Opener Lahiru Thirimanne with the support of the in-form Kumar Sangakkara steadied the Sri Lankan ship after Umar Gul sent Kusal Perera back to the pavilion early on in the innings, to give Pakistan the perfect start.

Veteran Sangakkara wasted no time in getting off the blocks and looks confident and hungry for runs. Thirimanne looked in good nick, reaching his seventh half-century. Thirimanne rotated the strike and went for the boundary whenever an opportunity presented itself after making a comeback into the Sri Lankan side after a lengthy gap on the sidelines. Both batsmen look set for a three-figure score and runs are coming thick and fast for the Lankans.

The Fatullah wicket looks great to bat on and the southpaw duo are punishing every bad delivery that is coming their way. The lightening fast outfield is also aiding the batsmen.
