Heavy Rain forces play to be called off on Day 2. West Indies were looking set to wipe out the deficit before heavy showers killed any hopes of play resuming in Barbados. There will be an early start on Day 3 tomorrow. Till then its Bye from CricketCountry.
It has started raining now in Barbados. And it is getting heavier. The ground has been covered up. Kirk Edwards was looking very good. He will be irritated by the rain break. We will soon get back with the latest updates.
That is lunch on Day Two. West Indies have batted very well and were led by Brathwaite. But now, even Edwards is looking in good touch and he would want to carry that form forward when they return after lunch.
Big wicket! Kraigg Brathwaite departs after a brisk 68 as New Zealand make the second breakthrough. Neil Wagner gets the West Indian batsman caught by Tim Southee at short cover as the West Indies lose their second wicket. Along with Kirk Edwards, Brathwaite added 74 runs for the second wicket. West Indies trail by 137 runs.

The West Indies have picked up after Gayle’s dismissal. Kraigg Brathwaite is making most of his good form as he has completed his half-century, and his partner Kirk Edwards has started off well with a four and a six. Windies trail by 180 runs.
Chris Gayle is OUT! The left-handed batsman tries to clear the ropes but ends up hitting it high in the air off Mark Craig. The ball does not travel much, and Hamish Rutherford takes a simple catch at long-on.
OUT! C Gayle c Rutherford b Craig 42(53)
West Indies have begun positively on the second day. Chris Gayle needs another big score to keep his confidence high, and he will be feeling a lot better with Kraigg Brathwaite batting at the other end. On the other hand, the Kiwis need some inspiration to break this opening stand in order to put West Indies in some kind of trouble. Gayle has taken the onus as he has scored all runs since morning, which also included consecutive fours off Tim Southee in the 14th over.
Hello and welcome to the live updates of the second day’s play of the third and final Test between West Indies and New Zealand at Barbados. West Indies ended the first day on top, after dismissing the visitors for 293. Sulieman Benn and Kemar Roach were the destroyers-in-chief for the home team, with five and four wickets respectively.
West Indies ended then first day’s play 261 runs adrift of New Zealand’s 293. Openers Chris Gayle and Kraigg Brathwaite got them off to a good start towards the final overs. Sulieman Benn‘s five wicket wicket haul and Kemar Roach ran through the top order of New Zealand to give West Indies the slight advantage at the tail end of Day One. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat on a sporting wicket in Barbados and the Kiwis were in a hot pursuit for quick runs. Runs came at around four and half runs per over and even though there were plenty of good starts from Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor early on , they couldn’t build on it in the post lunch session.
