Afghanistan pacers started of well in their first Asia Cup match against Pakistan at Fatullah on Thursday. Shapoor Zadran and Dawlat Zadran started the bowling for Afghanistan. Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan struggled to time the ball but Ahmed Shehzad was off to a steady start.
Sharjeel survived a close caught behind call of Dawlat’s bowling. Dawlat had pitched it a touch short on the leg-side and Sharjeel instinctively went for the pull and gloved it before the keeper caught it. The umpire though was unmoved and Sharjeel survived. Pakistan struggled to score in the first four overs, before Shehzad started off the scoring with a crisp drive.
Zadran and Dawlat were disciplined with the former conceding just 12 in his first four overs. But Dawlat lost his line a bit in his fourth and was hit for three boundaries, all from Shehzad’s bat. Zadran was replaced by skipper Mohammad Nabi.
