Legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar‘s son, Arjun Tendulkar seems to be folloeing the steps of his father. Sachin along with Star Cricket Club, after touring England in 1988 and 1989 was selcted for the Indian squad at the age of 16.
Arjun, on the other hand would be touring South Africa along with Worli Cricket Club. The tour is scheduled to begin from Novemeber 2 and would continue till 15th as it would be a 15-day tour. He would also be captaining the team consisting of players varying from the age 16 to 18 years, reports Mid-Day.
Avinash Kadam, the owner of Worli Cricket Club is orgainising the tour. “Arjun did exceptionally well when we toured SA last year. He was the highest run-scorer. Like his father, Arjun is a keen learner and has been part of our club for the last two years,” he said.
He also said that Worli Cricket Club are scheduled to play 10 matches comprising of 45 overs each and few good schools from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Potchefstroom are scheduled to participate in the tour.
“Such trips are very important because most of our cricketers only play in Mumbai. They have no avenues to play in different conditions. A trip like this provides good exposure to these youngsters. It gives them a sense of playing on faster wickets,” said Kadam.
“Those who are financial well off, pay for their trip. We look for sponsors for those who cannot afford it,” he added.
