England have dominated yet another session as India are under pressure at lunch on Day 2 of the fifth Test at The Oval. After bowling India out for 148 on Day One, England have now moved to 137 for one at lunch and are in total control of the game. Alastair Cook and Gary Ballance have stitched a good partnership to take England closer to India’s total.
England started the day on 62 for no loss, with Sam Robson facing a test before him. After the half-century in the first Test, Robson hasn’t done anything of note. And, he moved to 37 with four runs through the third-man. But then, Varun Aaron pushed one full and castled Robson.
Ballance then joined Cook in the centre and the duo went about constructing a solid stand. There were numerous deliveries that went through third-man and India leaked runs there. Cook pulled anything that was dug in short and Ballance drove with ease. By the end of the session Cook got to his half century and England levelled with India.
Brief scores:
India 148 (MS Dhoni 82, Murali Vijay 18; Chris Jordan 3 for 30, Chris Woakes 3 for 32) level with England 148 for 1 (Alastair Cook 56*, Gary Ballance 40* Sam Robson 37; Varun Aaron 1 for 49).
