Aravinda de Silva, one of Sri Lanka’s key batsmen in the 1996 World Cup win, lodged a police complaint regarding a theft at his house in Kollupitiya. De Silva said that his house was robbed of cash worth over Rs 5 million, that was missing from his safe.
According to a report in dailymirror.lk, de Silva and his wife had gone abroad for a vacation, and found the cash missing after their return. He said that the money belonged to a friend, and that he was keeping it safe for them. Ironically, de Silva celebrated his 49th birthday only days ago.
According to de Silva, while he and his wife were away there were several servants in the house. The Kollupitiya Police then proceeded to record statements from each of the said servants. The police said that they would continue the investigations.
