Steve Smith and Brad Haddin continued to consolidate their partnership as Australia reached 254 for five at Perth on Day One of the third Ashes 2013-14 Test. Haddin reached his half-century with a lofted shot towards long-off. It was his fourth half-century in a row in three matches so far.
Haddin though struggled initially but towards the end of second session he regained confidence and started to attack. Haddin walked in after the dismissal of George Bailey when Australia were reeling at 143 for five. Haddin was tested with some short balls from Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan.
Haddin had scored a century as well in the Adelaide Test.
