The fifth Ashes 2013-14 Test between Australia and England began on January 3, 2014, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

 

England captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to field first. Australia were bowled out for 326 in their first innings. Steven Smith top-scored with 115 and Brad Haddin scored 75. Ben Stokes took six wickets for 99 runs.

 

In reply, England were bowled out for 155 with Stokes top-scoring with 47. Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle took three wickets each.

 

At stumps on Day Two, Australia were at 140 for four. Chris Rogers was batting on 73 and George Bailey was on 20. James Anderson had taken two wickets.
