Alastair Cook completed his 34th Test fifty as England proceed cautiously post tea. The Australian pacers have bowled a probing line and length to keep the batsmen tied. England are on 132 for two.
It was surprising to see Kevin Pietersen held up on four having been on the crease for well over an hour. Cook is fighting it out as well for his half-century. It was this pair which had shared a double-century partnership at Mumbai against India in 2012. Bith the players have represented England for 100 Tests and have shown the experience to tackle the aggressive Australian pace attack.
England had gone in to tea at 91 for two losing Michael Carberry and Joe Root. Australia have posted 385 in their first innings.
