South Africa batsman AB de Villiers on Friday completed his 1,000 runs in Twenty20 Internationals, during the ICC World T20 2014 semi-final against India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. De Villiers achieved the feat in the 15th over of the game with a double off Amit Mishra.

De Villiers is the 16th batsman and the second South African to achieve the feat in Twenty20 Internationals. The left-handed JP Duminy is the first South African batsman to cross the 100-run mark. Graeme Smith, the former skipper scored as many as 982 runs in 33 matches at an average of 31.67.

De Villiers, before the match against India had 997 runs in 56 matches at an average of 22.65. He has five half-centuries to his credit in T20Is. The right-handed batsman has a highest of 79 against Scotland at The Oval in June 2009.

The list of top-scorers is led by New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who is the first batsman in the history to score more than 2,000 runs in the shortest version of the game.
