Here are the statistical highlights of the Asia Cup 2014 match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

# Ajantha Mendis has claimed 24 wickets at 9.00 runs apiece in seven matches at the Asia Cup. His tally is the second highest by a bowler at the Asia Cup. Muttiah Muralitharan had claimed 30 wickets at 28.83 runs apiece in 24 matches.

# Kumar Sangakkara (76 off 102 balls) has recorded his 85th fifty in ODIs — his first against Afghanistan. He became the first batsman to register three consecutive innings of fifty-plus in the present tournament — 67 vs Pakistan; 103 vs India and 76 vs Afghanistan.

# With 246 runs at an average of 82.00 in three innings, Sangakkara is the leading run-getter in the current series.

# Sri Lanka’s superb win has assured them a place in the Asia Cup final.

# Sri Lanka have won seven ODIs in a row between December 27, 2013 and March 3, 2014.

# Afghanistan lost to Sri Lanka by 129 runs — their biggest defeat in terms of runs in ODIs, outstripping the 92-run defeat to Kenya at Nairobi (Gym.) on October 7, 2010.

# Afghanistan (124) have recorded their lowest total at the Asia Cup. The said score is their fourth lowest in ODIs — their lowest is 88 vs Kenya at Nairobi (Gym.) on October 7, 2010.

# Afghanistan’s aforesaid score is their lowest against a Test-playing side in ODIs.

# Sangakkara has completed his 1,000 runs at the Asia Cup — his aggregate being 1073 (ave. 53.65) in 22 matches, including four hundreds and eight fifties. He is the second batsman after Sanath Jayasuriya to achieve the distinction. Jayasuriya had amassed 1220 (ave.53.04) in 25 matches.

# Sangakkara, during the course of his aforesaid innings, has completed his 1,000 runs in ODIs in Bangladesh — his aggregate being 1043 at an average of 57.94 in 19 matches, including three centuries and ten fifties. He became the first batsman other than Bangladeshi player to amass 1,000 runs in ODIs in Bangladesh.

# Sangakkara has got his 26th Man of the Match award in ODIs. Only two Sri Lankan players — Jayasuriya (48) and Aravinda de Silva (30) have received more MOM awards than Sangakkara in ODIs.

# Samiullah Shenwari is the top wicket-taker for Afghanistan in ODIs — 36 at an average of 25.97 in 30 matches. Hamid Hassan is second in the list – 35 at 18.94 runs apiece in 19 matches.

# Thisara Perera (3/29) has recorded his best bowling figures at the Asia Cup.
