Bangladesh players will have to shift focus to the longer format of the game. They had last played Test cricket in November, and had lost both Tests against South Africa by huge margins. Since then the players have been busy playing Bangladesh Premier League and then the Tri-nation series at home. On the other hand, Sri Lanka gave tough fight to India at their home in November even though they lost 0-1. They have also defeated Pakistan in the latter’s adopted home ground in UAE. Bangladesh did manage to draw series against England and Australia at home and in Sri Lanka as well when they toured.

The Test series will be shown on Star Select HD 2 and Star Select 2. The live streaming of the match will be available on hotstar.com. In Bangladesh, the streaming will be available on gazitv.com, along with the live telecast on Gazi TV.

In a two-Test series both teams will aim to take lead in the series opener. Bangladesh will surely miss Shakib Al Hasan, who will be unavailable for the first match due to a finger injury he faced in the finals of the Tri-nation series. Mahmudullah will lead Bangladesh in Shakib’s absence.
