Johannesburg: South Africa coach Russell Domingo believes that change in personnel has provided his side with ‘fresh energy’ ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on Tuesday. After a disappointing One-Day International (ODI) series loss, eight new players have joined the squad for the format which the South Africans have been dominating lately. Domingo said it was a disappointing finish to their ODI series after starting well in the T20s but now they have eight new players here which would provide great energy and new ideas and also some experience with guys like Dale Steyn joining the side, Sport24 reported. The coach also said that he is still in search of compatible combinations in his line-up. He inspired the young players, saying that they would bring in the hunger and desire that is required for winning. Domingo insisted that his side can overcome the Bangladesh tigers in their home ground only when they play consistent cricket and also apply enough pressure to whittle away the number eight ranked hosts.

Earlier, stand-in skipper ODI skipper Hashim Amla said that the main reason for their loss against the minnows was their misjudgment of the conditions. The hosts thrashed the Proteas by nine wickets in the third ODI on Wednesday to claim a 2-1 series victory, which was also their first ever series victory over the opponents in any format. Dejected with the defeat, Amla said that it was indeed very disappointing, adding that they misjudged the conditions but all the credit goes to Bangladesh. He said that they were very rusty throughout the series and did not play good cricket.
