MS Dhoni found a stauch fan in Bollywood matinee idol Amitabh Bachchan, who derided the average Indian fans’ knee-jerk reaction pertaining the Men in Blue’s fluctuating fortunes in the tour of England. India cruised to a comfortable 9-wicket win in the 4th One-Day International (ODI) to wrap up the series and as a result, Dhoni beat Mohammad Azharuddin’s record to become India’s most successful captain in the 50-over format.
T 1600 – MS Dhoni becomes most successful India ODI captain .. !! Aur 4 din pehle galiyaan de rahe the sab ..!! BUCK UP INDIA !! MSZ
— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) September 2, 2014
Bachchan took to Twitter to mention Dhoni’s feat to his followers and added “Aur 4 din pehle galiyaan de rahe the sab” (It was only four days ago that everybody was cursing them [Dhoni and India]). The volatile nature of the Indian fan is well known with incidents like stone-pelting on players houses being reported in the past and these days wer are witnessing excessive abuse on social media websites on the players. Can one of the most popular names in the country drum a modicum of ambivalence while supporting the team India? Only time will tell.
