Afghanistan win Laureus Spirit of Sport award
The award was gifted to the war-torn country for securing their maiden World Cup berth.

The prestigious Laureus World Sports Academy presented Afghanistan with The Laureus Spirit of Sport Award for beating all odds and qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2015 for the first time in their history.
Afghanistan has had a fairytale run in cricket so far. They recently made their maiden appearance in the Asia Cup, upsetting Bangladesh and going on to make an impact against the Asian giants, with whom they went toe-to-toe.
In the mega event in Malaysia, Indian legend Kapil Dev, who is also member of the one of the academy members of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation brushed shoulders with the who’s who of the sporting world which included Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel, Swimming sensation Missy Franklin and Tennis star Rafael Nadal.
