Bangladesh off-spinner Sohag Gazi was ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup 2014 after suffering a cut on his right thumb while fielding off his own bowling during Saturday’s Asia Cup match against Afghanistan.
“The cut was caused by the seam and it had to be stitched up. He will need seven to 10 days to recover,” team physio Vibhav Singh said in a release.
Mahmudullah has been called up to replace Gazi in the Bangladesh squad for the remaining matches.
Associate nation Afghanistan on Saturday notched up their biggest win ever by beating Bangladesh by 32 runs in their first win over a Test playing nation.
