Bangladesh will now be playing Afghanistan in a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. All 3-T20Is will be played at Dehradun, India. The T20I series will be played keeping in mind Bangladesh’s preparation for T20 World Cup in 2020, Australia. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had requested BCCI for a change of venue, but it was denied.
According to cricbuzz, BCB President said: “We have ICC T20 World Cup ahead but we are not playing enough T20I matches. So we decided to play the series against Afghanistan in T20 format. We will play the series in Dehradun as other venues are preoccupied.” Afghanistan are set to make their Test debut against India on June 14. Bangladesh are to play a full-fledged series against West Indies post their series versus Afghanistan.
BCCI has earlier named Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports stadium to Afghanistan for 2015-16 season.
