Cook made his debut in 2006, against India at Nagpur. He scored a resolute 60 in his maiden innings, followed by a magnificent 104 in the second essay. He missed the third Test of the series due to stomach bug and has never missed a Test for England since. The SCG Test is his 150th Test on the trot, the second-most by any batsman. In all he has 32 hundreds and 55 fifties to his name.

Cook is England’s joint second-most successful captain in Tests. England won 24 and lost 22 in 59 Tests under him. He ended the five-year tenure at the helm after a 4-0 drubbing by India in 2006.
