Adam Voges surpassed Sir Donald Bradman’s Test average of 99.94 when he brought up 1,200 Test runs at an unbelievable average of 100 during the Day-Two of first Test between New Zealand and Australia at Wellington on Saturday. Voges also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 497 consecutive Test runs as he is now the first cricketer to score 500 Test runs without being dismissed. Voges remained unbeaten at stumps of Day-two as Australia added another 316 runs losing three wickets. Now Australia lead New Zealand by 280 runs with three days remaining in the first Test. Earlier, Voges and Khawaja shared a partnership worth 168 runs for the fourth wickets from 49.4 overs. Trent Boult who went wicket-less on the opening day of the Test made a crucial breakthrough for New Zealand when he dismissed Khawaja, denying him a double ton. It was the 85th over, Boult went wide off the crease that tempted the batsman who then tried to paly around his pads, eventually just getting hit right in front of his pads. It was plumb, umpire did not think much befoe raising his finger.
Khawaja scored 140 runs in 216 balls and that innings consisted of 25 boundaries. Boult had a double wicket to his name, when he sent back new batsman Mitchell Marsh for a duck, getting New Zealand back into the Test. Peter Nevill was the last wicket the Black Caps could get for the day, and it was Corey Anderson who dismissed him in the 112th over. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 32 off 94 balls before getting caught behind.
