Bangladesh reached a total of 109 for the loss of three wickets at the lunch on the second day of the first Test match against Zimbabwe at the Shere-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Bangladesh, who hadf lost just one wicket the other day lost two in the first session of the second day that included the wicket of Shamsur Rahman early at the start of the day.
Bangladesh, who were on 27 for the loss of just one wicket started the second day on a disappointing note after Rahman was dismissed cheaply for just eight off Tinashe Panyangara. However, from thereon, batsmen Mominul Haque and Mahmudullah put up a commanding performance and added a 63 run partnership for the third wicket. Mominul later went on to score a half-century off 101 balls, but could not last long and was quickly dismissed for 53 after an unfortunate run-out by Sikandar Raza of a direct hit at the stumps.
Currently, Mahmudullah along with Bangladesh’s star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan is on the crease batting on 37 and one, respectively and would be interesting to see how things progress in the post-lunch session.
Brief Scores:
Zimbabwe240 (Sikandar Raza 51; Shakib Al Hasan 6 for 59) leads Bangladesh 109/3 (Mominul Haque 53; T Panyangara 2 for 31) by 131 runs.
