Chasing a target of 142, Afghanistan lost three wickets in the powerplay handing Nepal the advantage in the ICC World T20 2014 Group A first round match at Chittagong. Jitendra Mukhiya removed dangerman Mohammad Shahzad and Najibullah Zadran in successive deliveries.
Karim Sadiq was the first to go bowled by Sompal Kami for eight. It was the next over by Mukhiya which pushed the Afghans on the backfoot. Shahzad was struggling to get the big hits and was caught by deep thirdman for six, Zadran too perished trying to clear the infield.
Keeper Subash Khakurel missed an easy stumping on the last ball of the seventh over. Nawroz Mangal had come long way down the track but the keeper failed to collect it. 17 runs came from the seventh over.
Earlier, Opener Subash Khakurel‘s career-best T20 score of 56 from 53 balls helped Nepal post 141 for five in 20 overs. Afghanistan looked unsettled towards the end and allowed the two batsmen two get underneath the ball and go for wild swings.
