle overs. 12 runs were scored off Tambe’s second over of the match.

Rajat Bhatia is introduced into the attack and gives away only six runs in the over. Sunrisers have somewhat lost the momentum now.
Seasoned Rajasthan Royals bowler Pravin Tambe comes on to bowl, and is impressive in the first over. Sunrisers batsmen add only three runs in that over.

Sunrisers 41/1 Overs 6

Faulkner spills a return catch as Rajasthan miss a chance to make the second breakthrough in the match. Dhawan, who was given the lifeline, makes most of the chance as he slams a four later on.

David Warner gets going as he hits a boundary off Richardson on the first ball of the over. Warner and Dhawan then scramble for a couple of runs to make it nine from the over.

Kulkarni continues as the Sunrisers batsmen fail to keep the momentum going. Dhawan gets a boundary on the last ball wide of the third slip.

James Faulkner comes on to bowl the third over of the innings. Sends down one very wide down the leg, as it races away for five. Good over for the Sunrisers as they garner 13 runs from the over.

Only two runs scored off Kane Richardson, who maintains tight line and length to keep the Sunrisers batsmen in control. Dhawan and Warner will now have to lead their side’s revival and also give them some momentum.

Dhawal Kulkarni starts the proceedings for the Rajasthan Royals with the ball. Gets Aaron Finch caught in the covers on the fifth ball of the opening over of the game. Australian cricketer Kane Richardson takes a simple catch.
OUT! A Finch c Richardson b Kulkarni 2(5)

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi on Friday. This is Devarchit Varma and I will be bringing you the over by over updates of the clash here.

One of the worst hit teams in last year’s spot-fixing scandal, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be keen to clear their off-field image with good on-field performances when they begin their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign by taking on a formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), PTI reported.

The Royals were left feeling betrayed when errant Indian pacer S Sreesanth and two other teammates — Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — were arrested for allegedly indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches last season. But they hardly let that hamper their performance on the field.

Ironically, RR ended up being the third best team in the last year’s cash-rich event. Led by veteran Rahul Dravid, they dominated the sixth edition, despite lack of big names in their ranks.

Squads:

Rajasthan Royals: Shane Watson (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Brad Hodge, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny, Ankush Bains, James Faulkner, Pravin Tambe, Kevon Cooper, Unmukt Chand, Steven Smith, Ben Cutting, Deepak Hooda, Iqbal Abdullah, Karun Nair, Vikramjeet Malik, Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Kane Richardson, Dishant Yagnik (wk), Tim Southee, Rahul Tewatia, Ankit Sharma, Amit Mishra.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Shikhar Dhawan (c), David Warner, Aaron Finch, Irfan Pathan, Srikkanth Anirudha, Darren Sammy, Naman Ojha (wk), Parvez Rasool, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Karn Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Ricky Bhui, Amit Paunikar, Moises Henriques, Ashish Reddy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jason Holder, Chama Milind, Manpreet Juneja, KL Rahul, Brendan Taylor, Prasanth Parmeswaran, Venugopal Rao, KL Rahul.
