Ajinkya Rahane, with his two hundreds in the fourth Test between India and South Africa 2015-16 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, has jumped up a whopping 14 places in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings from 26th to 12th. Rahane, previously languishing at 616 points, has now moved up to a whopping career-best ICC rating of 753 — significantly ahead of his previous best of 699. Rahane had reached 699 after the Test against Sri Lanka at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, after his crucial, match-winning 126. In the process Rahane became the fourth Indian contemporary batsman to go past the 750-mark in ICC ratings — after Cheteshwar Pujara (851) and Virat Kohli (784). Murali Vijay had a career-best of 747 after the second Test of the recently concluded series at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, but has subsequently slid to 733.
Rahane is not the only Indian batsman to move up the ranks. Kohli, with 44 and 88 at Kotla, has also moved up from 691 to 725, thereby securing 14th place (he was at 16th going into the Test). Vijay (was 12th, now 16th) and Pujara (was 15th, now 17th) have, on the other hand, slid down. READ: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja take giant strides in ICC ratings
