Amidst battle between Board of Control for Cricket in India and Pakistan Cricket Board, the Asia Cup 2018 has been allotted to United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was earlier given to India, but given political tensions with Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council has taken this decision. India are defending Asia Cup T20 2016 champions, where they defeated Sri Lanka in the final at Dhaka.

According to ESPNCricinfo, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi said: “The ACC deliberated on the matter and decided that this was the best way forward.” The 2018 Asia Emerging Teams’ Asia Cup will now be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It has been moved to  December, originally slated to be played in April.

Asia Cup 2018 will feature teams likes, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Final team will be determined via a playoffs between UAE, Hong Kong, Nepal and Oman.
